I really came for the egg drop soup, I saw another customers review about it, and they said it was amazing and they weren't wrong! I've been looking for a good egg drop soup for a while and now I found an egg drop home! Sweet & Sour Chicken 8/10 Shrimp Fried Rice 9/10 w/ a side of white rice that come with it 9/10 Egg Drop Soup 10/10 I don't have a photo because I tore everything up within 2days lol. Give them a try! and if you want to re-warm your food, I suggest using your oven, toaster oven or air fryer whichever one you have. Between 375/400 -- 420 degs. I don't understand how this place is voted one of the best chinese food places in Detroit area of Michigan. The food was bland and overpriced. Will not be returning. Service was just ok. We ate inside for lunch. Tried the chicken lo mein, fried rice, white rice, potstickers, hot and sour soup, and chicken with broccoli. All of it was extremely subpar and needed to be seasoned. I'm always hesitant to try new Chinese food places because they're either really good or really bad. Our usual spot doubled in price so hubby suggested we try somewhere new. He really wanted boneless spare ribs and China Wok had them on their menu. I ordered the beef and broccoli and the house lo mein (for next days lunch). We ordered online and placed a tip. We were scheduled to pick up in 20 minutes. The gentleman at the counter told us the website basically steals the tips and offered us almond cookies as an apology. The guy at the counter was very friendly and helpful. We got home and duh right in! Flavor is all there! The only two things we had to "complain" about was his dish had a little too much sauce (but that's our personal preference) and my lo mein had a piece of chicken gristle (not a huge complaint, I just can't stand the texture). The best description I could give of this place is mediocre. I ordered the szechuan chicken "spicey" (medium) and you could hardly detect any level of spice in the dish. The fried rice which came with the dinner combo was bland and non descript. The combo also included an egg roll which was okay but nothing special and the included plum (I think) sauce which was thin and vinegary. Diamond in the rough describes it best as the place needs a face lift BUT the kitchen was VERY clean. The owners are very nice. We decided to dine in and they were shocked lol. We made small talk while our food was being prepared and exchanged favorite dim sum restaurants. This was our first visit so we had dinner for two. You get to choose two of 6 or 8?mains, chicken fried rice, soup and egg rolls for $21. The food was minus MSG and it was great. There was so much food, it should have been called dinner for three. We chose beef with broccoli which had a light brown gravy and fresh crunchy broccoli and general tso chicken, medium spice. If you like American Chinese food this is your place. *If you decide to dine in bring silverware the plasticware was weak. The new owners have been here one year in June, give them a try. read more

Great find in SCS! No matter what it's always 10-15 mins top, I've never waited any longer. My go too is always the beef lo mein/ combo. HOLY CRAP!!!! SO I go into this place conveniently located nect to a Murrays discount auto parts... Nobody is in there, and it's freezing (it was Jan) and the heat wasn't turned on... There was a haggard older woman sitting in back, and a 14 year old kid working the counter... I got my usual Almond chicken, white rice, gravy on the side... Well like a lot of chinese places, they have like 400lbs of prefried chicken in an old Coke cooler... The woman in back tossed some in some oil, the kid did some stuff, and there ya go... Decided to stop in here on a whim. I'll admit, I was skeptical when we walked in, the place is bare bones minimal and is the kind of place that has pictures of the dishes above the counter - so if it's atmosphere you're after, then forget it. It seems that most of the business is carryout, but there are tables to dine at, which is what we decided to do. The food was a very pleasant surprise - it was really good, and inexpensive. The egg rolls are nice and crispy, and have that just right flaky outer shell. I hate soggy, greasy egg rolls, so right away I was happy. I had a combo plate of shrimp chop suey, served with chicken fried rice. The rice was good, not greasy, and the chop suey had plenty of shrimp. Nothing worse than having a few pieces of shrimp in the first bites, then being left with a pile of vegetables on your plate. That did not happen here. I grabbed a carryout menu on the way out the door, because I'm thinking that this little place just might be our new go-to for tasty Chinese food in the future! read more

I actually kind of love the extreme minimalism here. They are nice, and the food satisfies the "Chinese food craving". Not gourmet, but not pretending to be either. This is by far my favorite Chinese restaurant. Are used to frequent golden chopsticks but they have gone far downhill on their quality let alone their portions over the past few years. Are used to go to China wok when the original owner had it and absolutely loved their General tao's chicken and reluctant to try again with the new owners BUT DAMN, these people know how to cook! By far the best general taos I HAVE EVER HAD (period)! Super fresh ingredients especially with their vegetables. Hey all: Read me now, and believe me later! I am glad I found this place. It is head and shoulders above the average Chinese Take Out on the East Side. 1st, they are spotlessly clean and well organized. This puts them above most of their competitors. Very modest on the inside...but it is what it is. This is primarily a carryout. 2nd, They have VERY fresh ingredients. Good quality. 3rd, They have home made sauces...not the standard "glop" of their competitors. You can taste the subtly of different spices. Excellent. The chef really does a good job. 4th, prices are pretty good. 5th, they have a decent selection of vegetables & vegetarian dishes. Not a tremendous amount, but better than the nearby competition. So these are the good points....there are a couple of things that could use improvement though. The eggrolls are the standard "bean sprout" type....I don't think they make these in house. Secondly, the fried rice in the lunch specials leaves a little to be desired...not terrible, but not better than average. The positives VASTLY outweigh the negatives. If you are on the Eastside, this place is deserving of your business. I think you will find out what I have! read more

Let me tell you the story of how I was banned from China Wok. I'll try to keep this short... here we go! To preface, we have lived in SCS for about 2 years. Now, we don't eat Chinese takeout often, probably once every few months. We have eaten here before, nothing special, but it's close to our house so it made it easy enough to keep coming. Tonight, however, was special. We ordered 2 combination plates (sweet and sour chicken and sesame chicken) and some chow mein. We get it home and start to eat, now here is the kicker, the chicken was tough, and I mean tough! We tried a few pieces and it was all inedible! This was at 9pm, it's been a long day and we didn't feel like giving it another go and letting them remake the food so we politely asked for a refund. The man on the phone was very friendly and said to come up and it would be no problem. We walk in and there is a man I've never seen (I'm assuming it was the owner). We tell him that we are there for a refund, he starts to un-bag it and examine it. Mind you, everything was full. We didn't try to eat it and return it or anything dicky like that. He gets to the plum sauce and hot mustard. One of the plum sauces had the hot mustard mixed in because we mixed it before we realized the chicken was made from some mystery meat. He holds it up to his eyes and says "what's this?" We explained and he huffs and sets it aside (I think he was annoyed he couldn't give the plum sauce and hot mustard to the next customer). After that was the only thing he could complain about, he looks at me and seems pissed off. He asks "is this your first time here?" I respond "no...". He says "well, no one knows you". Even if that's true, so what? He then proceeded to shake his finger in my face and say "ya know what, don't come back. We have been here since 2000 and I've never had this." And I said "in 18 years, you've never had anyone return an order?" He ignored me and walked to the back. Now I know this is a lie because there is a review on here from someone else talking about returning an order. The man that normally works the counter looks pretty embarrassed so I'm assuming this is pretty normal if someone doesn't like his crap food. We get our refund, go to subway and have a pretty good laugh! Don't worry, whatever your name is, we wouldn't eat here if you paid us to! Oh, and the lady that was working at subway gave us a nice tip and told us to go to mayflower and said that no one eats at china wok. Now we know why! Hahahahahahaha ‍ ‍ read more

Ordered $40 worth of food through Wok to You for this restaurant. The food was terrible. Chicken was stringy and no flavor. The fried was and egg rolls were dry and no flavor. Called the restaurant to speak to Lee (so called manager). They told me she was busy to call back in a minute and she would speak with me. Called back asked for Lee, she gets on the phone and asks "who are you?" I proceed with my name and her response was "what do you want?" I tell her about my complaints with her food. Her then response was " I don't have time to talk to you about your problems!" I asked her if she always talks to her customer like That? No response. I proceed to tell her that she may not have time for me, but I sure have time to go on Yelp, Facebook, Google and wherever else to give her a bad review not only for the food but for the customer service. In these times she should be grateful she is open for take out. I know that I will never patronize her establishment again. read more

Ordered through Wok 2 You and restaurant sent order without Sweet and Sour Sauce. I called Wok 2 You and sauce (ONLY SAUCE) arrived 45 minutes later to go on cold Chicken. No Fortune Cookies. Egg Drop soup was bland, crisps were stale. No longer use yummy yeast dinner rolls, now flat standard rolls. Egg Rolls were cold. read more
