Average Chinese food at a fair price. Gotta cherry-pick the menu here, not everything is good. PROS: Surprisingly outstanding wonton soup. The breaded chicken dishes (sweet & sour, almond boneless, etc) are good but a bit heavy on the fried breading. Good egg foo young (terrible gravy, see below). The $7 lunch combos offer tremendous value. CONS: General lack of quality ingrediants on many dishes, it comes off as "hog filler". Many of the sauces are tasteless and starchy, especially the gravy on the egg foo young (yuck). The shrimp fried rice is overpriced and uninspired. Unlike most other Chinese restaurants, the crunchy low mein noodles cost extra when ordering soup. Lame egg rolls with even lamer sweet and sour dipping sauce. SERVICE: Carry-out only. They now take credit cards. The long-time guy working the counter can be quiet, aloof and unfriendly, but recently has perked-up a bit. read more

Brought a Sesame Chicken Lunch on 10/15 and I noticed that the chicken had somewhat of a gamey taste to it. However after preceding to swallowed the 1st and only bit the chicken was stuck in my chest-- NOT my throat. I drunk water and banged on my chest for dear life and I wasn't able to unlodge it for a good 2 mins-- which seems like forever when your body is in destress. It eventually unlodged but burn as it was going down. Thank God, I was able to reverse the direction of the chicken and vomit it up. read more

We've been back 3 times since I last wrote the review. Each time everything has been delicious, and the young man who takes the orders and works the counter is nice, professional, and very precise when taking the order over the phone. They've never gotten an order wrong. Their Chicken Subgum is so good I got extra to take to my sister in Grand Rapids. Now she's envious that we have Kowloon so close-by. I've tried every Chinese food in the local area and kow loon is the most consistent and is excellent in taste they only have took cash since I can remember and it's well worth carrying the cash for some good Chinese food. First time trying this. It's super close to my house so I was hoping for amazing Chinese but I just felt like it was very okay or a little under average. Nothing to write home about. Super inexpensive though, but as everyone has stated, they only accept cash. The guy who runs the place should be a little more people friendly, he's so blah. My fiancé says the almond chicken is boiled which was a big turn off, and I also got the beef lo mein. The fried rice is just plain fried rice. Nothing in it. The egg roll was the most plain egg roll I ever had. I doubt I will return. I'd rather pay more for flavor and amazingness. read more

This my second time having this Chinese food. It was good the first time about a month ago. But this second time was horrible!! I was starving and slamming a dinner meal of sweet and sour chicken; I bit off half of a piece of chicken and I seen a black piece within. At first I thought it was a burnt piece of something but no it was a bug looked kinda like a small cockroach. It is sad how dirty some places can be when it comes to making food. Food is AWESOME. Service and owners are jerks. They will only accept cash which is fine, just a minor pain. But they are only carryout and they have a little waiting room and if you call in order make sure you don't have any questions and don't order for more than a few people because if you do the guy that answers the phone will tell at you and tell you to go into order. Then the wait is LONG, probably because the food is good and there are orders ahead but I have waited over an hour when ordering at the place. I have been going here for over 20 years but this last time may be the last. All I wanted was wonton soup and asked to put the vegetables on the side. They get slimy when they sit and I said I would pay extra. The answer was no they don't do it that way. I hung up and called china villa and guess what? No problem. We were ordering from here once but mostly twice a month spending $60 to $100. I will take my business and money elsewhere. I thought Kowloons had closed down when I road pass their old spot on Michigan, in Dearborn. Found out after posting on FB they had moved to a new location. All I can say is, my family and friends had never had any problem with their food, and it was always worth driving clear across town to get it.
