We've been looking for a good "hole in the wall" style Chinese place here in Akron. Chin's place was just what we were looking for. Whenever we go to a new restaurant we order a lot more food than we normally would eat so we get a sample of a lot of different things. Appetizers: Egg Rolls - Your standard egg roll, not great, not bad Teriyaki Sticks - Beef I believe, was absolutely delicious Pan Fried Dumplings - VERY good, a little doughy but it was delicious and well made and the sauce was delicious Wonton Soup - EXCELLENT flavor, not oily like some places can be Dishes: Lo Mein - very solid and made with a soy based sauce. Everything had excellent flavor but not overpowering. Sweet and Sour Chicken - I know this isn't something a lot of people looking for "good" Chinese food would get but I enjoy it and it's easy to compare at places because everyone has it. Their sauce wasn't the typical "red goop" that I see at a lot of places. The sauce was very good and had a good bit of sour to it, some places just focus on the sweet part. Excellent service as well. Excellent quality food that is fresh and remarkably local (mere feet away) but yet remains cheap. The interior decoration is as dumpy as the food is good. Definitely a must-stop if you're craving Chinese. read more

Best Chinese food I've had in Akron hands down. Very high quality, sauce is made in house from my understanding (not from a bottle). The Mongolian beef and sesame chicken are my favourite... yeah those aren't the most "authentic" dishes they serve, but still taste awesome. read more

We have been coming to Chin's for quite some time. The first time, I had a bad cold and my husband brought home their hot and sour soup. WONDERFUL! we continued to get carryout but the food became hit-and-miss in various ways, no spice, overcooked, etc. The last straw was when we got food tonight. The Cantonese chicken was chicken, alright - hardly any vegetables! My husband's Kun Pao Beef was not in the least bit spicy and almost no peanuts. There are several Chinese restaurants in the downtown Akron area to grab lunch but I would only recommend this place. It is americanized Chinese but is good. Staff is friendly and they understand what you are saying without having to point out a number in the menu. I recommend the Lomein. read more

I've had many of the area's Chinese take out. This definitely ranks towards the top. Ordered the General Tso's Chicken and was greeted by lots of fresh veggies stir fried into the chicken and sauce. Very tasty sauce that is not your run-of-the-mill General Tsos sugary mess. The fried rice is good too... none of the yellow junk like some places have. Food was average. I ordered fried rice and was disappointed. Also, I'm now a little sick after eating it. So beware.

You can taste how fresh everything is. The sautéed green beans are flavorful and crunchy. The portions are generous. The deliciousness and the portions combined give me a guaranteed belly ache because it's so good and they give you so much I never want to stop eating it. Wonderful service and food! You can tell the wontons and sauces are prepared in house. The beef lo mien was tender and delicious. We have eaten here numerous times. The service is always super friendly and the prices are low. The dishes are made to order and we have loved everything we have tried. We are both vegetarian and there is a large selection of dishes for us to choose from including many tofu dishes as well as just veggie ones, spicy and non-spicy. Our meat eating friends are always pleased with their meals too. I recommend Chin's Place to everyone and it's our favorite local place to take out of town guests to. read more

I have to say the reason why I ordered here in the first place is because of all the yelpers giving 5 stars and good rating. I must say I was highly fooled. My husband and I ordered... House lo mien, which tasted not too bad. Peppered steak, that was way to watery and almost pork white colored and steamed dumplings that was way, way too thick. Our order cost us $36 with tip. It's took them 1 hour to deliver to us... The only reason why I gave them a 2 star rating was because the lo mien was edible. Yelpers don't be fooled the food is not all that great. read more

Found this little place by chance...I'm not from the area and happened to be out here for a meeting. Great little place! Friendly people. I've been here twice and plan to make it my once a month dining place (have to bring my daughter out this way one Tuesday a month). The waitress...I think Jess is her name is always friendly and always has good recommendations for a meal. Chins was a late in my AKRON life find. When I started telling others about it they just say "you haven't been there until now?" Mind you, I have lived in the area for over 30 years and passed the location hundreds of times. Anyhow I stopped with a friend about a year ago, they were fairly busy with several tables s and a bunch of takeouts. We were greeted by the owner who was super pleasant, came and sat to talk with my friend and I and even showed us the garden in the back. And the food on that visit was absolutely the best ever, hands down! Well after many visits since that day we have come to realize that first day was not the norm. The food has since had good days and not so good but generally better than other Chinese restaurants and still the go-to former for Chinese food. However, yesterday was the absolute worst I've ever had there and among the worst service anywhere especially coming directly from the owner. Same friend and I ordered our typical, approximately $50 in food. As is typical here but nowhere else the owner asked how many of each sauce we wanted and threw it in the bag and then asked how many fortune cookies. We said 4 or 5, and we were stunned when we were asked if we were having a fortune cookie party. Mind you we bought 3 entrees plus apps, and one of the entrees wasn't even full, over a 2 cent Cookie. At this point I LLC be taking my $50 orders elsewhere and she can have a fortune cookie party minus the $50. read more

The place has very light and very different kind of Chinese which you would usually get to eat. Probably it is very authentic. The vegetables in the dishes taste very fresh. One of my most favorites. It's a small little place which is not one of those fancy kinds . But the food here is quite interesting and tasty! I hope that they are open all days including Sundays. read more

Delicious and fresh American Cantonese food. We had read the Yelp reviews and decided to give this place a try while visiting our recently transplanted daughter and husband here in Akron back in August. The food was delicious so we made it a point to order again on our next trip in December and were not disappointed. The food was better than in our hometown in California, no joke. Pepper steak, shrimp in black bean sauce, tofu vegetable soup, Cantonese chicken chow mein and mixed vegetables were all excellent and not over cooked. We've been going for about 20 years and Chin's remains a favorite. Lots of carryout business but we like to eat in. Small, pleasant, wide variety, always fresh ingredients cooked to order.
