Don't let the look of this place deter you from grabbing some pretty good Asian food. We went in to order and were very enthusiastically greeted and given menus. We were debating splitting a meal when the girl behind the counter offered the option of the lunch menu (even though it was after 4pm). We ordered orange chicken & Kung Pao chicken and waited. While we were waiting, 3 locals came in for pick up orders... good sign! They were so nice to every customer- making each feel welcomed and appreciated. We got plenty of food (ate the rest of mine for lunch today) and enjoyed our food in the RV. Nice find in a cute town. read more

The BEST restaurant in Llano, always consistent, clean and the staff always has a wonderful attitude. The food always tastes fresh and you can taste the passion they put into every meal. When to China wok because I was in town for training and was told it was pretty good. Wow that was an extreme over exaggeration. Place was not the worst but no where near good. I walked in and they had this weird fountain made out of a kids pool should have been the first red flag. Walked up to the counter and looked over the menu and decided on fries rice. Should have gone with something else. Anyway the combo fried rice came out in the traditional Chinese carry out box and I opened it on first glance it looked OK. Went to taste it the fried rice was dry there barely any chicken, shrimp, beef or pork honestly didn't see any pork at all not sure if it was even one of the ingredients. What combo fried rice comes with no pork! Tried to fix it with soy sauce that didn't help just made me more thirsty! Any ways the rice was not good good. Some of the other guy's meals looked OK but most of them didn't finish the food so makes me wonder. Llano is very small town with a handful of restaurants so that might be the reason that there is like one Chinese food place here but yall can do something better this was a lack of trying and caring smh smh For all the people giving this place 5 stars yall are out of you cotten picking minds this was no where near 5 star. Quite possibly one of the best Chinese restaurants tucked away in small town America. I have been to Chinatown in New York City, Chicago and LA and the food has never been close to this level of food. I placed a to go order and it was ready in eight minutes, and when I walked in on a Thursday evening, nobody was dining in which I found strange. I got the general Tso meal with crab Rangoon's and let me tell you something. The flavor of both dishes made me weak behind my knees. I have been to 49 out of 50 states and have had some variation of Chinese/Asian food in every single one of them.... this is head and shoulders above any other restaurant I have ever had and I just cannot put into words how great this place was. Whether you are here for vacation or work, like I am, please do yourself a favor and head on down to China wok, across from the train car. First time eating here. A husband and wife run it. He takes the orders and she cooks. Order at the counter and grab your own silverware. Friends had recommended it so we thought we'd try it. The best thing we ordered was the hot and sour soup. It was the best I'd ever had and had pieces of scallion, mushroom along with the usual tofu and egg. Very very tasty. Every time we come here, the food is incredible. It is always the same husband and wife running the show, and they've come to know us, even though we only come once or twice a month. The food is always fresh, comes out quickly, and is always seasoned perfectly and consistently. I have a thing about texture so one time my mother ordered for me before I showed up, and when I got there and the order was wrong (not because of the restaurant) the owners were insistent on making sure I ate, even though I had that mental block up. Michael at the counter may be the friendliest guy in Llano, and thats not an understatement. It's always great to do business with someone who appreciates you coming in. Now I'm a bug guy, but these portions are enough for me to make two meals. I prefer the General Tso's chicken. They tell you that it's spicy, but it's city people spicy or old church lady spicy. If you are used to the ordering scale, it's a 1 or 2. But great flavor! My wife likes the sweet and sour combo. Pork, chicken and shrimp in a tempora. FABULOUS! Even if you don't use the sauce, terrific. IBC on tap! That's rare. A nice change of pace. The cashew chicken is an honorable mention. There is something on their menu for everyone. read more

Passing through town we used Yelp to find somewhere to eat and we ended up at China Wok because of the reviews. We ordered Crab ragoons, general tso chicken and Mongolian beef. Our entrees came with pork fried rice and an egg roll. Everything was so fresh and tasted amazing. I also love that this is a true family owned establishment and you can tell they care about their customers and their product. We come here frequently now. The food is good, its always hot and fresh. The service is always good. And I appreciate how they serve it in the to-go plates so you can easily enjoy it for lunch the next day. It's that sort of Chinese food place and I love that. Great for the price too. The people are always nice and it's a cute old building that I appreciate. Also, it was open Christmas and that was fun for dinner that night. I need to say this, and clearly its not so bad that it keeps us from being here about 2xs per week like we honestly do- but when you enter this place, it smells like stagnant water. What a great find. This is a small family run restaurant. You order your food and they bring it to your table. You serve yourself--get your own eating utensils, paper plates, etc. They bring the food to you in take-out containers. Food was good and fresh. We ordered two of the Vegetable options -- one with broccoli, one with tofu (soft) and additionally ordered the veggies and noodles. The broccoli dish was amazing. Small family operation. There are no waitstaff, so you order at the counter and they bring it to you. Drinks and utensils are self serve. You even bag up the food yourself if you're taking it to go. The food is really hot and tastes great, however it's not the best I've had by far. The fried rice is more yellow than brown, and has no egg in it. It's not terrible, but not really the fried rice you think of when ordering it. The egg roll was hot, but extremely raw in the middle. I can only hope that none of the ingredients needed to be cooked thoroughly. For the experience that you receive, the food is rather expensive. To get a standard course and rice with a drink, you're going to be looking at $10-$15. But because you have to do everything yourself except for cooking the food, it seems to be on the high side of what I would like to pay. read more

I am very surprised at the 5 star reviews. This Chinese didn't get close to mediocre. Boyfriend had orange chicken & only ate 1/4 of it. Never happened before at any other Chinese restaurant. Egg rolls seemed commercially made & were soggy & cold in the center. I think they were not cooked thoroughly, which killed my appetite, due to fear of illness. $30 for 2 dishes & egg rolls is not an issue to me. Unless it's not edible. read more
