Yesterday night I wanted to eat and my bf and I decided to go to the place next to where we were staying. We got the beef broccoli, rice, and orange chicken. We ordered around 8 in the night and the guy that got our order was easy to get our order down. The food was ready within about 10 minutes. This place is absolutely horrible. Ordered the cashew chicken and there was only 4-5 cashews in it and full of nasty lima beans and enough onions and celery to make an entire stock for a soup. Pork fried rice is drenched in soy sauce, no carrots or peas or any good stuff. Crab cheese puffs had about a dime size or less of actual crab/cheese filling. Spicy garlic chicken was wet and soggy. I was ready to be disappointed after I read some 2 star reviews. I was wrong. The egg rolls were fresh, light and crispy. The general Tao chicken was cooked perfectly. I should have read all the reviews. My review mimics the other 1 and 2 star reviews. I had a husband home with the flu and was on my way home from a 5 hour drive and just saw the 4 star rating and made a quick decision to order my takeout here. I digress... I will say the service was friendly. Sweet and sour sauce tasted like ketchup. Kung Pao "chicken" was an oily tub of celery with 10 small pieces of chicken, and not even spicy. The "pork" fried rice was oily rice with soy sauce no pork. The chow fun noodles had good flavor but were all stuck together and formed one big noodle. read more

Best General Tso's Chicken in Humboldt County! Don't be taken aback by the "hole in the wall" ambiance of the place. The food here is excellent. The service is superb. Paul is a wonderful host. He truly is. Yeah the place looks a lil old and what not on the exterior but don't let that deter you from a great Chinese meal. Everything tastes freshly made and the sheer amount of options on the menu is pretty crazy because it all sounds sooooo good. The outside isn't a good reflection of the food! My parents took me, they said it's under new ownership and has a great chef with new recipes. They were right. Very nice people but all of the food was mediocre to inedible. I have never seen a hot and sour soup that looked like beef gravy, but without any flavor. Zero spice. We tried staples General Tao and Szechuan Chicken, neither was the worst we've ever had, but not too far off. And again, asking for extra-extra-extra spicy meant very little. There aren't many decent Chinese restaurants in the area but I'd head to Lui's or Szechuan Garden every time over ever going back to Chins. read more

Happy to be here finally (: my parents and I came here on a few occasions and have always have great Chinese food, it's one of my favorite places to eat and i have been waiting quite a long time to eat here. A terrible late night mistake! Ordered take out last night from this place after being on the road for a full day. Should have got to a fast food place but I imagined hot and tasty Chinese food so I took a chance. Foolish move! Ordered Kung Pao Chicken, which usually is a delightful medley of vegetables, chicken and peanut in a dry and hot oil sauce. Guess what I got? A tub full of spicy oily celery and carrots, minced, and few slivers of chicken and about 5 peanuts. Mostly celery and oil. Completely unreal how a chef can produce such garbage and have the nerve to serve it. The place closed literally as I was grabbing my take out and we were on the road again so I had no one to hurl my tub of garbage at. Why can't people just cook decent food? I don't get it. I don't even have the skills or nasty ingredients to replicate what I got. How do they do it? read more

The chicken tasted good but the rice was obviously old. The customer service was great I called in my order and it was ready when I got there to pick it up, the man gave my daughter some fortune cookies and she was thrilled. I was really sketched about eating here because it looks like a dive, but my parents were paying so I figured I might as well try it! The staff is fantastic and the food is really good. My favorite is the lemon chicken. I highly recommend eating at Chin's. Great food and even better service! Arrived into town hungry and 15 mins before this restaurant closed. The owner was still so pleasant and welcoming, didn't rush us, and we had very delicious and warm food! After living in Eureka for a number of years, we finally tried this place because of the convenience (we live just south of Eureka) There has been no turning back ever since. Like all places I've heard mixed reviews from other people. This is a nice family restaurant with many regulars (I am now officially one of them, since I am addressed by name. I'm honestly really surprised that this place has such high ratings. I ordered a combo plate with chow mein and sweet and sour chicken, the chicken was decent, but the chow mein was pretty bad. It looked like they dumped a bag of frozen vegetables on top of it, there was corn, green beans, etc all the things you see in those frozen veggie bags. You would think that if you pay for restaurant priced food, the least they could do is serve you fresh veggies. The water cup that they gave me tasted faintly like soap, so it obviously wasn't cleaned properly. Anyway, I had plenty of leftovers, which I usually love, but I ended up throwing them away because they just weren't very good. Also, my body felt really gross the next day. Super greasy, gave me sweet and sour sauce instead of lemon chicken sauce... Batter on the chicken wasn't fully cooked and no utensils or napkins in the bag for my to go order... I had to make a spoon out of a styrofoam cup in my hotel room so I could eat my rice... The people working there were nice but the food could have been much better... I rarely write reviews, but I was extremely disappointed. I should have question my choice, because the place was almost empty during dinner time. I would have sent my meal back, but unfortunately it was take-out. I had the Moo Goo Gai Pan, Won Ton Soup and Fried Won Ton. The dish looked old. The vegetables were limp/over cooked. The serving of rice was tiny. The won ton soup taste like pure salt water with very little flavoring. The Fried Won Ton was fried flat noodles No Meat. When I called to tell them that I was given chips instead of fried won ton. I was told by the owner that this is the way they have been making the won ton recently. Whoever heard of fried won ton without the meat. Obviously a way to cut corners. Wouldn't recommend. read more
