They're re-opening this Monday the 20th. I was hoping to score some coconut bread today, but no dice. Next time Canton.

See you next time. Will be back for the coconut bread. As well as the chicken and pork buns.

I've been coming here since I was a kid, and I'm thrilled they've reopened under new ownership. The coconut bread has always been my favorite, and I'm glad they kept the same menu items. Although the display cases were a bit empty, there were plenty of goodies in the back. The coconut bread has significantly improved with the new management; they now serve it warm, and it's incredibly fluffy and moist. Support small businesses and make sure you give them a try!!!

Delicious pork buns. This bakery does not disappoint. The closest I've come to char siu manapua. Ample free parking. No restroom. No dining area. Accepts cash or card.

One of my favorite bakery; I've been coming here since I was a kid. The inside of the bakery definitely changed; it was like a Mom and Pops bakery back then with fake cake displays, cakes displayed in the bigger fridge behind the counter, small pastries on the front display. I haven't been here as of lately and it's an upgrade. It has cute decors. Customer service is always excellent here. My go to favorite is their coconut bread and bbq pork bun. Omg they taste just like when I had it back then. So happy they didn't change up the ingredients. Brought back childhood memories. They now accept cards and Apple Pay! I used to love ordering cakes from here. They were tasty and good quality. Unfortunately I don't visit the area like I used to hence why I haven't been here. Plenty of parking.

We all know San Diego doesn't have a Chinatown. So every time I go to LA, I always make sure to stop in Chinatown for pastries and baked buns. Then I found out just recently about this place. Based on the reviews I said why not I'll give it a try. I bought the coconut buns. Pork and chicken buns. Pretty good I must say

Since moving up North, it's been more than a decade since I've been back to this bakery. Found out that they're under new ownership but served the same baked goods. When I walked in, the bakery display cases were extremely sparse. Only a few baked goods and a bunch of bags of various potato chips. I asked if they had baked pork buns and the girl at the front had to go back to ask. Thankfully, they had some so I paid for them and waited. They were $3.00 a piece. I wanted to purchase steamed ones as well but they were sold out. I also bought a pack of coconut bread which had 4 pieces for $5.00. I was surprised that I had to wait as long as I did for the pork buns but when we got home and tried them I had a hunch that they had been reheated and not freshly made. Sadly, the taste was good but the bread even though they were still warm, was a bit hard & chewy. The coconut bread however, was the complete opposite. Absolutely delicious! It was soft & pillowy with just the right amount of filling. Unfortunately, it's not worth the 45 minute drive to get there from where I live. I'd probably only go back for the coconut bread if I was in the area - which is a rarity.

After celebrating my friend's birthday, we decided to make a stop at Chinese Canton Bakery located in National City on Plaza Blvd. I couldn't resist ordering both the baked chicken bun and the pork bun, and I must say, they were absolutely delicious. However, if I had to choose a favorite, the pork bun took the crown. To share the goodness with my friend's family in OC, I purchased three boxes of buns. Two boxes were dedicated to them, featuring a mix of chicken and pork buns, while I kept one box for myself. The buns were thoughtfully packed, ensuring their freshness and keeping them intact for the journey. It was a convenient way to share these delightful treats with loved ones. During my visit, I stumbled upon a delightful spot within Chinese Canton Bakery. Against a charming pink backdrop, there was a swing that exuded a playful ambiance. It was the perfect setting for capturing memorable photos, and I managed to snap a fantastic picture of my friend in that picturesque spot. The combination of the swing and the pink background added an extra touch of whimsy to the overall experience. Let's start with the baked chicken bun. Its soft and fluffy texture was complemented by a hint of sweetness, which created a delightful contrast to the savory chicken filling. The chicken itself was tender, well-seasoned, and bursting with flavor. It was a lighter option for those seeking a poultry-based treat. Moving on to the pork bun, the bun was equally soft and fluffy, providing a delightful base for the star of the show--the flavorful pork filling. Each bite was a burst of savory goodness, perfectly seasoned to tantalize the taste buds. The combination of textures and flavors in the pork bun made it an absolute must-try, especially for pork enthusiasts. Chinese Canton Bakery impressed me not only with its delectable buns but also with its friendly and efficient service. The staff was attentive and helpful, ensuring that my order was taken care of and that I had a satisfactory experience. The warm and welcoming atmosphere of the bakery added to the overall enjoyment of savoring the snacks. Considering the quality and taste of the food, the prices at Chinese Canton Bakery were reasonable. The portions were generous, and the flavors were well worth the price. Whether you're a bun enthusiast or simply love Chinese baked goods, a visit to Chinese Canton Bakery on Plaza Blvd in National City is highly recommended. Chinese Canton Bakery is a delightful destination for bun lovers. With its mouthwatering baked chicken and pork buns, friendly service, cozy atmosphere, and a charming spot with a swing against a pink backdrop, it offers an experience that is both enjoyable and Instagram-worthy. Don't miss the opportunity to indulge in these flavorsome treats and capture lasting memories.

January 2024 Store hours but may still be open if they don't run out of baked goods.

Finally checking this place out with the new ownership. Store hours say open Monday - Saturday 9-5p but came here on a weekday at 530p and it was still open due to baked goods still being in stock. I ordered 3 steamed pork buns and 3 baked pork buns. Came in a box. I should've opened it to check the contents cos I ended up getting 6 baked pork buns. Quality is there. Will have to come back again and check out the other items.

The best cake I ever eaten. Less sugar and very good for diabetic like me. I was thinking to take home the top layer; However a lot of people asking for some more and all of them finished no left over. That is mean the cake was good. I recommend to order the cake from them. Trust me you will be wanted some more

OMG just as good as I remember from 30 years ago! The coconut rolls (4 pack) are buttery and tasty. The ube cake was very flavorful and the frosting was nice and sweet. The steamed char siu bau has amazing filling flavors. The best part was they now keep everything in warmers in the back so it's nice and warm, almost Fresh from the oven. So delicious. Store hours are until 5 pm. Will definitely visit again when in the area!

So, if you never had a pandesal and you love bread, you must try this! Get them warm and fresh, with butter, OMG! But, they have so many other desserts and food bites to try. We specifically came for the fresh pandesal, which I was craving and my husband, the best, searched for a place to enjoy some fresh pandesal. This last visit we got Ensamayda (cheese roll) for our daughters. They also have the Ube Ensamayda. Besides the small sized pandesal we selected, we got a Mocha Roll too. Everything was delicious. I like the small sized pandesal but I could definitely eat the larger ones too. Parking is crazy here in this long strip mall full of food shops. Not only is parking crazy busy, but the spaces are small. You can find me back here at this Filipino Bakery when in the area!
