Good amount of food. I think there are better chinese places in squirrel/oakland but for quickness & for sure getting a table, this place is fine lol

When we went, the block was having power and network issues but this restaurant was still open and welcomed us in. Our waiter was friendly and very helpful. We ordered the Sweet and Sour Crispy Fish and the Dan Dan noodles and I was very happy with my choices. The noodles came out really quick and I personally prefer for mine to have a bit more kick to it but I still really enjoyed it. The fish was amazing, I loved the tanginess of the sauce and the fish had some nice texture. The sauce and some rice was so good. Really happy with my experience here, some of the stuff on the menu is on the pricier side but I would definitely come back here again.

Excellent Chinese food and great service! I got ordered their hot pot this time, but everytime I go there the dishes were fresh and flavorful. The staff were friendly, and the restaurant was welcoming. I'll definitely be back and highly recommend it to anyone looking for delicious Chinese food.

This restaurant was delicious! Great Sichuan flavor and just the right amount of spice too! The portions were quite large and more than enough for leftovers! I would suggest that the waitstaff check to see if customers need their water glasses filled or if they need additional rice due to spiciness of their dishes! Overall, our family enjoyed eating here and would definitely come back to try other entrees on the menu!

Foods not bad here and I think it's a good place to go as a group! However, what I find annoying is the staff always speak to me in Chinese and as a Korean, I don't understand what they say to me and I told them I don't speak Chinese. It was funny first few times, but it happens every time I go there and now I started to find it annoying. However, this is my personal experience and not related to their food quality so if you are looking for some good Chinese restaurant, try it out here and go to Rita's for dessert ;)

THIS IS THE DISH! IT ROCKS.

Still a great place. If you know what to order, you'll cause a wave of "oooos" and "aaaahs" throughout the restaurant! We also got their "homemade tofu" dish.. but took it home to enjoy the next day because after "Gold and Silver Buns", "Dumplings in Hot Chili Oil", and the fish, we had no room left! :) Just describe it to them and they'll make it. I still don't even know what this dish is called, but it is fish in batter with vegetables in a sauce with cumin and fermented bean paste! Have no complaints about the service, though it was a little haphazard everyone was very nice

This place is pretty good for traditional Chinese food and they have a lot of variety of spicy, sweet, and savory dishes. Some of the dishes are better than others but it's all based on your preferences. The service here is pretty quick. The inside is decorated appropriately.

We're always on the hunt for good Chinese food wherever we go. Some friends who are local to the area suggested Yue Bai Wei as a very authentic Sichuan food place. It's a newer Chinese restaurant compared to some others in the area. We ordered the mapo tofu, Chongqing popcorn chicken (laziji), Sichuan cold noodles, and pork intestines. The cold noodles were my favorite! Make sure to give them a stir since some of the sauce is buried at the bottom. The noodles were packed with flavor and salted and spiced to the perfect degree. The mapo tofu sauce was good, but the tofu itself could've been better if it absorbed more flavor of the sauce. The laziji pretty crispy but we thought there was too much flour coating. My bf really liked the pork intestines though and said it didn't have any sort of gamey flavor that usually comes with organs of any kind. In addition to these dishes, we also got some fresh plum juice (suan mei tang). The server advertised it to us as we sat down and since it was a hot day, we gave in and ordered one. It was refreshing and a good balance of sweet and sour. Overall, this is a pretty nice place and we'll be back.

This location, formerly occupied by Rose Tea Cafe, now is my "go-to" place for my all-time favorite dish - MaPo Tofu. Not only that, they open later than the usual 8:30 or 9 pm time, allowing me enough time to make it there for late dinners. Consistency in flavors, variety of dishes and always fresh tasting rice are never bad reasons to keep returning. Sample Recommendations: Chef flavor lamb chops. Like eating crispy fried chicken, only more luxurious. The szechuan spice rub delivers good level of heat without being too hot while a sauteed hill of onions, bell peppers and bean sprouts take the edge off. It is a large portion of eight so bring a loved one! Shrimp with vermecilli and garlic. Shrimps are butterflied and layered strategically over a bed of glasslike noodles. Tastewise, the seafood meat is laced with smears of pounded garlic paste. The result is nearly akin to mini lobsters in a scampi though no breading is present. The vermicelli could use a boost in quantity to match the number of red creatures stomping its grounds. It is blended with napa cabbage. The wide dish is visually decieving though, you'll still be hungry after eating it so ensure a full meal by adding other items!

Decent Chinese food. There are certainly many other places near this one that I would prefer and recommend over it, but Yue Bai Wei isn't bad. I ordered the pan fried pork dumplings, a spring roll, egg roll, and the Golden and Silver small buns for dessert. None of the food stood out as particularly good, but I didn't venture outside of what I usually order at Chinese restaurants, so that may be why. This place probably does more authentic dishes better than they make the traditional American-Chinese dishes. The dumplings, do example, were just decent. The dough was somewhat flimsy, and they were on the expensive side. Meat was decent but not that flavorful, and the dipping sauce was on the acidic side (as opposed to the sweeter sauce it is usually served with). Didn't really have much flavor, and the outside did not seem "fried". The spring and egg rolls were both not bad, but I've had better. The spring rolls were packed with vegetables and were relatively crispy, so that's nice. Price was alright for the portion (you get 2 for $3) and they are served with a bunch of complimentary sauce packets. The egg roll was also fairly good, but it was mostly cabbage on the inside and not very crunchy. The silver and small buns really caught my eye, and I was not sure what to expect from them. It was again more of the same decent food, but didn't blow me away. I liked the golden buns more, since they seemed to be fried and were crunchier. Of course the condensed milk was delicious as well. White buns had virtually no flavor at all; I would have much preferred it just be Gold Buns without the silver. And they were somewhat expensive as well. All in all, the place is just very decent. Solid food, but nothing that really blew me away. Prices are on the slightly more expensive side. Maybe some of the other menu items are better, but I believe there are better Chinese spots in the area.

This place is impeccable. Yue Wei Bai absolutely nailed the art of cooking in a flaming wok. Their dishes has a fresh smoky taste. Plus their Jumbo Pots can feed my whole crew of 5 adults. In addition to the fantastic food , the customer service was good too. The ambiance was definitely family friendly. 100/100 recommend.

After my most recent order, I'm no longer concerned. The space itself is nicely presented and spacious, providing enough room to ensure tables don't feel too dense or on top of one another. We ordered takeout this time, and the online ordering experience was generally good (but could be improved). Our order was very nicely packaged to survive the trip home. The front of house staff were very kind and helpful, but they also seemed to be stretched a little thin. In terms of the food, everything was packed with flavor and texture. I particularly enjoy the Sichuan pickled vegetables, which tend to be a combination of pickled radish and tiny peppers with some heat coming from dried pepper flakes. The spicy wood ear mushroom is another nice appetizer. We ordered several different items, but the squid in hot and spicy pot really stood out. Our dish didn't match the photos on the ordering page, but I would argue that the result was even better. A nice balance of spice and dried hot peppers, without being overwhelming. A nice crunch from some sliced taro root. A nice texture from both squid and fish cakes. The quick fried cabbage and sautéed snow pea leaves were both excellent pairings and added some vegetable matter. All told, this continues to be an excellent destination. Highly recommended for both dine-in and take-out.

The sauce is very sweet, but I enjoyed it. It has a good bit of garlic and some nice ginger in there. The eggplant was soft and melted in my mouth. I liked my server. I tried to joke with the older lady, but there was quite a language barrier. It is a bit pricey for the sort of Chinese food that they make, but pretty good and they give you a lot of food. I will most likely be eating it again, but not sure how good it will be the next day. Overall I enjoyed the meal. It is pretty typical Chinese food, but well cooked. I kind of wish I could find some place where the sauces were not overly sweet, but I guess that is hard to find. I wonder if they have a black bean sauce, or something more savory. I might be back to try something like that.

I only had maybe a couple bites of those and can't comment too much since it's been almost two weeks. These dishes are a fan favorite among my CMU alumni friends. The food was good and legit with most dishes priced under $20. Definitely check it out if you're in the area craving Taiwanese food -- one of the best meals I had in Pittsburgh!
