Pretty good, but didn't blow me out of the water like so many people say. It's college-grade Chinese food, not gourmet Chinese.

First visit on 11/13 -- just working my way through the local alternatives. I ordered the "special string beans w/ meat" (chose pork), for $8-9 or so. Good portion, as others have said. The sauce was tasty, the beans were pole beans instead of string, but cooked to my satisfaction. The meat quantity seemed light for the price, perhaps 1/2 cup full. For the market they're in, that felt over-priced. Hopefully, the digestive discomfort that disturbed my sleep that night was coincidental rather than consequential. The food here is decent for a college town but their service and specials are great. Order by phone and it will be ready in typically 15 mins or less. I would recommend going here for lunch because they give you a bunch of food for a lunch portion read more

Not pleased at all with the food. Soups were ok but the low mein had barely any beef in it and no flavor. The sweet and sour shrimp had SO much breading on it it was literally a shrimp bread roll. Delivery came pretty quickly. read more

We ordered delivery and charged us more than was on the website. Then, when they delivered our food, they forgot one of the like 4 things we ordered. When we called to ask them about it, the man said he did not understand and we were put on hold. Overall, The food was bland and dry. Will not be ordered from them again. read more

Best Chinese food in town! Might take a while if you get it delivered but the food is worth it.

The wonton soup was good but the sesame chicken was tasteless and the batter was thin and soggy. The shrimp with lobster sauce was watery and tasteless but the 4 shrimp were good. The beef in the beef with broccoli was just gross. I have never seen beef that was shaped like tentacles... Was stringy and chewy. The quality of the pork in the pork fried rice was good but it was that and some onions in it... That was it. The filling in the crab Rangoon was good but there was too much of the dough. The quality of the spareribs were okay but they were breaded which gave it a soggy and strange texture and the sauce tastes like duck sauce. Might have been okay without the breaking but with it made them inedible. I tried to say some positive things but the truth is we threw out $50 worth of food as it was mostly inedible. read more

My family calls this "The Hole in the Wall Chinese" because its just tucked into the stripmall in a little space without much seating... but its wonderful! The dumplings are my favorite, they're delicious either steamed or fried. My mother always gets the cashew chicken and its very good, too. The guy at the register is very nice, and he remembers our usual orders whenever we come in! This would be five star if it were cleaner and wasn't so cramped. As is, its delicious and inexpensive so I'll keep going back! read more

Did several take outs and once dine in. It's a fast food Chinese take out joint. Had tried their hot & sour soup (starchy & salty), fried dumpling oily and doughy, chicken lo mien, again oily. Kung Pao chicken too heavy with soy. Food was not memorable. Gave it three tries. Will not be returning any time soon. read more

Chinese Kitchen is my favorite Chinese food in the area. They make your order quick and it's tasty! They have great beef sticks and crab rangoon. One of my favorite things about this place is that you can order online and often times there are coupon codes to get it cheaper! read more

We've been eating at Chinese Kitchen for years and I can say they are consistently the best value for good food (quality and quantity) around that side of Blacksburg. The biggest detraction is the lack of delivery because the location is a true hole in the wall with just a handful of tables. The lunch combos are the best value with loads of rice, soup and cheaper than a fast food combo. No, it's not Chinese if you've eaten in Chinatown in New York or San Fran but it's better than most places around here. Excellent (but greasy) Lo Mein. Lots of cheap soup. Nothing is very spicy regardless of the pepper symbols on the menu. This continues to be our go to place for a box full of cheap but good quality Chinese. read more

This is the best Chinese in Blacksburg. That being sad it's not amazing at all. All Chinese in Blacksburg is mediocre. This one happens to be the best of the mediocre restaurants. The food is prepared quickly. There's always a long line during lunch which is good to see. I wish I could swap out my soup for an egg roll without paying extra. read more

Sweet and sour chicken has been over cooked and hard as rocks the last few times I've eaten here.

These guys don't get enough credit for the service they provide. For $6, their lunch specials are an amazing deal and you get enough food for the day. I always order the sweet & sour chicken for lunch, and have never had an issue with it. As for their service, they receive several delivery orders, and have even had to hire new drivers. I make it a point to eat here every time I buy groceries. Reliable food, fast service, and a good deal. read more

Absolutely terrible food and service. We ordered beef and broccoli but were given anything but that. It was so undercooked, it resembles pure fat than beef. We actually thought it was chicken, but when we went in to return it, were told it was in fact beef. I asked if we could just get a chicken and broccoli order instead and was told that I should have known better than to order this dish if I actually wanted something different . This was our first time so I couldn't have know how it was cooked. I will not be returning here and will not recommend it to anyone. read more

I've ordered delivery from here twice now. The first time was OK; however, the second time was pretty bad. The General Tsos (my go-to, normally) is so stringy and hard to chew. It just didn't even have the texture of real chicken. The crab rangoons and egg drop soup are pretty good, but because of the chicken, I don't think I'll ever go back. Came here way to much when I went to Tech. Definitely best take-out Chinese in town for the price. Usually only came during lunch time, good portion of food for about $5.The actual restaurant itself is kind of cluttered inside, their phone skills may not be the best, but the service is fast. The food is pretty good considering the price. I will say however, sometimes the food may not be consistent. For example, sometimes the General Tso Chicken is flavorful and hot; other times it may be rubbery/chewy. If you want fast, CHEAP, and decent americanized Chinese food, this is the spot. read more

My wife and I are new to Blacksburg and one evening decided to order up some Asian food. This place was close by and delivered, so we gave it a shot. It will be the last time. About the only things right were the rice and the delivery time. Our food arrived cold. The spare ribs were literally small chunks of bone floating in sauce - what meat was left was basically inedible. In all honesty, this was the worst Chinese delivery I have ever had. Ordered the Chicken with Garlic Sauce and a shrimp roll. Couldn't taste the garlic (or the sauce itself, for that matter). Not bad portions, but no flavor at all. The dining room is really dingy, too. There are empty cardboard boxes stacked to the ceiling in one corner; probably a fire hazard. Two good things: the shrimp roll was good, with a delicate crispy wrap, and the girl I ordered from saved me a few bucks by recommending their dinner special (instead of the full meal). read more

Frankly this was the worst Chinese food I have ever had. I order Kung Pao Chicken which came loaded with celery, mushrooms, and a few peanuts. The sauce was light, bland and absent any heat. Two bites and tossed in trash. Singapore noodles just as bad. Bland and oily and some of the meat was undercooked. Again, tossed in the trash. I will never go back! read more

This place was delicious 4 years ago when I was in undergrad. Something changed and it is now terrible. Very dry veg lo mein with no veggies and no sauce and no flavor. Best Chinese in Blacksburg, period. Their lunch specials are awesome. For 5 bucks you get two meals worth of food (they are a bit heavy on the rice compared to the meat and veggies but that's every Chinese place). Their have a huge menu and service is fairly quick. As a Blacksburg native with over 20 years of experience trying all of the Chinese food in town, I believe I can safely say that Chinese Kitchen is, and has always been, my favorite. Cheap, fast, and delicious. Everyone's tastes in Chinese food is different, and you might find other places that have certain dishes you prefer more, but all of my friends and family prefer Chinese Kitchen overall and that's gotta be saying something. read more

This food was tasty, but I've had a lot better. If you want Americanized Chinese in Blacksburg, this place is second to China Inn.

I haven't tried anything outside of General Tsao's Chicken and Sweet and Sour Pork, but as far as those two dishes, this is the best Chinese place in Blacksburg. It's fast and inexpensive. I'm sure there are better, more expensive Chinese restaurants out there, but I haven't eaten there. I can say that the General Tsao's Chicken here is better than PF Chang's and way cheaper. The staff here are always pretty friendly. The food is good, and the portions are plentiful. The speed is pretty good as well - by the time I call them up and walk over, my order is usually ready to go. What more could you ask for? It's a great local place for a quick lunch or dinner. If I could give them 0 starts I would. I called to place an order and they told me they were too busy to talk to me, but I could order through grubhub. That should have been a clue. So I ordered on grubhub and 3 hours later after calling 2 times I finally got my cold gerneral tso's chicken. Ridiculous. The fried dumplings were delivered soggy and had very little meat in them. They were tasty, though. The chicken lo mein, quite simply, was disgusting. It lacked any flavor, and the greyish colored chicken was not cooked properly. Would not recommend - at least those two dishes. read more
