We were moving last Monday and needed to order take out. Picked China wok because they were on food dudes. Never again! My husband and I both ordered Kung pao shrimp. We both got sick. Me worse than him. Mine lasted all week and I was only able to really eat that following Saturday and I still have lingering stomach cramps. It was a miserable week. I will never eat here again. The flavor was below average and the shrimp and wontons tasted old. It makes me sick to even think about it. I would give it zero stars but that's not an option. read more

First off let me say, we've ordered delivery from this restaurant (China wok) a few times. It's ok Chinese food nothing special. If I was rating on just the food and delivery I would have given it a higher score. BUT, let me explain to you what happened tonight... My family and I were out and about and decided to stop in for an easy early dinner. As previously stated we've never been inside before, (only online ordered and delivered to our house.) It's a small restaurant with five little tables inside. When we walked in with our toddler in tow, there was no one there. Finally a man came out, saw us and yelled and another man came to the desk and said "what do you want to eat." Not a hello or anything. We ordered the fried dumplings, beef lo mein combo, four seasons, and a sushi special 3 rolls for 12.95. We had never tried the sushi here so thought we'd give it a try. We also bought a canned Pepsi. We were told that the sushi would take a little longer because they had to make it. We sat down and our food came out pretty fast. Like I said not absolutely horrible Chinese food but nothing to rave or get excited about. About 15 minutes into the meal I jokingly said to my husband "wouldn't it be hilarious if there reason the sushi takes longer is because they order it from somewhere else?" I shit you not, less than 5 minutes later a Honda pulled up out front and a dude came in with a plate of sushi covered in plastic wrap. We could literally see our three rolls on the plate. He took it straight to the back, there was brief yelling in Chinese. And the mysterious man in the Honda left sans the plate he entered with. There was a few awkward moments of someone banging around in the kitchen with a knife to make it seem like they were "cooking" and then TA-DA! Our sushi came out. Minus the plastic wrap on top. It WAS NOT GOOD SUSHI. We ordered a California roll, salmon roll, and Colorado roll. I took a picture of the salmon roll. WHERE WAS THE FUCKING SALMON? It was legit rice and seaweed that looked like a salmon farted on it. We didn't know what to do but laugh. They also have decent mood lighting. Only one bulb working in their wicked sweet chandelier. Never again. This was my third time trying this restaurant, with several years in between each delivery to my work place. I was hopeful that things might have changed, and they did a little bit - for the worse. The egg rolls that were good last time were bland and overcooked this time. I also ordered the egg drop soup which consisted mainly of cornstarch. It was a gloppy, gloopy mess. The ONLY redeemable thing was that the person taking the order was kind enough to make up some house mustard OF HER OWN as the restaurant doesn't provide it. Fool me once, shame on you. Terrible. Took one hour and 15 minutes to deliver less than 1/2 mile to our hotel. Even worse, food tasted like it had been sitting out for one hour. Pad Thai was inedible, crab Rangoon was underdone and soggy, King and I was completely forgettable. The delivery guy apologized and I hope that he didn't interpret my 20% tip as approval for the service I received. Should have gone to Qdoba or something for half the price and time. read more

Not sure it this is the only place in town that delivers sushi, but seems to be. Gave it a second chance for delivery tonight. Online ordering seems straight forward, but the word "extended" seem to have different meanings for different items. I ordered the Pho soup with what I thought was a side of Lo Mein. All came dumped in the same soup container, noodles on the bottom, modest meat and onions on top. I didn't see anything else I was accustom to have with Pho in the container. Not bad but but not exciting either. Had to dump it out to mix it up. More dishes to wash on delivery food. Delivery took about an hour and 40 minutes. Competitors for regular Chinese food are much faster. I can drive to the closest sushi place in 7 minutes for pick up. No win on the delivery time. Ordered 3 for $11.95 sushi rolls. found out if you didnt click the sub menu, you pay full price. Pricing should be automatic and correct. 16 dollars instead of 11.95. Better than grocery store sushi but not by much. Ordered Seaweed salad, which I understand is totally food service provided at any sushi restaurant. Yup, same as all the other places. Average size portion, average price. All good there. Spring rolls may have been fresh last spring. Was thinking of the translucent skinned unfried.. got a smooth fried egg roll. Salty even though I used no soy sauce. "Extended" a combo dinner with crab rangoon was 2 tiny crab rangoon. Almost called them back and told them they were forgotten. They were tucked in with the real Egg roll that "extended" the other combo dinner. Must have been a bad year for cabbage, never had a tough egg roll before. Bought two combo dinners, one for my other half and some to have left overs. Have not tucked into them yet. Hope the tripple delight is one and the Kung Pow has some Pow. Ill just go get what I want and save the tip and delivery charge. read more

I ordered for delivery. First, the person taking the phone order is incredibly, ridiculously rude. Then there's the food. I've eaten Chinese food all my life. China Wok's offerings are borderline inedible. I honestly don't know how they stay in business. Hands down the worst Chinese food I've ever tasted in my life. They use too much MSG and too little seasonings. I'd give this place negative stars if I could. Don't do it. Just don't. Try any other place. Food is delish and freshly made! The staff is friendly. Good spare ribs and Mongolian beef. Portions where amazing and prices where decent.

We've tried to dine in twice and both times we were told it would take them a long time to make our food and they told us to go to their other restaurant and eat there. We're a family with little kids, not only inconvenient, but the buffet wasn't any good either and we wanted a menu to order off of, not a buffet. Finally able to get food as carry out tonight and it wasn't very good. Their curry was almost inedible and everything else was generic and not very good. Best Chinese food I have had in rapid yet. I just found out they DO deliver to Antelope Ridge, but when I did order over the phone they misheard my order. They really didn't have anyway to make it up to me that night, but I was told I could come get my order for free the next day. I really like going in and ordering and taking it home. If you're lucky, the cook will start singing while you wait for your food. Other times, you can be guaranteed some Chinese banter between the sweet girl taking orders and the other workers. It's a walk-in and walk-out restaurant. They have maybe 4 tables (may have upgraded since my last visit). You can have the food delivered, but that would take away the fun that is watching them make the food behind the counter and listening to their chatter. Pros: The food is pretty good for a take-out place, and it by far our favorite Chinese in town. They ask you to circle what you want on the throw-away menus so there is no confusion. Cons: Calling and ordering is tough. Their accents are thick, so be prepared to ask "what" and repeat yourself several times. read more

They get one star because I couldn't go lower. Absolutely horrible.. As I walked in, the waiter/cashier was taking an order and cut the customer off to seat me. Can you say $$$ hungry. After being seated the table was really sticky. They probably just run a wet Unwashed rag after every sitting, if that. We were served on paper plates and plastic silverware. We had the beef pad tai, general Tso chicken, and sesame chicken. Rice was super dry, pad tai was just ramon noodles with some seasoning. The chicken tasted like some Tyson boneless wings. First off. After ordering the waitress, she told me the prices where actually a few dollars higher than whats listed on all the menus. After I ordered I walked in on the cook taking a crap. Horiffied my sushi would be tainted I considered running. I reluctantly stayed. The cook then after he left the bathroom, left the restaurant to pick up my order of sushi from another restaurant. This actually made me feel better. Anyways 35 minutes later the sushi arrived. Im the only person in the place. The sushi is luke warm and now im pretty sure im gonna get mercury poisoning. We enjoyed our family meal. It was 23.99 for a family of four ! It is unheard of in other places. It was good solid take out and was ready fast. I ordered there and picked it up. Ordered Beef with vegetables in their combination menu and food was okay. Vegetables are fresh and one order is plenty for one person. Its a typical fast cooking chinese food. I really cannot complain about anything coz I already have a set expectations and it did not fail or surpassed my expectations. Overall, I will probably order again if I want a take out. My wife and I have ordered from China Wok quite often, in the past they've always had good food and delivery times. I'm not sure what has happened, but recently their service has gone WAY downhill. Not only is the food absolutely terrible (Tasted like it was days old) but the deliveries have taken on average 2x longer than what they state. 1 1/2 - 2 hours on average, which honestly is ridiculous. On top of this their new hires are pretty disrespectful and unprofessional. I might be nitpicking and overreacting, but when I call a restaurant I'd prefer is someone didn't answer the phone with "Yeah" in a annoyed tone. My last and final business with China Wok was on June 13th 2013, I'm writing this now still waiting for my food after 2 hours. They were a good place, they might still be worth a shot in a few months.. but right now, with their current employees I suggest looking elsewhere. read more

Like another reviewer here, we usually order delivery from Imperial but decided to try this place out. Sadly, it was not an improvement. It took at least an hour and 15 minutes to get here (Box Elder) and the soup was lukewarm. When hot and sour soup is not hot it's gooey, and gross. We also chose medium for the spiciness but there was no spice at all, not even mild. Chinese restaurants seem to use the lowest quality possible however there were some new quirks with this one. The chicken in my fried rice was unusually white (I thought it was crab meat at first) and had a strange texture. The flavor was weird. The beef in my lo mein looked like ground beef smashed into tiny patties. It didn't really taste like beef. Both types of meat were terrible. The rice was edible with extra soy sauce if you skipped the chicken. The noodles had a strange flavor that I couldn't cover up with soy sauce. We will not order from this place again. Imperial is decent but this place isn't. I really wish Chinese restaurants would start serving better quality meat! I'm starting to wonder if the majority of their customers are vegetarians. read more

My food was gross. The egg drop soup was like a bowl of watery sour eggs. The sesame chicken was like eating red crayons. The rice was way way over mooshy. They forgot my sushi and that was the only thing I ordered for myself. Took another 45 minutes to deliver it and I live about 4 minutes away. The egg rolls were nothing but cabbage, the chicken and broccoli was gross, the general tso's chicken was meh and the teriyaki chicken was dry chicken on a skewer. I was not demanding, I did not complain and the woman who answered the phone literally screamed at me "no ma'am I can't not give you an estimated time... have you looked outside we are in the middle of a blizzard and I've told them not to speed" ok..The weathers bad.. got it. Undercooked food!!!! Usually me my girlfriend and daughter usually order from imperial (which is great!) but tonight we decided to try another Chinese restaurant. For one it took 45 minutes to even get our food which we live literally 5 minutes away from this place. When the delivery guy showed up he was on the phone and I had to wait till he was done with his sentence for him to acknowledge me. I gave him a $50 bill and he didn't have change so I was forced to tip him. The whole time he was on the phone and when I asked him if he had change he told his buddy to hold on while he answered my question. So the food has arrived and me and my family are ready to eat! So the first thing we open is the chicken fried rice. The meat is literally pink!!! I was about to feed this to my daughter!!! So I called to speak to a manager about the bad experience I had received and the worker named "Lesley" refused to tell me when the manager would be there and hung up on me!!! Worst food experience ever!! I made this account just for the sole purpose of sharing this story about this crappy restaurant. Also "mr. By far the best takeout Chinese in Rapid City. I enjoy Golden Phoenix for a sit down experience. Be prepared to bay over $60 for a family of 5. It is good and they don't deliver to Ellsworth AFB. read more

We chose this place because we weren't too excited about any of the other places especially because we have 2 young kids (4 &7). What we liked--- the food was fresh, the veggies were cooked just right, the meat wasn't cube shaped, nothing was dripping in grease, and the staff was friendly and accommodating. The crab cheese wantons were really yummy! The chicken fried rice was plain but still quite good....we just added a little soy sauce and pepper. Our 4 year old loved it! The kiddos also enjoyed the chicken rice soup! We highly recommend the beef and broccoli! What we didn't like---the CHEAP paper plates and plasticware, the pad thai was seasoned very differently than any other we've had ( we eat thai food very regularly)we sent it back, and the staff never checked on us once the food was served. In fact, she was no where to be found. Not a bad place though and we'll happily eat our left overs tomorrow. read more

Tried this place because it was close to the hotel big mistake! The food was not good so very disappointing.

So it's a 20 min drive because my wife works at Fuji's, which is where you should go, they took 2 hours to get here for 3 things and we called to cancel and it was the owner, Lee, who answered and was extremely rude and yelled to never order again. Didn't get get an an apology and the delivery guy was rude too. We ordered at 430 which I know is plenty of time around here but we were quick to get charged and nothing to show for it. Never review places but that is crazy and hope these guys change or pick a different profession read more

The customer service alone is absolutely dismal. Almost every time we ordered some cranky old lady answers the phone, she is incredibly rude and treats us as if we personally messed up her day by giving her our business. The food is declining at an alarming rate. The chicken is chewy and cartilage ridden and the other meats are poorly selected and prepared. Ordered Chicken Chow Mein and Chicken Lo Mein tognight. It was very hard to place the order due to the asian accent-although I was "very" clear about Chicken Chow Mein C1 on your menu and Chicken Lo Mein C12 on your menu. I asked for a little container of red pepper oil so that "I" could make my dinners as spicy or not as I wanted but was told no - could pay $1.50 extra for that (Great Wall will provide that to their customers). Told the man to make each order mildly spicy. What Chicken Chow Mein I received was spicy-the Chicken Lo Mein-no spice at all. My meals had more Fried Rice than the meal itself.
