We had a late night and needed some quick takeout, and Chinatown Inn met our needs! Called ahead with our order and the ladies had everything packaged up and ready to go, complete with fortune cookies, plasticware, and plates, in a nice reusable bag! Food was hot and tasty - some of the best Chinese food we've had lately!

I recently ordered takeout with a few coworkers for lunch. We were able to place the order online and it was delivered to our office in about 30 minutes. I ordered the Szechuan vegetables lunch special. I had a choice of rice (white rice) and either soup or an egg roll (I chose egg drop soup). The portion was the perfect size for lunch and the veggies were so good!! The staff here are always so nice too.

I was pleasantly surprised by several things, so thank you for the excellent experience. Seems to be a very popular spot for call in/take out. The take out system seems very efficient as every person who came in showed something on their phone and got their food without delay. I chose to eat in. 20 seconds after being seated, a nice pot of green tea and a glass of ice water was placed on my table - loved it! They make a wide variety of different styles of "Chinese" food so you're likely to find something you want. The portion was plenty; I didn't even finish it. The flavor was good. The staff was friendly. The bathrooms were clean. They also have a large tropical aquarium at the front that drew the attention of those there for pickup. The fish tank is well maintained and the fish were happy and active.

The food was amazing! The portions were plentiful and delicious! We could have easily shared one meal and had plenty. The service was very family oriented and friendly. The story of the resturant was very interesting, being the last of original place in the China town district. The place was buzzing take away orders and customers who waved and called the hostess by name. It is well worth a visit for a number of reasons.

Great old-school Chinese restaurant in downtown Pittsburgh, the last remaining vestige of Pittsburgh's Chinatown from generations ago (run by descendants of the original owners I understand?) The service first off is super-efficient. They seat you, take orders, and deliver food pretty quickly. The food itself is pretty good, standard Chinese food fare. The eggroll was hot and crispy, with a savory, almost nutty vegetable filling. The kung pao (bow?) chicken was great - plenty of sauce, peanuts, and heat. The portion size won't leave you going hungry. Decor inside is cool (reminds me of Chinese restaurants I ate at from my childhood). Five stars.

The food service and ambiance is always great here. We were seated quickly. Our food came out quickly and the taste is always on point. You must try one of their famous eggrolls when you visit.

Chinatown Inn IS the best spot for Chinese food in the city! It is consistently amazing. The best hot & sour soup I've tasted in my life! My go to is the garlic chicken, but | really need to try the other samplings on the menu. Chinatown Inn is my favorite Chinese restaurant hands down!

This is a true old school Chinese restaurant. To my knowledge this is also the last remaining piece of Chinatown existing in Pittsburg. The place is a blast from the past in its inside and that works because it feels like home. We went for lunch and it was fantastic. Food was full of flavor and piping hot. The worst part was them being closed till 2pm Sunday so had to find another place to eat. We walked out stuffed and for a bargain

My husband and I had a great dinner at Chinatown Inn, the last remaining piece of Pittsburgh's original Chinatown--and it's full of charm and history. From the moment you walk in, the warmth of the decor instantly welcomes you. You can feel the history in the walls. We started with the wonton soup, which was cozy and flavorful, with soft, pillowy wontons and fresh scallions. I had a crispy, golden egg roll packed with veggies, while Scott enjoyed the honey sesame chicken--sweet, sticky, and satisfying. I tried the Mongolian beef and loved the mix of tender meat, baby corn, mushrooms, and crunchy peppers. The Singapore Sling was fruity and fun, and the complimentary hot tea was a nice touch. Service was fast and super friendly. Portions are very nice at a great price. This spot is one of my favorites to bring anyone new to town to. Definitely worth a visit if you're downtown!

I have been coming to Chinatown in for decades today I ordered shrimp fried rice service was subpar. There were no utensils in the bag strike number 1 which led to strike number 2. Home is 25 minutes away so almost and hour back and forth. I arrive home 11 Miles 25 minutes later to find shrimp fried rice without eggs. Now I have to drive back 11 Miles 25 minutes and wait for them to do the order correctly strike #3 and now I have to return home 11 miles 25 minutes no compensation not even as much as an apology

The drinks were a little underwhelming, the cocktails were okay, but the Chinese liquors were really nice to sip on while eating and had interesting flavors! The food was also quite solid- would recommend the Singapore style noodles which had good flavor and a fairly large portion size as well. Taro dumplings were also a standout, but everything else was fairly good. Overall I don't think it's a must try, but if you want a solid spot for dimsum and Chinese food with a really nice vibe, would recommend!

Nothing bad, but nothing great either…read more We had a reservation for Saturday evening and arrived a little early, but they were still able to seat us right away. We opted to sit outside because the dining room was incredibly loud. Service was good, and our waitress was attentive, especially considering how busy they were. We ordered an appetizer special and a lobster noodle entrée to share between two people. Unfortunately, the food was probably the most disappointing part of the experience. Nothing was necessarily bad, but everything seemed to be lacking flavor. The ginger sauce on the entrée had actual chunks of ginger in it, but somehow didn't taste like the ginger had really infused into the sauce. It just felt flat. The lobster was fried in the shell, which made it difficult to share, and it was also overcooked. Our appetizer actually came out after the entrée and had a similar issue. The chili sauce was fine, but it didn't have much of the heat or depth of flavor we were expecting. Prices seemed pretty average for this type of restaurant in the area, and the service was certainly solid. Ultimately, though, the food just wasn't memorable enough for us to recommend it or make us want to return.

P12 DUCK YOLK PORK RIBS - 17.95 This was my favorite dish of the night that I kept reaching for. The duck yolk crusted exterior provided a salty, eggy flavor that enhanced the juicy pork underneath. I'd come back and order a platter of these for myself. B12 STRING BEAN W. BEEF - 19.95 A classic string bean dish but with shreds of beef! This is a common staple, but one I continued to reach back for since the green beans were pretty crunchy and crispy, and the beef was pretty tender. V07 EGGPLANT W. GARLIC - 15 Pretty saucy eggplant that was fresh with the perfect custard-like flavor. It's a simple dish, but the stir-fried eggplant and the marinade went well with the minced garlic. We also got the (E12) Garlic Fish Filet, (C1) Chicken w. Basil & Garlic, and (B5) Beef & Watercress in Black Pepper Sc. I only had maybe a couple bites of those and can't comment too much since it's been almost two weeks. These dishes are a fan favorite among my CMU alumni friends. The food was good and legit with most dishes priced under $20. Definitely check it out if you're in the area craving Taiwanese food -- one of the best meals I had in Pittsburgh!

It seemed to attract a lot of nearby people on their lunch breaks as well as students. I went in late December so it wasn't too busy and I found parking around the corner. I was seated and browsed through the menu. I ended up ordering: - Warm HK milk tea: I found this overly sweet overwhelming the milk tea - Pork with egg: This was under the HK menu with the char siu, crispy duck, and chicken option. What I got was not what I was expecting (char siu and boiled egg). The plate was more egg drop soup with pork and peas. It also had a sweet flavor. - Dim sum for one: Sui mai was decent. Har gao was off. They must have put something meant for the dessert dumpling into it. Coconut didn't have the mochi consistency I was expecting. It was very soft, not at all sticky or chewy.
