Chipotle is by far my favorite fast food restaurant. I have been to probably 20 and this place is a disgrace to the chipotle franchise. I don't know why I continue to come back to this shithole after being let down time and time again. No matter what time you go here don't expect them to have all the ingredients. They are usually missing one or two and I've even seen it been a majority missing before. They are also the slowest workers ever and always understaffed. I'm sure my pet rabbit could manage this restaurant better than the box of rocks who calls himself the manager. I'm so fed up with this place and forever done. The worst service ever! Ordered on line, picked a time for pick up. Went into the store and order wasn't ready. Not only that, one employee walked past me several times and never said a word. Finally asked how behind they were. Over 45 min behind at a fast food take out!!! Why doesn't the website say that or even the email. If I had known, I wouldn't have ordered!! When I asked for my money back or change to delivery, I was told no. I can't believe in this day and age, when technology is everywhere! The restaurant can't or won't refund money. I was told by the manager that if I used the customer service, they might offer you more. Why would I want more, when I couldn't even get one meal!! The customer service really needs to be worked on. If I could give this Chipotle negative stars, I would. My husband and I love Chipotle but this particular restaurant is the worst. We've given it the benefit of the doubt 4 times but this past visit was the last straw, we will not be returning. The restaurant is always dirty, tables are never cleaned, soda machines don't work, they haven't had chips the last 3 times we've been there and this last time, we were there 30 minutes before closing and near the front in a long line of people and when we got to the counter they had no fajita veggies, no pico salsa, no lettuce and no chips. That's just the items we wanted that they were out of so who knows what else they were out of. The kitchen was shut down when we got in line over 30 minutes before closing so they weren't prepping any food for the 20 people left in line. Welcome to the Duluth Chipotle, AKA "The Trough". My girlfriend and I were trying to fill our sad bellies, and decided to check out the new Chipotle. I have had Chipotle in the past, and was exited to return, she had never been there. Immediately, we were meet with a long line and had to stand in the entry way. It was an inconvenience, but we decided to wait it out for the food! Once we were finally indoors, we were in a shorter line of maybe 12 or so, and directly to our left, on raised tables and chairs, were people and their kids eating their food. "Is that the carnitas on your burrito sir?" Looking around at the construction of this place reveals not a lot of time was put into it, plywood walls and cheap benches, topped off with an awesome, unfinished, concrete floor? My girlfriend was standing in a water puddle that persisted through the entire line. I am not sure who the brains behind the design on this place were, but they outdid themselves. More on this later..... Service was good, though a little rambunctious. Seemed like the workers were in rush mode, but kind of expected at this location. We both got a burrito, and one Izzy sparkling juice for the lady....$21.60! What!? For rice and beans? Looking at the receipt showed the added $4 for both of our guacamole splurge. Last time I checked a single avocado at the store (Wal-Mart) cost $1.18 TOPS. I have a hard time believing a company like Chipotle cannot afford wholesale avocados, or premade guacamole, at a better price point. Actually, I bet they do, but just look at guacamole as a way to increase profits. Shame shame....we know your name!!! So now we are onto the sour cream....... I was in line for a while, so I was paying attention to how the employees would make the burrito. I noticed the "Sour Cream Fairy" was pretty happy being able to supply a GENEROUS amount of sour cream goodness to her waiting patrons, so I decided I would hold off on that. My girlfriend wasn't so lucky, a soup ladle of cream covered every bite of her entire rice and bean goodness, Taco Bell would be proud. After picking up our burritos, AKA "lil chibbies", we proceeded to find a spot to sit. Or should I say, sit in the last of maybe twenty chairs, with another couple, at a strange 12 person cafeteria inspired design. Seriously, who designed this place? Am I on Candid Camera? Is this real life? Did I just pay almost $22 dollars for these lil chubbies? Seriously, the girth of this burrito was fine, but where's the length?! We finished my burrito and half of the "sour cream wonder burrito" and left for the exit................ Which.... surprise........wasn't an exit, it was out to the patio. So now we are in a cage on the sidewalk, and we have people poking at us like we were zoo exhibits, and throwing us crackers and bread screaming, "Dance! Dance for us you animals!". In all seriousness, I'll never go back. I can deal with the design and other issues if the food was worth it, but bottom line is the food is very cheap (rice and beans), yet for some reason very expensive. Makes no sense in a place that is designed so CHEAP. There is a burrito place in Duluth called Burrito Union. The burritos are bigger, with better ingredients and options. I could have enjoyed a beer (from the Brewhouse) with my burrito at the same price there. If you don't want to make the trip downtown, just about any fast food is a better value, opt for subway over this overpriced, greedy corporation. read more

If I could leave 0 stars, I would. This was the slowest service I have ever experienced, all while the employees were inefficient and unapologetic. They take a mobile order in between each customer, leaving the line out the door. Be prepared to wait 45 minutes in line, so I would recommend mobile ordering. read more

Food was typical Chipotle fare. Again I wonder how this site continues to be part of a franchise. Today it was snowing with ice, the door could barely open. No one shovels. It appears the floor is never swept. We wonder if the restrooms are ever cleaned. No one wipes down the tables or the island bars. Come on-get with the program! read more

I too like Chipotle... Anywhere else. The enormous line is ENTIRELY because of employee incompetence and poor design. 90% of stores have a waiting area inside that snakes around for when there are lines. This one has about 15 feet from the door straight to the counter. The usual "line area" is taken up by bar seating. This is Northern Minnesota. At some point it will be cold and people won't be willing to stand around in -30 degrees for a poorly made burrito. Poorly made? Yes. Once in the 15 feet of waiting space (after 35 minutes outside) I watched two separate employees break and have to remake four burritos. There were only about 8 people in front of me so they were redoing 1/2 of the orders. The other people were mostly appearing busy but one guy stood around, counted the people in line and stirred the meat on the line for 20 minutes. It might be worth Chipotle's while to ditch the barstools, make a real line and put some seasoned workers from the cities up at a hotel for a few weeks to get this madness sorted out. Gross! I have frequently visited chipotle restaurants across the country. Most of them coming from California. This location was the dirtiest I've ever seen. My husband and I got there around dinner time, and all of the tables looked like they haven't been wiped down all day. The staff in the back are in no hurry what so ever. They are taking their time, but in the mean time, up front was completely out of 3 different types of meat, rice, and pico. The taste of the food is not as good as all of the locations in California I have experienced. Nobody working there seemed like they enjoyed or appreciated their job. The place is filthy (trash and dust on the tables, flies everywhere) and the food was undercooked (my rice was crunchy!). The staff seemed to only care about processing online orders and not about taking the orders of people standing in line. I love Chipotle, but this location is horrible! S-L-O-W line, staff doesn't seem to communicate with each other or with the waiting customers. They always seem to be out of something. The last three times I went they were out of things and once I waited way to long to get onions and peppers. I always go hoping it will be better, but no luck. The very last time they charged me for my son's kids meal and I didn't notice until I got home that they shorted me a milk and fruit. I am making this Yelp review due to the fact that this Chipotle is unwell managed and employees are immensely rude. We made an order through the Chipotle app and we were waiting for door dash driver to pick our order up. After 1 hour and 45 minutes of waiting for our order we decided to call Chipotle. We spoke to a male manager who told us that his hands were tied and there was nothing that he could do about our order saying that the order was cancelled although we did not cancel our order. We preceded to call the door dash driver who was waiting for our food at Chipotle and with our order still not being made, our door dash driver sat and waited for up to 20 minutes. We then called Chipotle again wondering what we should do and the manager preceded to be rude and hung up on us. We feel that this Chipotle location needs to reevaluate the way they treat customers as well as have a better system of how to ensure customers are getting their order on time. It is unfortunate that this is the only Chipotle location within Duluth and we as many others should be aware of the lack of management and the lack of their services being customer friendly. Love this chipotle and never had to stand in line more than five minutes to make an order. But Today: I stood inline for (no joke) FIFTY minutes. Online orders were backed up and people were waiting inline all the way outside. They were not accommodating to people that were in line. They just kept ignoring us. People that came to get their online orders were just piling up. Now.. on to the service, they barley gave me any rice, beans or meat. Not a bowel that was worth paying for. I was literally eating sour cream and lettuce for my bowel. And then the guy that helped me put corn on my order when that wasn't what I asked for:.. very disappointed and I really wanted my money back, because I know that my bowel wasn't worth what I paid for. When we paid, she didn't ask if I want anything else like drinks or chips and swiped my card and moved along... there was no napkins or utensils available and I had to go up and ask for some. read more

I absolutely love Chipotle and this is one of the best ones I have been to! The employees are super friendly and cater to any of your specific needs. If they accidentally mess up an order they will be kind enough to make it again to make sure every customer is satisfied. I love that they finally have a Chipotle rewards program because I go there enough to get my use out of it! I think it is great that they offer rewards now to keep guaranteeing that more customers will continue to come back. I have never had a bad experience here and love the atmosphere and food! read more

I gave this chipotle three stars only because my usual experience was good and it's not their fault that they are always super busy. But one of the main reasons I gave 3 stars is because I asked for extra lettuce on my burrito bowl (as I always do at every other chipotle I go too) and the guy said to his coworker right in front of me "Extra lettuce? Might as well get a salad." And the coworker he was talking too just laughed and agreed with him. Now they weren't whispering to each other and I was clearly listening and looking right at them. I was just in disbelief that I didn't even say anything. How rude is that? I assume it's because most of these kids working are college kids and it's some of their first jobs, but it was just highly inappropriate and unprofessional. I wish I would have complained to the person that checked me out but I didn't. This happened more than a year ago but i still think about it when I'm in town and want chipotle. Hopefully those guys aren't working there anymore and won't judge you for wanting extra lettuce. read more

Let's start by saying this: I love Chipotle and frequent them whenever I travel. This chipotle has fine meats and rice and beans and tortillas and other ingredients that are not dependent on fresh ingredients. However, the first time I went, the guacamole was tinted brown from overripe/mildly rotting avocados. The pico de gallo was so pale that I didn't even bother. I thought maybe it was just winter putting a damper on their produce. However, I have been twice in spring as well. Pico still pale as could be. Who is their tomato source? And who thinks that is appetizing? Or flavorful? Not the greatest Chipotle by any means. But I still take Chipotle over any other fast food with their commitment to non-GMO and local foods. read more

I don't know why everyone is so salty about the service/food quality for this venue...I've visited this place quite a few times and I've never had a negative experience. Sometimes they(the burrito-makers..?) struggle with wrapping my burritos, but I usually load mine up with a lot of fixings anyway, so it's truly not their fault. I think people should stop asking for so much from a chain restaurant. The minuscule mistakes I've read from the other reviews obviously were written out of pure pettiness. It's all about perspective. If one of the female employees is friendly to their customers and fellow staff members, that doesn't necessarily mean they're flirting or promiscuous...just another obnoxious person trying to shame someone else for doing their job and having a smile on their face while doing it. I feel bad if anyone actually had a terrible experience at this Chipotle, but it's hard for me to believe such a thing could happen when I've always been satisfied. read more

We love Chipotle but this location is easily the slowest and dirtiest of any I've ever been in. We often choose Qdoba instead because the service is so much faster and friendlier. We waited in line over 30 min watching one person work the line while 5 did prep work. No sense of urgency among the employees when the line was out the door. This is the case time and time again. While I have eaten at this restaurant many times since it has opened, this experience was by far the worst. I get a very simple dish and have been told many times that it is a three star. Today when I asked the cashier if he rang it up that way, he said no, you have too many items in your dish. I explained that I've been told multiple times and he just said no. I have been to this Chipotle several times and each time my wait time gets longer. It has nothing to do with the fellow comrades in line with me but the genius idea that the frontline serving crew should inconvenience those foolish enough to waste their precious time in line...for those who don't want to put in those inconvenient 10 minutes in line and order over their phones. I was aghast when I was up, they halted my order to convenience the online ordering. I'm sorry I was such a problem. Of course, why don't I stand and wait (20 mn was too short) while you whip up those orders that just came in over online...it won't bother me at all...oh, and why don't you help the lady who came in walked in to pick up her online order and struggled at reading her bill...yeah a 5 more minutes won't bother me! We had the most magical time here. I'm a summer camp trip leader , we came to chipotle before going off into the Canadian wilderness for 4 weeks. And what a treat it was! They were so patient as we budgeted and even chatted with us about what happened recently on our favorite shows. They were patient, kind , friendly and warm. They opened late. We stood outside watching the workers eat. The lettuce was slimy and old. There was food all over the tables. One of the female servers was very crabby and rude. She took zero care when making our food. She grabbed food that fell off the plate and onto her work station picked it back up and tossed it in my food. If you like being treated poorly and feel like your eating out of your trash can.. Eat here. Iman's positive attitude was the only thing enjoyable about eating here. I heard the food is good here but after waiting in line for 10 minutes we had enough time to realize how FILTHY and loud this place is so we left and went to another restaurant. This is a very small fast food setting attached to the outside of the mall so it's inconvenient to get to and is very inconvenient to find a parking spot (at least on a weekend). The few available tables were littered with scraps of food and the floor was even worse. I might give it another try someday but not likely anytime soon. read more
