I was in town, and decided to stop for lunch. The place was spotless, and everyone was friendly. I had the seafood scrambled egg chow fun. Chow fun noodles with shrimp, squid, eggs, fish cake, and veggies. Lunch came, and it was *HUGE!* It was like a stew. Plenty of ingredients, and everything tasted great. None of the seafood or veggies were under or overcooked. The only thing I could possibly say, was that the broth was a tiny bit salty for my personal taste, but not overly so. Excellent! Best food and atmosphere. Authentic tasting Thai. One of the best restaurants I've tried in Humboldt County hands down.

Upon entering, the first thing I noticed was the smell. The interior of the restaurant smelled like an old dirty motel room, maybe the carpet needs to be removed?. The interior is dated and unattractive. The place is in desperate need of an update. The service was great. the server was professional, quick and attentive. The food was terrible. We ordered fresh spring roll as appetizer. The spring rolls arrived quickly. The spring rolls did not taste good. The rolls had way too much bagged salad mix stuffed inside. The lettuce from the bagged salad tasted old. The rolls were not traditional. They didn't have mint, carrot, cabbage or any of the traditional veggies you normally find in Thai spring rolls. The peanut dipping sauce for the rolls was overwhelmingly gross. Present was far too much of some sort of seasoning or spice, like cumin or allspice sort of tasting. It overwhelmed the sauce rendering it inedible. I ordered the yellow curry. Again present in the curry was an off putting seasoning or spice. A very weird and not good taste. The yellow curry was over filled with carrots and potatoes. Far too much potato and carrots, along with the foul seasoning used made the curry inedible. In fact, potatoes should never have been added to the yellow curry. They added nothing good to the dish at all. My partner ordered drunken noodles. I tasted the drunken noodles. It also had a weird and very off putting seasoning or spice, such that to me, the drunken noodles were disgusting. Also the noodles were not fully cooked, as they were not tender but still a little hard in some of the noodles. The seasoning or spices used here do not appear to be typical for Thai restaurants and make their dishes overwhelmingly distasteful. They add the same weird seasonings/spices to everything apparently. Overall, save yourself the waste of hard earned money and go somewhere else. read more

Well thank goodness those owners are gone because the new THAI curry leaf is fantastic. The presentation and the flavors are great. My wife had pumpkin curry and I had eggplant w chicken. Both were superb . We heard the guy next to us tell the owner ( who walked around checking w everyone) it was the best spring egg rolls he has ever had. We noticed the filthy window sills and mirrors we were facing when seated in a booth, but still willing to overlook the obvious neglect of the FREEZING COLD room, and remained optimistic about the meal. The meal: Tempura shrimp-($12) was so obviously purchased frozen and thawed- almost. Still wet batter encasing tiny shrimp. Served lukewarm and square-shaped from the freezer pack. Then, we got Stir Fried Ginger($20) the sauce was delicious. We added chicken as our protein. We could hardly find the chicken amongst the veggies. We didn't come starving yet still left a little hungry tbh. The vegetable fried rice ($20) was average. Spendy though-right? This is SF price for... a sprinkle of veggies in rice. Yikes. I appreciate the flavors found at Curry Leaf because there aren't a lot of places to find them in Humboldt County. Also, this is super conveniently located just off the main road between Eureka and Arcata and very close to the shopping you do when you're running errands. I always find the place a little cold, but to be fair, I run on the cold side so I know to take a jacket. Aside from that it's bright and open and there is a beautiful fountain that sets a nice ambiance. We went for lunch today and the friendly gal who greeted and seated us then got our water, took our orders, and delivered our food. She was on top of it all and we didn't wait for anything. They have something for everyone here; veggies, meat, seafood, soups, noodles, rice dishes, sushi and drinks. My wife had the veggie stir fry which was plenty big to share. It came with white rice, a spring roll and miso soup. The stir fry had a good non spicy taste, which is the way she likes it. I had the spicy eggplant stir fry, which also came with white rice, a spring roll, and miso soup. The serving was big, could have been shared between diners if you decide to eat family style. The food came out piping hot, it always has when I have eaten here. The eggplant was very good, a nice amount of spice. I asked to add chicken to my lunch. Today it came out with fried chicken bites, like you would find in General Tao's chicken. The last time I added chicken to my meal here it was baked and much better. I spoke to the server about it and she advised me to specify how I wanted it next time I ordered it. I wasn't really upset about this. I am not fond of that kind of chicken but it makes sense that I could have been more clear. I'm only bringing it up so others can be aware and specify. We both had enough leftover to bring home for a dinner. We were in and out quickly, not rushed but also not waiting impatiently. Stopped in on a Saturday afternoon. It was mostly empty but we were warmly greeted by host, server and the owner. Owner checked in a couple of times in a pleasant, friendly, non-intrusive way. The space here is so large and awkward, the one piece of feedback I'd give would be to do something to make the seating feel more cozy. For people not from the area, the outside of the restaurant does not reflect the inside. It's in a weird neighborhood and some days the folks hanging outside can bring the vibe down. All items we ordered were perfectly cooked. We asked for some substitutions that weren't normal and they didn't bat an eye. Substitutions were perfect too! The owner came to check in, like first of all, that's kind of rare in my experience of going to restaurants. The server was kind and attentive. AND the food was delicious. There was a definite overabundance of frozen veg mix (mixed carrots, corn, string beans, etc.) used in addition to the bell peppers, like they were just trying to bulk up the batch. Actually, green beans are about the only "whole" vegetable I'm seeing in online recipes. The excessive amount of frozen veg kind of blunted whatever flavors the curry had. Pad Thai with ketchup, no hint of tamarind, green curry with no eggplant like described. Very little eggplant in the Eggplant basil. All the ingredients were done well, but clearly not a hot Wok fry. All the proteins were over cooked and dry. The fresh spring rolls were ok. It's Humboldt so I feel sorry for the owners that have to soften the flavors for the untraveled. My Husband and I went to check out this restaurant because it said it was under new management. When we walked in the door we were greeted by a host and immediately seated. The place was clean and had nice decor. We had Jasmine tea that was piping hot. Our meal was the vegetarian spring rolls which were delicious! The dipping sauce was spicy and different from the usual sweet sauce. I really enjoyed it. My husband kept the remainder and mixed it with some of his rice. He ordered the vegi yellow curry with tofu. He finished it completely! I had the traditional pad Thai noodles with shrimp. It was delicious! The shrimp were numerous and fresh. I had to bring half home the serving was so substantial . I also ordered the green papaya salad. I had asked for medium spicy . It had a very nice presentation and to my surprise the chef came out with it to see if I liked it. There had been 2 choices, one with a stronger fish sauce. I had opted for the mild one. The papaya was crunchy and fresh. It honestly was too hot for my tastebuds. So I told the chef it was delicious, but I couldn't really enjoy it because I had ordered it too hot on accident. She said no problem and made another salad that had milder chile, and it was delicious as well. We had to wait a few minutes for our bill as several families were being seated when we were ready to leave. I had leftovers packed up that I will enjoy today!. I would give this restaurant 5 . Sweet and sour chicken - deep fried chicken breast in a sweet and sour sauce with some veggies like zucchini, pepper, onion and pineapple. This dish I would skip. Indian me gonerg noodles - not sure why they call it this since it had no curry flavor or anything. It was like chow mien with eggs and lots of crushed peanuts on top. It was ok if you enjoy noodles. Went tonight. I had the beef rendang it was all fat and tendons no meat. 4 bites into a napkin. Really not good.. The sauce was gritty like sand. The thai iced tea tasted like kimchi. Maybe the fridge needs a clean out. Nasilemak chicken curry coconut rice peanuts. Chicken seemed on the verge also tendon-y. The table that we sat at was very wobbly and the table top was gummy sticky. Disappointed. The waiter was very nice. I have never gotten a check right after the food was delivered but neither of us were going to eat or drink anything more go we got the check and left. Not going back. No thank you. Not delicious.
