I have been looking for a good bbq food cart in or near Beaverton and I found it at the Food Pod on Cornell. The food pod is called "Carts@Xplore and the food truck I am referring to is "Chin's BBQ." They were closed the first time we visited this pod because it was a Wednesday, but luckily they were open the 2nd time we visited. Oh man, the lunch I had was delicious! I ordered brisket and rib combo sandwich of brisket and pulled pork, a marriage made in BBQ heaven! My wife ordered a fish and chips sandwich from another nearby cart, but she thought my lunch was far superior to what she got. I can definitely recommend this cart and I will definitely be back! Went here last Saturday with my daughter after she caught a glimpse from an instagram post. Their #2 Barrel Sandwich with Brisket was delicious! The bread was properly grilled adding that toast to help firm the bun without allowing it to fall apart in someone's face. The coleslaw compliments the flavors. I had it with the original sauce which was tangy but not spicy at all. They also have a sweet sauce but I think I'll try that next time. Well done! My daughter had the crowded potato. It was delicious at first but we were surprised that the bottom of this dish was actually 3 large potatoes. After eating all the ingredients at the top, there was nothing but these 3 potatoes left which was disappointing but there was nothing else to eat with these. Ended up throwing it away. I can't speak for their ribs but it could be what I'll be targeting next. The price was decent and the owners friendly. Meal also comes with a bag of chips. Parking was plenty but people started arriving. The lot shares the kids play indoor play area called Xplore hence the name of the food truck area. The food truck area is situated on a hill and some parts are not even with the food trucks on the left side having pallet stands so you can look at the vendor when placing orders. If I could give this 20 stars I would. I went to the truck in the xplore lot off of Bethany and Cornell. I wanted brisket but decided on baby back ribs. They had bbq sauce which I thought was a problem. No! They were lightly glazed with bbq sauce that gave the ribs a slight sweetness. That combined with the seasoning made those ribs the best ribs that I have ever tasted. I can't recommend this place enough. If you think that you have had great ribs before you need to try these. Been here a couple of times and got the baked potato with brisket and nachos. The baked potato regarding the overall taste is okay, I just wish that the potato itself was seasoned more. The toppings taste fine, but I think they would taste much better if the potato itself was seasoned more. Nachos are fine as well, not the best thing out there but not bad. They give fair portions for the amount that you pay, but generally speaking the prices are a bit on the high side for what you pay for comparing to other BBQ food carts. read more

I am picky when it comes to my BBQ and boy did Chins BBQ not disappoint! Chins BBQ is located at the Hillsboro downtown station food carts. You can see that they smoke all of their meats on premises as there is a large smoker right next to the cart. I especially enjoyed the sweet ribs and the beans. The meat was tender and flavorful. My husband said he will definitely be back! There is plenty of seating indoor and parking in the street and dedicated parking lot. The employees were extremely helpful and nice as well as reasonable prices for high quality BBQ. I wish they had chicken because I bet they could make some delicious chicken on that smoker. read more

Well, I had the stuffed potato with brisket! That is an understatement for stuffed. The potato was so extremely good, baked to be creamy not dried out! It's baked inside their smoker. You can see the cross marks of the screens. The mac & cheese was plentiful and the brisket was so tender. The lady making it was real friendly I came back and told her how much I liked it. We ate inside the building which was heated, has coffee shop, beer and wine and plenty of seating. I will be back. I wish I would've taken a picture, but I thought about that afterwards. read more

This BBQ place is in a food truck court where everything is overpriced (higher than Portland prices); one sandwich was $19 as were the nachos. I got 1 brisket taco, brisket nachos, brisket beans, and coleslaw. The food was subpar across the board. Starting with the beans, they were simply watery pinto beans with little bits of brisket in them and no flavor beyond that; closer to something you'd expect at a Mexican restaurant, not at all what you'd expect from a bbq joint. The coleslaw tasted store bought at best, again lacking flavor. The brisket nachos were covered in a cheese sauce and those same beans. The brisket in the taco and on the nachos was okay but nothing tender. I also got the "sweet" instead of the "original" bbq sauce on the nachos thinking it would be like a Kansas City style but it was really just sweet and more sugary than anything else. Overall, I'm surprised that this, and every other vendor here, has such crazy high prices and if you're looking for good BBQ, I wouldn't recommend Chins. read more

We ordered the Mac bowl. 1 with Brisket and 1 with pulled pork. The Mac and cheese was watery and bland. The cole slaw was fresh, not too sweet but the portion was very small - probably less than 5% of the dish. The brisket was okay. The pulled pork was also underwhelming. The meat was probably less than 10% of the plate. The service was fast about 5 minutes. The cashier was friendly. The cart was well positioned, right next to the seating / bar area. Chin's was giving out samples of their mac n cheese, beans, and ribs. I was in disbelief, I didn't expect to be completely blown away by a sample before. There was an amazing, complex smokiness to the mac and cheese and the brisket beans were the best beans I've ever had (I'm a gal that lived in San Diego with a Mexican boyfriend and his family). I ordered a brisket El Chingon since it had both the amazing beans and brisket in one dish. The salt+pepper ribs stood on its own, and the meat was fall apart tender. I'm sure the sauced ribs would've been amazing. In fact, I'm confident everything on their menu would've been. I wish Chin's was closer to me, but it's best that it's far for my bank account's sake. read more

Food is okay, but overpriced for what you are getting. Sadly, I have found this to be case with many of the carts here. I ordered a half rack of ribs and received 7 ribs with no sides and paid $20 + a tip. For a handful or ribs with no sides from a food cart, I was hoping for way better. Also ordered a pulled pork sandwich for my father-in-law for $15. Again, just the sandwich with no sides. He had similar feedback to mine on the ribs. If these were about half the price or you received a full meal like most quality BBQ spots, I'd say the value would be there, but not for these prices unfortunately. read more
