Probably have ordered 20 total cakes from Lamber's-- most strawberry (w/ a few having bananas) in 30+ years in San Diego. Grew up in L.A., 20 min from Chinatown, not far from Monterey Pk and Lamber's cakes are very similar in flavor, moisture, textur, and consistency! In 2025, my next cake will be from Lamber's due to the perfect sweetness level for my palate! (Sadly too many baked goods and cakes are overly processed and way too sweet for my taste!) read more

Husband and I came in for the first time and got the strawberry 10 in cake. It was so delicious, fluffy and moist and reminded me of the Chinese strawberry cakes I used to have growing up. The owner was very friendly (: we came in at 7pm and she pulled a freshly made cake from the back for us. My family and I have been coming to Lambers for the past 25+ years for their cakes. They are as delicious now as they were then. We have had their cakes for weddings, birthdays (last one just 2 mothers ago) and most every event in between. Even their tiny cakes are perfect when we have guests visiting from out of town to serve something sweet and special to them. . The strawberry and strawberry banana fruit are so fresh and the cake itself is soft and spongy: the whip cream so light, it almost feels guilt free if I had more than one piece. She also made all my birthday cakes since I was a kid I love there cakes it's differnt from all amercian cakes. It's a huge hit In stead of gifts they get a cake. At work everybody always ask me where is this place? They "Love it" excellent quality and fairly priced. I absolutely love the cakes here. I happen to work with the owners daughter. Last Thursday before my actual birthday, I got a banana and strawberry cake with whipped cream which is a better alternative to the sugar frosting. The cake was moist and the whipped cream in the middle along with the strawberries and bananas were delicious. Not too sweet. Just how I like my cakes. I have an occasional sweet tooth. I have also tried the cheese bread. The bread is always moist and the cream cheese in the bread is smooth. Perfect combination! My co worker would bring cakes for birthdays or special events, so she hooks us up. On random days, she would bring the cheese bread. I highly recommend this place! Cakes are awesome! read more

There were wedding cake cookies, tres leches and strawberry shortcakes, EVEN BAKLAVA! wth? Don't get me wrong, the lady was nice, VERY nice. I was also expecting her to be....chinese. She was filipino, maybe she was half? who knows? but I DO know their wedding cakes are good, since we tried two of their cakes. I also wish, she didn't make us feel rushed just so she can continue talking to the other lady that probably is a close close friend...a 'regular'. I just believe that if it's called a chinese bakery, I would like to enjoy some chinese baked goods? It's ok. She even offered a few suggestions...however, the chocolate mousse cake I bought had a hardened outside that comes from prolonged refrigeration...not only that but it tasted really, really bland.
