With this being the closest Chipotle to where I was located for work, despite the ratings/reviews, I 'chose' to eat here 3 times in a month's period. All 3 times were terrible. I've ordered a burrito each time (2 chicken and 1 brisket). All 3 times, I got more cheese and sour cream than any overweight being could ask for. To the point where I had clumps of shredded cheese and sour cream lodged into isolated pockets of my burrito. The kids that work there looked like they didn't want to be there. The counter where they prep food was consistently covered with sauce or stray meat/beans/veggies. There was no sense of urgency to clear the line that was backing up and there was one time where an off-duty employee was horse-playing and made a mess near the soda machine area. I don't really have expectations for fast food chains, but I expect more from a Chipotle... I know it's difficult to find good help nowadays, but something needs to change with this location. read more

Typically this is one of my "go to" chain restaurants. Though the place was crowded and the line was long, the staff did a great job moving us through. The food was less than desirable which is the most important component of Yelp. I ordered a bowl with chicken, dark rice, salsa, black beans and lettuce. The woman behind the counter was super fast putting it together but the quantity of each item was below average. To drink I ordered the sweet tea. Suffice it to say I've had countless better tea's than this one. What should've been a good combination of taste was rather bland and uninspiring. This Chipotle has definitely seen some solid improvements in recent weeks/months. Possibly thanks to effective management or more training. The food prep area was pretty clean and organized, and the employees were all very friendly and checkout was quick. Food quality was very good and their NC Health score is an A, which I always check. I arrived at 6pm on a Monday. Ordered kids quesadilla, then chips and guacamole and they waited til the end to say they were out of guacamole, the main reason I went. I suggested maybe they make a sign or tell people at the beginning of the line and she did not respond. They were out of Coke, fountain lemonade, and napkins as well. When I got to my hotel, I realized the corn salsa I got on the side was frozen and had to be cooked in the microwave to make it edible. After a walk through the Renaissance park (check it out, it's reallr peaceful) I found myself here. I figured I could walk in and order, but alas they are online or app only. I had points to redeem so I used it for my queso and I did not receive it in my bowl or as a side. When I went to the app for support it gave me back my points for the queso but it has an expiration date. No one is able to help it and im upset. My points shouldn't have an expiration date. Quick order restaurants have been few and far between in the part of Charlotte known as the "Colosseum" neighborhood even though the Colosseum was demolished ten years back. This little retail plaza fronts an apartment/condo complex that shares the space with some hotel properties. It is quite a small parking lot which was completely full when I stopped by on Monday at lunchtime. This Chipotle doesn't have a drivethrough but they have reserved a couple of parking spaces for "Burritos-To-Go" if you've placed your order on their app. I'd strongly recommend that if you are here at peak times. Inside, very busy with most seats taken and a queue of about a dozen to place orders for burritos, bowls, tacos and salads. I got myself a chicken burrito with black beans, hot salsa, corn salsa and guacamole (upcharge for guac). 7pm during business hours, both front and side doors were locked.... Clearly and visibly locked between the door seam, yet neither staff nor management expressed any care to help or explain.... One employee motioned to me and another customer to pull the door harder, which we did... Eventually the door did pull opened, not sure if we broke the door, clearly the door lock hatch was up in the lock position.... The door was evidently locked.... They could have and should have just came and unlocked it. Mind you, "I turned the lock and unlocked it for them", putting the hatch in the off position, while walking in.... This place shouldn't even get a 1 star rating. I have been to this place multiple when I lived around this area and they always had fresh food. This is the first time I have been back in 4 months they were out of cheese chicken and both rice. The line was also out the door and moving at a snails pace workers cussing and throwing food around they were also very rude to almost all customers. After taking the food home the steak tasted cooked through and was like eating charcoal. Good food but severely understaffed! I feel for the workers, especially during a lunch rush like the one today. The ordering line was wrapped all the way to the restrooms and they were still battling a surge of online pickup orders in the process. There were a mix of about 4 or 5 workers rotating between the serving line and prepping ingredients in the back, everyone was flying around like a chicken with their heads chopped off. Even the manager was on the line stuffing burritos, clearly flustered. The order pickup line was backed up to the door, the ice machine was completely out of ice, and the trash cans were overflowing. There have been instances where this location would be servicing online orders only due to short staffing, or simply be closed altogether in the middle of the day. There is always a 'Now Hiring' sign posted so I'm sure the turnover rate is atrocious. She did this while her coworkers stood and watched her with vacant expressions, making zero effort to give her any advice or constructive criticism. Why do so many cops hang around here? Have stopped a couple times for dinner while in town on business, and each time there have been a large number of police vehicles parked out front and boys in blue getting their burrito on inside. The staff here were slow on my few visits, and one talked me out of ordering a margarita -- when I asked her about it, she said "Oh, don't worry about it, you don't want to order one of those." She tried to make it sound like the process to get one would involve a long wait, a background check, and waiting for a seat in the restaurant (which was empty except for the cops). On top of incorrect orders, the management doesn't seem to care at all. I understand COVID has had an impact on this industry, but the service at this particular Chipotle was terrible long before COVID. I am stuck dealing with this Chipotle because the app defaults to the closest Chipotle when ordering delivery. If you have the choice just go to the Chipotle on S. Tryon.
