FANTASTIC! I moved to Texas and they just do not make almond chicken like metro Detroit restaurants makes it. The portions were huge. 3 chicken fillets , high amount of rice with big chunks of pork. Worth the drive?..... I'd say so! We live out in Chesterfield area 23 and Jefferson, the ride is roughly 16mins or so and to by pass the other local Chinese Restaurants in the area was hard... We both ordered Almond Boneless Chicken Combo and side of Wanton Soup The location is off 16 in a strip mall hard to find unless your looking for it, the inside is small and clean from what I gathered... The restaurant seems to deal with mostly takeouts. The staff wasn't talkative just asked name and was on my way. The food was very good, we got the large Wanton Soup total of 8 wantons and the broth was very good came with the chips to put in the soup. Egg roll was large and packed with vegetables very flavorful, no sauce other than soy sauce. The main course of Almond Boneless Chicken was tender and light breading, the gravy was light and not heavy which had the normal brownish color. The rice was plentiful and taste good, found that it seemed very fresh and cooked through and through. You get plenty of chicken and for the meal For every it was just little over $30 I'd definitely like to try a few other dishes, so we will definitely check back in read more

Out of the 5 times I've ordered now only 2 meals are what I'd consider decent. The first time I ordered Moo Shu Chicken, terrible. Was not packaged correctly and saucy mess dripping out of the bag. Second time lunch special Moo Goi Gai Pan. That was okay. Third time dinner Moo Goo Gai Pan, this time salty uncooked pieces of chicken carelessly thrown together, just gross. Then, Pad Thai. First time okay. But the last time I paid almost $15 and there were many ingredients missing, advertised as having so just straight up lying to customers. No bean sprouts, no peanuts... and snarky counter person. Empire is now under new management, but they seem to have kept on with what made this place good to begin with. The fried chicken in dishes like sweet & sour chicken is still excellent. But, check your bag before you leave, because two times in a row they forgot to put the sweet-and-sour sauce on the side like I asked. I got no sauce, and had to turn around and go back. But, they were nice enough to give me an eggroll for my troubles, so no harm done. I actually like their hot & sour soup better, but their wonton egg drop soup - which used to be a wonderful blend of egg drop soup with wontons and it - tastes...strange. Not just lacking salt, but actually somewhat bitter. But, one fantastic addition to the lineup is Pad Thai. I got mine with shrimp, and it was very good. It's a little bit short of my favorite Thai restaurant, but still very good. Their daily lunch specials are so unbelievably cheap, it's hard to go wrong. I usually don't like take out Chinese food but Empire was pleasantly surprising! Portions were huge and the entrees had great flavor. I did get soup (wonton and egg drop) and they were okay. A lot for the price. 4-5 wontons for a pint of soup! You could actually taste the crab in the Crab Rangoon rather than an abundance of cheese. General Tsos chicken almond boneless chicken were juicy and moist and not overcooked like most places. Would definitely come back if I'm ever craving Chinese takeout. read more

The lady working was very dear and kind. I came with two other people .We started with crab Rangoon - they were very tasty but made of fake crab. When our food came Out it was in to go containers and plastic wear .I thought if we were dining there it would be on real plates with silverware but whatever . I ordered the cashew chicken - the chicken was tender , was loaded with cashews but made me really Thirsty . My grandma really liked her chicken mushroom and pea dish. The Singapore mai fun was different than at other places . I liked The curry flavor but the shrimp was really fishy tasting but they were cleaned thoroughly so that's a bonus. We've had way better chicken fried rice - the chicken chunks were fake . They didn't have hot tea or ice tea - Bummer . All the food plus a quart of wonton soup to go was like $43 and we got a TON of food . Like a lot . I think that's the appeal . It's cheap and you get a lot. I wouldn't feel the urge to ever come back here since nothing stood out to being fantastic . read more

Food is good but, some of their "new" convinces aren't. Having to pay to make it easy for them with the online use charge doesn't help me any. I can pick up my phone and call in my order faster and easier. Then a tip on top of that? I worked in the service industry for thirty five years as a service desk manager at Farmer Jack and never once got a tip! Back to the food; great spring rollls but they cost extra instead of the blah egg rolls. House wonton egg drop soup is excellent. Too bad you only get one large wonton. Stopped going here a long time ago, tried it again recently to give it another shot and was extremely disappointed. General Tso's is overbreaded, burnt, and too sugary, no body or spice to it. Ordered a "Hot and Sour Soup" and got...well im not sure what I got....it was definitely not hot and sour soup...im fairly certain it was a mix of all the old soup combined into one...swish soup.... Cant believe I paid for that thinking I was going to get something different. I really enjoy their Mai Fun (aka Singapore Noodles). It's not the best I've ever had, but it's as good as I've had at a quick carry out Chinese place. The portions are good and they are always 10-15min from when you order to when you pick up, no matter how much you order or what time of day it is. The parking is never full, but it's not right next to the door either. I like it, although I've learned what I do and don't like on their menu. I really like their noodle dishes mostly. Horrible food. We ordered sweet and sour chicken with sauce on side. Drove there, lady handed us a bag, said sweet sour chicken with extra sauce. We got home, and it was 5 pieces of chicken, a little rice and egg roll. It cost 12.00. I called and said we got wrong food, lady didn't understand, then said she hit wrong button and we got another chicken dish. Too bad for us, we paid $12.00 for food we couldn't eat. Wouldn't say I'd make the trip up here for it (was finishing a day of fishing on lake st clair) but I'd consider stopping for a bite if I felt like some Chinese if I were already up there. Normally I would not post a negative review but this is the second time ordering from this restaurant and being totally disappointed. We ordered on Christmas Day at around 4:30 pm and didn't receive our order until close to 6:00 pm. The staff was rude, their was no organization and the food was horrible. The Crab Rangoon was only filled with flavorless cream cheese, the sweet and sour chicken was soggy breading. Perhaps they should have given their employees a gift and closed for the holiday. This was absolutely hands down the worst Chinese food I've ever had. Almond boneless chicken gravy tasted like it was chicken gravy out of a can.. so thin and icky. Broccoli and garlic was terrible. Broccoli was hard as a rock, and the sauce didn't taste like garlic at all. Vegetable chop suey barely had any vegetables, my moms shrimp chop suey had more onions than mine. We were looking for a new Chinese restaurant since we've moved ,and found Empire. The food was exactly what I expect for chinese carryout. This means the portions are large, the food was hot, and the service was fast. I appreciated that they used clean oil for the deep frying. Sadly it's not the same owner from years ago, when I would get carry out sometimes 2x a week- it was that good. Today I was in the area visiting my parents and said to myself "self, you haven't eaten lunch yet cuz your kids devoured all the food at Mike and Es, so get you some yummy Chinese food while your in the neighborhood". And that's what I did. Called in the hubbys and my usual, Gia Kow and Szechuan chicken lunch combos. 5 minutes he tells me- Wow that's cool and quick. Got there 10 minutes later and it was bagged and waiting. The place is still small but clean on the inside, with a decent amount of tables to dine at, but like most Chinese places it's mostly carry out. Got the food home and it was piping hot, even with the 22 minute car ride. Egg rolls were really good. On the larger side compared to most places, with beans sprouts and a very tasty sauce for dipping- not to bitter or too sweet, just right. Lots of chicken in both dishes and very good. Not mystery meat or foul tasting. Fresh tender chunks of chicken. Veggie are ample and still tender, not over cooked. The rice was the down fall. Bland and just not all that. It was just pretty much plain fried rice, boring. No onions, bean sprouts or much flavor. Don't get me wrong, I still ate it all, or I should say my daughter did. Even though the owners are new the place is still pretty good. If/when I'm near my parents and need to eat, im sure I'd get it again. My mom can't cook for shit. read more

Just moved into the area and was struggling to find a decent Chinese place! Empire Chinese has good food and good portions. The chicken tastes like real chicken and is well cooked, unlike some other Chinese restaurants I have been to. I really like the sesame chicken. This is my go-to place for Chinese takeout. They have a few small tables inside, but this place is geared more toward takeout than dine-in. Generous portions and consistently good. Prices are fair as well. We especially enjoy the General Tao's and Sesame chicken. Note: I suggest to always call ahead whether you are dining in or getting carryout. I don't know if the owner is having personal problems or what, but lately this place has been closed often when it should be open. When we went there today there was a sign posted on the counter that said it would be closed for the next 5 days due to personal reasons. I'll be bummed if this place closes. read more
