We ordered the Chinese Style Lamb Stew, Cheese Corn, Kung Pao Vegetables, and it came with a side of banchan. Every single dish here was absolutely delicious and piping hot! We ended up ordering a second plate of banchan because it was so good. The daikon radish had the most satisfying crunch and the others- cabbage and bean sprouts were very well pickled too! Cheese corn was sweet and honestly a good pairing with the very soury/ pickled soup. The kung pao vegetables would have definitely fooled me if I wasn't told it was mushroom. The pan fried chicken dumplings were from Costco, the spicy beef ramen left much to be desired and had an extremely dry egg. My friend and I came on a Thursday evening. I've been craving Korean BBQ and was excited to try to bugolgi. We were seated immediately. The interior was very clean and tidy looking. We ordered the bugolgi, which came with a little dish of three kinds of banchan, and the ginger dolsot. The banchan included pickled cucumber, cabbage, and radish - not the traditional banchan spread I would expect at other Korean restaurants, but they tasted good. The bugolgi was decent - it was slightly dry and not as flavorful as expected, but still fulfilled my craving. I liked that the ginger dolsot had large pieces of shrimp and had ample protein. 3 1/2 stars It was just OK. I go in, it's just your standard asian restaurant vibe on the inside. They have lunch specials, but they are only Monday through Friday. I was there on a Saturday, so I ordered off the regular menu. The cumin beef sounded interesting. Beef slices with onion, garlic, and cumin. That's what was listed on the menu. I asked the waiter if it was overly spicy because of the cumin, and he said, "no." it came with a cup of beef bone broth, that was very.delicious. It was rich, but not overly so. The cumin beef was just OK. The beef was very tender, and it did have a good flavor. You could taste the cumin. There were two problems with it. First of all, it was a little bit greasy. When I was done eating, you could see the oil left behind on the plate. The other thing, and this is a big one, is that even though they weren't listed on the menu there were red chili peppers in the dish. If somebody ordered this who was allergic, that could be a problem.... Plus, the chili peppers were over sautéed. If I accidentally put one in my mouth, I could taste the bitterness. The rice was well done, and it did help cut the spiciness a tiny bit, but not much. Because of the chili peppers, it was a bit spicy. It was right up to the edge of where I like spicy. My forehead was sweating. In some cases, if the flavor is good, I don't mind. But in this case, it was too much. Just an extremely OK meal. If an ingredient is not listed on the menu, it should not be in the Dish that is brought to you.... Lunch was OK, but I don't think I'll be back. Thanks anyway. read more

Wow. I have been 3x since I realized they offer hot pot. So delicious, great amount of food for the money, lots of left overs. Tip: try the special broth. And make sure to get sesame paste! Upon glancing at the menu I had my doubts, only because I couldn't tell if this was Chinese food, Korean food, or what. I since realized that they call it "fusion" so that makes sense. The best thing at this restaurant is the crispy eggplant. Unfortunately, I decided to try something different: menu #S7 Korean Style Seafood Tofu Clay Pot. The description says " shrimp, squid, clam, tofu and veggies in light sauce." However, the actual dish had fake crab sticks, fish, and tofu in a spicy, almost creamy sauce. If any shrimp, squid, of clams were hiding out, they were puréed into the sauce--which was not a "light" one by any means. I don't know why this was considered the same thing as what was described, but if substitutions are so randomly made without forewarning, I definitely won't be ordering an item with more than 1-2 ingredients if I have reason to eat here in the future. I've been here twice. Both as an individual & with a medium group. Food is good, but service is lacking, unfortunately. Service- servers are nice, but it takes a while to be given menus, waters, or utensils. Check-ins are scarce, even when they are helping the table directly beside you (idea to cluster care? It takes minimal time to do a quick check-in on your table). We weren't asked about refills, it was just done. Not a big problem, but again, the check-in would've been appreciated for the courtesy. We were told that a bigger party took priority, which can understood, but that shouldn't be said out loud. It leaves customers feeling de-prioritized, which was felt in the subpar service. Food is good, but things we ordered were forgotten, and/or came out at various times (again, partly service/partly kitchen). If there were more staff/servers, might rate higher. This used to be my favorite restaurant until I was served a dirty spoon covered with rice, followed by a bowl that also hadn't been properly cleaned. While the lady server is always wonderful, the young male server is the opposite. His lack of attention to detail is very disappointing, and it feels like he's not suited for this role. The restaurant really needs to consider replacing him. The food is still above average, but the combination of unclean utensils and poor service is enough reason for me to stop coming here. This was the first time trying this restaurant. As an Asian style restaurant, I assumed it would be average to all the rest. However, to my surprise, the food was above average and the service was outstanding! The building is also very clean! We had crab cheese puffs (they were a little fishy, but good), pot stickers, orange ginger chicken, Korean pork belly and vegetable fried rice. The food was perfectly cooked and well portioned. This place has so much potential especially for date nights but they seem to just not know good food. Went back recently and was disappointed. The menu has changed and it seems they added a bunch of Chinese dim sum and removed some of the things I originally enjoyed. Removing some stuff is the least of their problems. The beef bun was edible but we weren't into the other stuff ordered. I'm pretty sure the dim sum is not made in house and is just heated up too. I could be wrong but that's how it tasted. The food wasn't as fresh tasting this time. The meat specifically seemed old chewy and hard to eat. I had both chicken and beef that just wasn't good. The rice cake too is really sad here. They for some reason cut up the rice cake into thin pieces and it's not like enjoyable to eat. I love the chewiness of a good rice cake and it doesn't have that sensation. The staff is friendly but they really need help with the menu and recipes. I'll give 2 starts because the restaurant seems very clean and has decent ambience but the food really deserves no stars at this time. I recommend this place to everyone who's looking for a delicious meal! They have an amazing dim sum menu, we always get the chili oil wontons and they're amazing. One of my other go-to's is the chow mien, great flavor, always consistent. I usually go for chicken or beef but they're all great. The orange chicken is some of the best I've had, excellent. The real show stopper, my favorite that I've only tried recently, is the bulgogi. It's so tender! If you want a sweet treat, I get sesame balls everywhere I go and theirs are amazing! I've been with lots of different people who in combination have tried over half of the menu and they have all enjoyed their food every time. I've never had a bad experience here, always the opposite. The restaurant itself has a nice design and is very clean. It's great for big family events. I've been here with different groups of 2, 3, 4, and 6 and it's always amazing! Let me start by saying I am half Korean. My husband and I come up for business in Eureka once a month, and struggle finding any good Asian food in the area. When we saw this restaurant was new and featured both Korean and Chinese food, we decided to give it a try, though expectations were low looking at other reviews and pictures of the food. Yet, we are daredevils and decided to give it a go for a lunch outing. Upon entering the place wasn't very Asian looking on the inside. Not sure what to call it, kind of a modern American diner feel, but not in a posh way or anything like that. Pretty basic and neutral. That's fine as a lot of dive looking places can crank out some of the best food you've ever had. We were greeted and seated immediately by the waitress and our drink orders taken. It didn't take long to get our drinks. After waiting a good 15 minutes, she was the only waitress, so understandable we noticed there was a QR code on the table to scan and place your order. Just as I submitted the order the waitress came over and apologized for the wait. Again understandable as there were 4 occupied tables and only the one waitress and she was busy re-filling drinks and bringing food out to people who were there before us. After 5 minutes of ordering she came out with what she called bon chon. I say it like this because in no way was the bon chon, true bon chon. If you want kimchi you have to pay $5.99 to get any. What we did get was some cold chinese steamed cabbage thing. It was actually pretty tasty, but again, not bon chon. Then there was the kungnamul (bean sprouts), obviously they couldn't source actual korean bean sprouts with the yellow heads, and that's understandable but the flavor was very bland. The third item was supposed to be kkakdugi, korean spicy cubed radish. It was so dry, and again lacked any real flavor or spice. If you eat at korean restaurants you know that you can base how good they are going to be by the quality of the bon chon. It was apparent at this moment that it was a good decision not to pay for the kimchi. I also order the pan fried mandu, dumplings, this came out about another 5 minutes after the bon chon. The filling was a weird bordering mushy texture with absolutely no seasoning whatsoever. Even dipping them in the soy sauce couldn't help them. My husband who will literally eat anything even if it's bad couldn't stomach a second one. Major disappointment, as the cooks appear to be Chinese, and dumplings/potstickers is a staple in Asian cuisine. Hard to mess it up, yet they managed to. We then got our bowls of rice, which should come out with the bon chon, and the crispy eggplant we ordered after seeing other reviewers saying it was good. It came out room temperature and wasn't all that crispy. It tasted heavily of fish sauce and ginger. My husband and I downed our drinks while eating it, we didn't want to waste the food and it was edible in a mediocre way. Finally the galbi came out. Galbi is one of those korean dishes that even non korean people can make and it comes out tasty. I thought for sure it would be the safest bet on getting something delicious to eat. It was salty. It was very chewy. Some parts inedible due to hard pieces of cartilage. Galbi is traditionally marinated in soy sauce water brown sugar and an onion and pear puree with garlic as well. It's supposed to be sweet and savory, like a korean teriyaki sauce, but less sweet than teriyaki but you still have sweetness. This had zero sweetness and tasted as if they just dunked them in soy sauce and garlic and called it a day. With tax and tip we paid $65 total for dumplings, crispy eggplant, and galbi, and one drink, as one of us only got water. In summary, I am sure the Chinese dishes likely tasted better, though the eggplant was a miss, but the Korean side not so much. I really didn't understand why the soups all come with American cheese, that is not the best way to try and do fusion food. It's understandable in buddae jjigae but not for kimchi jjigae or soondubu jjigae and certainly not in bibimbap either. Please, if you want to eat here, do not base Korean food by what they serve. Unfortunately if you live in Eureka you have to drive 4 hours south or however long it takes to drive to Sacramento to get any kind of decent Korean food. Or Chinese food for that matter. read more

New place, asian-owned and asian fusion of Korean and Chinese. Adds diversity to Humboldt County, known for its racist anti-asian history (see Chinese Expulsion of 1885). I have ordered here three times now. The Bachan could be improved and diversified. The lunch specials are definitely giving Chinese food from the mall in flavor and presentation. If you're on a budget, and you like that kind of thing, go for it. The bulgogi was a little over-cooked when I had it, but it did not stop me from eating it all as it was tasty just the same. The space/building is open and comfortable enough to stay in and enjoy. I would recommend dining in over ordering to-go; you enjoy things like roasted tea and Bachan on the house. The japchae lacked the signature chewy texture, the dumplings were sort of rubbery, and nothing was particularly flavorful except a a strong flavor of soy sauce.
