Saw this place as we were out driving around and decided to give them a try. Was a little before 8 pm. Only a few people in line at the time. Staff were helpful when ordering. I ordered the Cheat's OG with added lettuce (10/10) it was cheesy, fresh, and flavorful! Was only a few bites in and I was already saying how I should've ordered two. I also tried the Honey Sriracha Cheat's wings (8.5/10) they were cooked well and tasted good, but they seemed like only honey wings ?? No spice at all, which was a little disappointing. To drink, I got a Cheerwine soda; it was pretty good. Food took about 25 mins to be made after we ordered. They have seating on the side of the building where you can watch the staff making the food which was cool. I def will be returning again, the food was too good not to! I just ordered there in person today and waited over 20 minutes (while person after person who had ordered online picked up at the window) before my cheesesteak was finally ready. It's a bit of a pet peeve of mine when a restaurant doesn't prioritize the people who are there ordering in person, but that seems to be the norm these days at most places. 7/14 This was our first time here and we weren't disappointed. Parking is easy and they have a few tables and bar seating. There's a special on Monday's for Half Priced Large Chicken Cheesesteaks. We order that and a large seasoned French fries (they use beef tallow in fryers) and a side of cheese whiz. We got it with American cheese and added mayo & banana peppers. We sat at one of their covered tables and one of the employees even brought it out to us. Everything came out super fresh and flavorful. I'm usually not a fan of chucked chicken in my cheesesteaks so I was even surprised by how much I enjoyed this! The meal was delicious and the large was definitely enough to split. I'm on a keto diet so this isn't going to be the perfect experience of a proper Philly-style cheesesteak. That said, if you're looking for high protein and low carbs, my lunch would work for you. If you prefer it on on a roll, they do that in spades. I opted for the "large" version of the classic cheesesteak on the bed of lettuce. It didn't take long and I was able to dig in. Presented nicely - a good mix of thin ribeye steak mixed "wit wiz" and grilled onions. Plenty of it and I cleared the bowl. Absolutely delicious combination of beef and cheese and soft onions. The flavors just gel. Good service and a clean restaurant. They do not have a dining room - a few tables outside, some have umbrellas and some do not. Oh, and for the vegetarians who walk amongst us and don't eat meat? They do it with "Beyond Meat" and vegan cheese. You have no complaints here! read more

Being native to PHL this is the closest you'll get to a real cheesesteak in CLT. Cheats is delicious! They use ribeye and cooper sharp so clearly they know a thing or two about cheesesteaks. The fries and wings were both incredible. The fries were seasoned well and the wings I ordered extra crispy with sauce to dip them in on the side. Without a doubt, I will be returning next time I'm in CLT. They do have a few spots you can sit outside on a nice day or in your car but I ordered to go and felt like it was still very fresh by the time l started eating it. Lastly, the service was excellent. Cheat's slapped when it was a pop up!! I've tired both b/m locations and they're subpar at best. The taste is still decent but size is much smaller and quality is downhill at a high price tag. We ordered ourselves on a tablet at the south end location and after a 20 min wait we got our food. Got a large truffle cheesesteak, small original cheesesteak and a fry. Cheesesteak bread was so soggy the sandwich fell apart. No chew on the bread. Couldn't hold up to the ingredients. Peppers had a good heat. Fries were room temp and tasteless. I was excited to see they use beef tallow but they weren't good. Disappointed to say the least. Love the location and idea but think they're doing too much. The menu is large now. read more

Last night, my wife and I tried Cheat's Cheesesteaks for the first time, and overall, it was a great experience! However, I wasn't impressed with the ketchup--it was an off-brand packet that lacked flavor. The sandwich was spicy but not overpowering. Truly delicious and flavorful. The seasoned fries were crispy and, well, very good! This is counter service a - you either order at the window or online. I suggest online because we ordered at the window and it took a bit longer than we expected - not bad but if you're in a hurry it could be a problem. It had that spongy tough texture when you leave fresh bread out for a day. The cooper sharp cheese and steak was good but for a cheesesteak over $20, you need to stay consistent. so I was in town most of the afternoon and needed nourishments before heading out to the airport and didn't know there was a location in the south end where I already was... so it took about 18 minutes to get here and park in the "wrong" lot because I didn't know there was a "the other side" until I went there to order and saw it was completely empty. really learning a lot on this trip... like the season of the fries is weird and I'm not sure if I don't like it or not. and the brisket cheesesteak adds a saucy little sauce and peppers and stuff along with the meat upgrade so I don't have a basis on which to rate the fancier sammich and now I have to make another trip down for a "regular" so I'm starting in the middle. I'm pretty sure it's pretty good but not sure for sure- yes, it's kind of a good problem to have, but it is a problem none the less and apparently there's a hot italian beef sandwich that my or may not take me home - when I know about that I'll let you know. so I was out to the new overlook (which I'm also not sure I like but that's a different review) watching the planes come and go while trying to not make a mess of myself or the car and it turns out not to be much of a problem as long as I have napkins for the juices (and they gave me plenty! so good on them for knowing their product!) thin sliced brisket is easy to eat, very thin, very tender, very moist but that could be the saucing which is fine by me. the onions add a little savor and texture and the japs haven't quite got the heat pickled out so yeah, try to remember that... boy howdy!! fries are a good size and cooked properly but the seasoning seems a bit rough and bitey like this winter rather than a tender warmth of indian summer. coffee was probably a poor beverage choice but it's what I had with me besides the canned margaritas so that's another lesson for today ;-) read more

So I have ordered from here a few times but it has been well over a year. I heard they added seeded rolls and copper sharp cheese so I was intrigued. I wasted my time. I ordered a small which is half the size of a normal sandwich for the price of a full sandwich. They also had the audacity to charge me .50 cent each for banana peppers and pickles only to replace my meat with it. I have seen this in other establishments. Just because I asked for pickles, peppers and onions doesn't mean I want a veggie sandwich! SO you charged me $1.00 to take the meat out of my sandwich! In addition the seeded rolls was airy and not tasty at all and I don't believe they actually are using copper sharp, besides my onions and pickles I tasted nothing. How would you not taste cooper sharp? Cheats you will never get my money again, hope you are happy. You are currently getting cooked on Reddit/Charlotte and frankly you deserve it. I came here on a Saturday afternoon for what else but a cheesesteak. As usual, Yelp is my compass when fulfilling cravings, and this time, it did not lead me wrong. I ordered the pepper steak with mushrooms, banana peppers, mayo and fries. Within 5 minutes, the order was ready, and I set it up at a picnic table to enjoy it. The fries were well seasoned but not hot and crispy, the way I prefer. As a result, I didn't partake; I went instead for the cheesesteak, which did not disappoint. I will say I'm normally a provolone girl, but I have had Wiz on a cheesesteak before and am always willing to branch out. This cheesesteak was incredible. The steak was tender and juicy, the veggies perfectly cooked, and the wiz was the perfect compliment. The bread was absolutely delicious--crusty, chewy, light and allowing the ingredients to unfold perfectly.
