Why do I always convince myself it will be better the next time I go here? Maybe because I live in a remote area and this is the closest chipotle! But it is an absolute dump every time. The worst offense is always the quality of the food and the unsanitary state of everything. Who the heck is managing this place? I feel like the Duluth Chipotle needs to be reported to the Department of Health. The bathrooms look like they haven't been cleaned... maybe ever? Went here last night on our way home after a day in Duluth. when I got home to enjoy one of my delicious burritos, I took a big bite and was met with the sensation of chewing gravel with a little sand mixed in. So I tried to heat it up more, hoping the moisture in the burrito itself would finish the rice cooking, but alas, it didn't help at all. So then I decided to dig into my second one instead (was supposed to be tomorrows dinner), and that one too had uncooked rice. 4 burritos and a burrito bowl ordered, and all had uncooked rice that made it so you couldn't hardly eat it, let alone enjoy it after spending over $60.00 on just the burritos. read more

My husband and I are huge chipotle fans, but this location always disappoints- especially lately. We order online to pick up, and the last 3 times our orders have been made late. Last time I waited more than 15 minutes longer than pickup time. The chips at this location are not good- never salty or lime-y enough like other chipotle locations, and all 3 of our last visits they have been old and they don't let the grease drop off long enough or they're take or something- though and chewy and gross. We've had plenty of order frustrations, but I'll quickly describe our most recent visit- We got a small chip bag instead of large, and I paid for a large guac and it was ROTTEN bad avocados. Like tasted like sour permanent marker rotted chemicals. And it was all over my burrito bowl, too, ruining the whole thing. A little quality control on the avocados they use would go a long way. My husband and I both got carne asada, and they yelled that they needed more carne asada to the cooks, as they were making our food. When we got home to eat it, we each had like 4 pieces of carne asada. Clearly the bottom of the barrel and instead of making us wait even longer, they just have us the couple pieces they had left. So disappointing when we paid extra for the carne. My husbands burrito was literally pretty much just white rice- they barely put anything else in it and I should have taken a picture- it looked like a tortilla and rice. No flavor. He had to add stuff from our fridge. The whole meal was bad. And I REALLY want this location to be good- it's our only chipotle and we love chipotle! Just wish management would listen to these reviews and realize they should step it up like other locations when it comes to timeliness, food quality/quantity, and flavor (saltier/limier chips please!!). I never complain about food, but this was bad, and I called to talk to someone but the phone rang and rang. everytime I go in there's always a issue. 1. they can't take exact cash cause of a coin shortage 2. online orders only cause they didn't receive a truck shipment 3. online orders only cause they are short staffed 4. they don't have a certain product. I went there the other day and heard a worker say to another co worker "we are closing a hour and a half earlier, i dont care how fast you get orders done. I don't care about the customers". they also are not sanitary. I see workers put on gloves without washing there hands, then proceed to touch there hat, apron etc.. also the lobby is always dirty. usually have to clean the spot where I want to eat by myself. read more

Love this location! They are always busy but that's not a bad thing always. The most important thing is that they are fast and friendly. A lot of people get annoyed once they see a line but in reality, that's sometimes just means they get good business. Definitely will be returning! read more

It's pretty incredible how poorly run this location is. Yesterday, I tried to visit and the store was closed at 6:30. Today, I tried to visit again and it was online ordering only and I ended up waiting a ridiculous amount of time waiting inside the store for my food to be ready. They are always out of multiple ingredients, and never offer an apology or compensation when out of ingredients or closed. On top of that, it's always dirty inside. I used to eat chipotle 5/7 days a week if not more. then I moved here and the closest chipotle is over an hour away. so I have attempted to come twice. the first time they were out of corn ans chips and this time they were out of black beans and sour cream. keep in mind I get extra corn and extra sour cream on my food. those two things make my whole meal. The counter where they make your food was full of food so that turned me off right away. Then as we got our food and actually looked around the restaurant we were disgusted. I am not someone to review a restaurant but I've been to this location 3 times and it's always a mess. All the workers are so slow and don't feel the need to get people through the line. The count is always a disaster with food everywhere, sauce spilled, guacamole smeared across other sauces, this time there was tons of corn salsa mixed with the red hot salsa...it all looked completely unappetizing on top of the fact that they were out of fajitas, which they always seem to be when I go, and the gal working had zero idea of when they'd have fajitas cooked and ready to serve again. Every person sitting there looked like Chipotle was sucking their soul and breaking their will to live. Digital only is the worst concept, making burritos with 4 people crammed into a tiny space when you have a massive prep area and making everyone wait for way longer than you would normally ordering doesn't fix whatever you're trying to accomplish and making the customer experience suffer. First walked in and it's all digital ordering which means you have to sit at a table and order on your phone. 7 people working and making orders, 4 of them crammed into a corner making orders. Waited about 20 minutes for food and the order was wrong. Tried to get help in store and on the app to no avail. Beans were missing from all orders even though it was plain as day on the receipt. On top of that the wife had to clean and wipe a table to even sit in the restaurant. All tables were disgusting with trash and food. I am very disappointed with this location in Duluth Mn. This is not the first time for a bad experience here lately. I would not recommend coming to this location anytime in the near future. This review is the Duluth location only. This location does not live up to the brand at all. I personally was excited when they announced they where coming to Duluth. My go to is the steak. It hasn't been dried out more then 2 times. Even when it's been "fresh". Last time in was a about a week ago. For not having lots of people eating in besides some cops the place was a disaster. Fountain area was messy. Tables all looked sticky. I didn't get my food until 30min after my desired pick up time. Which usually would be understandable if they where busy. They where not. I think I have given this location the last of my business. I will stick with Oais del norte and the new Taco's Taco's Taco's my business moving forward. read more

It's unfortunate that this location receives so many poor reviews... I live in a small town 80 miles away from Duluth, but I drive to/through Duluth at least 3 times a month and I almost always get Chipotle here. The service is sometimes above average, most times superb, and the food has never been disappointing. There have been a couple occasions where the rice was slightly harder than usual, or the fajita veggies were a little more crispy than usual, but considering that I am usually getting two meals-worth of nutritious food wrapped in a massive burrito that is usually THE LITERAL SIZE OF A SMALL HUMAN CHILD, the occasional undercooking ingredient is hardly enough to justify a negative opinion. Some members of the staff have occasionally seemed tired/quiet (probably because many of them are hard-working college students from one of the many nearby school), but they have never been rude or disrespectful. And on plenty of occasions, they have gone out of their way to ensure a superlative experience in some way. Most recently, I was on a road trip with a few family members, and we passed through Duluth on our way back home. We got hit with a heavy snowstorm as we were passing through Wisconsin, so I called in advance to see if we would be able to order burritos for our tired crew (it had been a 12-hour day of driving) to be picked up at 10 o'clock -- which is when this location was scheduled to close. The manager was inclined to cater to our needs despite our potential tardiness, so we eagerly placed our order (through the app). We thankfully arrived a bit early at 9:53, and were greeted with welcoming grins and congratulations from the staff. We set out on the last leg of our journey, each cradling a warm package of scrumptious Chipotle goodness. It is with a full stomach and a warm heart that I write this review now, having just finished off the last half of my meal earlier today (the day after our escapade). Bless you, Chipotle of Duluth. We are here from out of town for a hockey tournament and visited this store for lunch. The store was FILTHY. Food piled up on the counter area where the staff prepares the orders, nobody even wiped it the whole time we were there (we dined in), dirty tables. I was so disgusted I couldn't even eat the food I purchased. Staff was super nice, but oh my gosh, so incredibly gross... Pico de Gallo had no cilantro or jalapeño, it was literally just tomatoes and red onion. Corn salsa had no cilantro or peppers, literally just corn. White rice had zero cilantro and I tasted no lime. Food was awful, rice was crunchy, chicken was cold, service people don't listen, didn't put chicken in the quesadilla despite us asking, said no sour cream and they dump sour cream on top, ordered double chicken for burrito bowl and they barely put in one spoonful, chips were stale and chewy (disgusting) and finally guacamole was brown.. It's taste good, for what I actually receive. Apparently they think a salad can still be a salad without dressing. Almost every time I've gotten Chipotle i order a salad and never get my dressing.
