Coming back to The Clinkscale for a second time--after such an unforgettable honeymoon experience back in November--just confirmed what we already knew: this place is truly something special. Traveling back to Arizona, we knew we had to return, and once again, it exceeded every expectation. What hotel restaurant in America's largest ghosttown lives up to its rating? The Clinkscale!!! I thought more than once the men on the staff need handlebar mustaches but that may have made this quaint atmosphere with 1899 vibes, ragtime music playing softly and modern fixtures, kitchy. The staff was kind with the right "attitude". Conversational but not chatty if that makes sense. Didn't stay at the table too long but also didn't act like you're unimportant. The food here ranged from good to amazing for us. Let me tell you about it... Truffle fries: My preferred fry type is skinny and the were just that. Skinnier than McDonald's but not to where they became crisps. Parmesan reggiano was shaved throughout the cone of fries not just on top. They come with a garlic aioli that taste more like a lemon ranch sauce but was still delicious. Get 2 orders if these abd eat them all. Artisan grilled cheese and poblano tomato soup: Soup was creamy and could definitely taste the poblano. The grilled cheese went 50/50 amongst us. The 2 who didnt like the grilled cheese was because of the goat like cheese on it. The sort of sharp sour flavor was off putting. Eggs Benedict with grits: The birthday girl prefers a runny egg and wasn't given the option, however the Canadian bacon on the bene was a hit abd left room for the star of this plate, the grits. Perfectly cooked and flavor was a 10. Gives the fries a run for their $$$. Chicken fried steak: Was said to be really good, specifically the texture. You know I dont eat beef so didnt taste it but it was enjoyed. Lemon ricotta pancakes: Huge pancakes that were tasty and carried the lemon flavor heartily, however the best LR pancakes I've had melt in your mouth and did not need syrup or sweetening. These didnt and were good with syrup. The blueberries on the dish were amazing, large and sweet. Basil grilled chicken sandwich with side salad: EXCELLENT sandwich with clean basic ingredients. Thin slices grilled chicken was not overly cooked. The 1st half was good warm and the other half just as good when I ate it cold at 2:00 am. Side salad was a spring mix with spinach (I think) and a white balsamic dressing NEED to know the name of orange how to make it. This salad would change my daily diet and overall health as I would eat it everyday! The Clinkscale has a well earned rep so wax your 'stache before you EAT and DRINK here. read more

A true gem in the heart of the quaint heart of Jerome . Was recommended by my inn keeper and it did not disappoint . The bartender crafted me an expresso martini made with bourbon and cinnamon creme it was the best I've ever had , and I'm pretty picky about them . It was busy because of tourism, but everything else is too. I walked around and the text only took a few minutes to get me in. I really didn't know what to expect from their menu descriptions, so I figured the egg sandwich would be safe. It was still weird compared to other establishments, but very tasty. Initially we had dinner reservation at 5 but we had time for lunch and due to weather we opted to have quick small bite for lunch and cancel dinner. We weren't too hungry since we had late breakfast. Ordered the grilled&chilled shrimp and tossed caeser salad. Staff was friendly and restaurant was pretty packed specially after it started raining. Now presentation of the shrimp dish was done nice, and dressed up fancy . Shrimp was pretty darn good with flavor and nice grilled char on it. Cocktail sauce and I think server said garlic aioli for dipping were yummy. Casaer salad was pretty good and had plenty of salad dressing mixed into it. I wanted the try the peach cobbler but time did not work in our favor. Now over all food was pretty good and service was pretty good. But for 6 shrimp for $18.95 seems over kill. That's $3 per shrimp they were decent size but not that big. Over all food was good and atmosphere was good (but it is a bar so it can be very loud). What a perfect little placed tucked away in Jerome! The drinks were fire- we tried the mango margarita, French 75, and a dirty martini with hands down the best blue cheese olives I ever had- dinner and dessert were all delish! Walk. Don't run to The Clinkscale to get the cast iron skillet 8oz filet mignon. I say, "Walk," because I don't want to actually let anyone know just how good this filet is. Salt and butter cooked medium rare is typically the not-so-secret key to getting a decent filet but the way this filet is seasoned here is savory but also somehow also a hint of sweet. It's the yin-yang balance of filets that you didn't know you were searching for all of your life. I included two photos of the 16oz bone in ribeye that my husband ordered because the smaller ribeye was cooked medium well and we were surprised and sad and weren't going to say anything, but our funny and adorable blond waitress with glasses (I forgot her name!! eeeek), gasped and said "Give me, give me give me" with out-reached grasping hands as she quickly remedied the situation and they returned with a bigger ribeye eye cooked perfectly medium rare on the rarer side and gifted us with a side of a mashed potato purée that all of our group of friends tried to steal from him once we tried a bite. We loved Clinkscale! First, we were greeted quickly at the door and seated at a booth. Our server came by right away to take our drink order and we were ready to order already by the time he came back. Our food came out fast and was so fresh! I got the breakfast sandwich which came with potatoes that were seasoned really well. The breakfast sandwich was good too. I think the brioche bun took away from the sandwich a little bit because there was a large bread to toppings ratio, but nonetheless it was still really tasty. My boyfriend got the lemon blueberry ricotta pancakes and I couldn't stop stealing a bite. They were probably some of the best pancakes I've ever had. Great experience here. Our first time in Jerome and we happened upon this little gem. We ordered the turkey au jus and the tortellini salad. Would've tried one of their specialty cocktails, except the drive to get here and down is pretty treacherous. Also, I have been wanting to try some Arizona wine, but their offerings did not include that. Both entrees were served at an appropriate temperature and contained fresh ingredients. The taste was quite good and serving sizes adequate. The service was very good with the server checking on us several times and the manager also stopping by. The atmosphere was upbeat and pleasant, although a little loud due to the structure of the building. I would highly recommend dining at this spot, however probably not with small children. read more

All the food was delicious! We got the Chilled Shrimp, Guacamole and Beignets. My family said the shrimp was amazing!!! I got the guacamole as a snack and it was great, the salsa was the real star of that dish though. And the beignets came with a raspberry sauce, chocolate sauce and vanilla cream. Slick, upscale restaurant high up the mountain in ol' Jerome. Immediately upon sit-down, we were notified that Clinkscale undoubtedly is the #1 Top Restaurant in Arizona. Seems bold, I thought. Bold and insane, much rather like the town of Jerome itself. Anyway, we ordered the shrimp dish starter. Which was pretty decent. For my main, I ordered the cauliflower steak burger, which was all vegetarian. It was pretty solid actually, thanks for asking. I didn't really hate the taste of the cauliflower. For side I ordered greens, though that was only like 3-5 spinach leaves. In hindsight not smartest choice. I also got tomato poblano soup separately, since I heard so much on it. It was decent, nothing to write home about. Others in table got some beef burger and basil chicken sandwich. I tried like half the chicken, I thought that was pretty good. Last up, their famed beignets. Stole that for desserts. I snagged like two. Powdered fried donuts or such, it was pretty awesome. Three sauces vanilla chocolate and raspberry, the last two my favorites. We packed two of em to go. All in all, solid restaurant in Jerome. I'd say the claim of this being #1 in Arizona is out there, like that Tesla Roadster in Outer Space; suffice to say, The Clinkscale was pretty decent fare and hit the spot for lunch. read more

First visit this weekend, for an early dinner around 5pm. We were able to walk in and sit immediately. Service was attentive and thorough. What we liked: we ordered the Chopped Salad as an appetizer, and that was a good plate to share. The cheese, tomatoes, chives, papitas, couscous, raisins, and corn are served side-by-side atop a bed of greens, and all can be dressed with a very tasty buttermilk ranch dressing (I think). This is a fabulous salad and is every bit as good as the famous chopped salad at Citizen's Public House in Scottsdale. For mains, I ordered the miso-glazed salmon and my wife had the grilled cheese with roasted tomato-poblano soup. Fabulous is also the right word to describe my salmon plate, which featured a salty, charbroiled wild filet topped with a pickled slaw and plated on top of a rich, cheesy mashed potato. The signature roasted tomato-poblano soup had just the right toasted vegetable flavor I want from any soup that starts with 'roasted.' Dessert was a must after two spot-on courses. The cinnamon-heavy peach bread pudding had the right texture and moisture, not to mention its perfect spicy-sweet-tart flavor and excellent homemade ice cream sidekick. Closing thought: the Clinkscale is, without doubt, the best restaurant in Yavapai County, and that includes everywhere we've ever been in Cottonwood, Prescott, Payson, Pine, and (gasp) Sedona. I'm normally leary of restuarants attached to hotels. However, this restuarant was fantastic. We drove from cottonwood to see Jerome and have breakfast. The restuarant is a cute design. It isn't a large restuarant so probably not great for large groups. We were immediately seated and our drink orders taken. The waitress was attentive and served with a smile. The food....everything we had was absolutely delicious! It was savory and full of flavor. Definitely recommend for breakfast. When we left there was a wait to be seated. This was our first overnight stay at Clinkscale as well as our first dining experience. The service was impeccable, with one exception. That being our server was obviously a newbie. He missed our need for service. Then, who pops out of nowhere was Christine, another server, who saw that we were obviously stressed about no attention from our server (at least 30 min). We just wanted dessert! Christine accommodated us immediately and was so pleasant and gracious that our stress disappeared. She is an amazing server, is on top of things, with great people skills and intuitiveness. Joe, the bartender, was very friendly, funny and accommodating.
