Definitely my 1st and last time

1st time I ordered delivery by Doordarsh to get my order cold really cold, and delivery was 5 min driving from the store, no utensils i have to use the chips as forks, no napkins well a mess sorry chipotle you lose me

Barely full salad. Can you spare some lettuce please?

Before I started this review, I can see the complaints I have are par for the course here. Here is a photo of my salad. This is the third time in a row I have received a salad like this over the past few months. Each time it's barely full, barely any lettuce. It's a salad; I'm actually saving the company money! I don't even get rice in it. Why is it not filled with lettuce? At least fill the container. I also had an issue with a previous order where they left the fruit and drink out of a kids meal. The order was through Door Dash and they were only able to offer a small credit. I had also complained about the empty salad. Door Dash said the company (Chipotle) would reach out to me, which never happened. The company should have offered me a refund for the items. So now I resort to Yelp, which looks like an echo chamber of the problems with this location. Do better please.

NO CHICKEN AT ALL!!

i am higlly disappointed i paid all this money for a chicken burrito bowl with half steak added to get no damn chicken at all forget the chicken no meat period! who do you guys have working at this facility that cant make customers food right...would you want yor food made this way

HELP! This employee needs help. Empty food line at 5:30p on a Friday!

Not sure this location was ready for their grand opening. After 3 visits, I quickly noticed that there is a lack of staff during their busiest times/days. Typically, I order through the mobile app to avoid the long lines during their high traffic but at this location it does not help. Every visit is met with long lines and a long wait for all online orders. Most locations have a full team on their line and a smaller team to fulfill online orders. At this location, there is ONE person on the line and ONE person running around fulfilling orders and working the register. My last visit, I waited approx 40 min for my online order. The staff was apologetic and offered free chips, guac & drink. But this cannot be the norm. If you are heading to this location, be prepared to WAIT! opened a few months ago

The rice is always perfectly cooked, and the cheese and queso adds a nice flavor to the burritos and burrito bowls.

It's took me a long time to finally check this place out. I knew about it, and I even knew where…read moreit was supposed to be located, but I'd driven by it a thousand times without going in...largely due to the very small sign located over the location. I didn't actually realize it was where I wanted to go until I was parking in front of it. As mentioned in other reviews, the dining space inside is small and very basic--which is fine. The portion of the store selling Mexican food staples is in the front as you enter, and the handful of dine-in tables are located at the back of the store between the store's aisles and the kitchen counter. What finally got me there to visit was that it was open for breakfast, and while a lot of places say they're open for breakfast, opening up at 9AM twice a week doesn't qualify. El Sabor Oaxaqueño 2 is open for breakfast most days at 6AM, because they serve people who are working their butts off and who need a good meal. The breakfasts at El Oaxaqueño 2 serve that need. My Chilaquiles Verde were spicy, but not super spicy, and it was served with rice and black beans. My carne asada was an addition as were my fried eggs. You can also get chicken breast (pechuga) or a red sauce if that's more your style. My wife's Huevos con Chorizo were very flavorful and very filling. They were also served with rice and black beans, along freshly made tortillas and a stick of cheese to crumble over your meal. She was only able to finish off half her plate, and we took home the rest. Our next visit was for dinner, and because I couldn't decide on what I wanted, we split three plates between us. First up was my Tacos de Tripa. I asked for the tripa (pork chitterlings, not tripe) to be well cooked so that it was crunchy, and they served them up just as I like them. They were topped with chopped onion and garlic, and once topped with the spicy green fresh salsa, we gobbled them down. The tortillas were freshly made and had a nice texture. The next dish was the chicken enchiladas en mole. Four enchiladas were well stuffed with white chicken meat then bathed in flavorful mole and served with rice and beans. Thankfully, it wasn't topped with a ridiculously huge glob of melted cheese. Last was the Quesadilla--not your Mama's quesadilla either. It was huge, and it wasn't as cheesy as the quesadillas the average person knows. Inside it was stuffed almost like a taco with big pieces of shrimp in one half and carne asada in the other. There was cheese, but cheese was not the star as it is in the average quesadilla we're all used to. It was good, and we both enjoyed it--it was just a surprise. The place is far from fancy, but they serve real food, and it's real good.

They've a good menu…read morewith most of the usual suspects on it, and they're located next to a small market where you can pick up a bag Cacahuates Japoneses to enjoy on the drive home. Service is friendly and efficient. Orders are made at the counter, or, dare you dare, via QR codes located at the table. Parking is limited, and because it's located between two one-way streets, it can be tricky coming in to or leaving. The Sopes at La Taqueria are a must to try. They're heavily ladened with tasty toppings, and I'd order them again in a heartbeat. The chorizo sope was especially good, and had enough chorizo on it to make two Sopes. Be forewarned that you will not have clean hands after eating them. On another visit I tried the fish tacos. Fish tacos at La Taqueria are the chopped/shredded variety rather than the deep fried filet version. The tortillas themselves were heated well, but were nothing special, nor was the flavor of the fish itself anything remarkable. I expected something more interesting from the place. On the flip side, I also tried a Taco de Tripa, asking for it to be cooked crisp (Tripa in Mexico is pork chitterling, not tripe) and it was very, very (feel free to insert more verys) good, and is definitely a taco I'll try again and again. During our most recent visit, we had the Enchiladas de Pollo en Mole, which brought four enchiladas in a deeply flavored mole with rice and beans. The mole was not sweet like so many other moles in other area restaurants, but was instead relying heavily on the flavors of the chiles. It was very tasty, and a nice change from the usual sweet moles. We also had an excellent Huarache de Lengua, a thick, oval tortilla ladened with beef tongue. I have a feeling my wife will be ordering it each time we return. In addition, we ordered a bowl of the Sopa de Panza y Pata, a soup with a spicy broth and loaded with cow's hooves and tripe. It was a meal in itself, and was also served with rice on the side along with some thick corn gorditas. I was torn between four and five stars here, and if the fish tacos hadn't been such a bust, they'd probably have gotten that fifth star. La Taqueria is definitely in the top tier of local Mexican/Guatemalan restaurants, and will be part of our regular rotation going forward.

We always do delivery so we called to straighten the issue out and have it delivered today and when we called the restaurant they told it's no one there speaks English. They can't help us. WHAAT?! My head is spinning. I will be back to follow up on this one. Ok I left that so that you could see what my initial problem was, but I am extremely impressed with a quick response from Ricardo, who I believe is one of the owners and the help I got from the restaurant itself. And yes, I found several people that spoke English. And I'm so happy to be able to update this because the food is out of this world. But they did tell me that I have to order through DoorDash that I can't order for delivery through them so just note that And definitely stop by because this food is so outstanding that I don't believe there's any other Mexican restaurant that can touch this I lived in Arizona for five years and I found out what real Mexican food taste like and all the wonderful fresh ingredients they use like the American version of Chinese food. The American version of Mexican can be way way off and that's a shame because Mexican food is so healthy and so fresh when it's made by the right people that you can eat healthy and be extremely happy at the same time.

I'd known about them for years, but they were kind of out of the way for me. The place is small and unassuming, which gave me high expectations, as sometimes I find myself having lower expectations for a more "Mexican" decorated place (I'm wrong as often as I'm right). As far as the Fish Tacos went, they do not serve the Baja style fried fish tacos that I'd grown up on out west, so it was a downer when the plater arrived and I saw the tacos filled with chopped fish cooked in broth. That said, at least the taco was well filled and the fish had a very good flavor. The broth turned out to be a major issue, as the (very tasty) single layer tortillas were soaking up the broth while I ate the first taco, and the second and third tacos both split at the seams and fell apart after one or two bites. A second tortilla may have prevented this debacle, but I won't order fish tacos here again. I'd have loved a fish soup made in this style. The next visit I tried Tacos de Tripa (fried pork intestines), which is my current go to taco style. They were very good, and I enjoyed the heck out of them. They were nice and crispy as I'd requested, and the excellent tasting tortilla made them an excellent choice. My wife had a cheese tamal that had ribbons of poblanos inside as well, and it was also very good with the poblanos providing a nice balance to the heaviness of the cheese. I'd get both again in a heartbeat. My third visit was at lunchtime, and I opted for a Torta de Chili Relleno--essentially a chili relleno sandwich. It wasn't the first I've ever had, and it's a fave torta when I see them on the menu--which isn't often. The torta arrived with a nice sized chili relleno along with the usual smear of beans, lettuce, tomatoes, avocado, and a couple pieces of queso fresco served on a lightly toasted roll. Overall, the torta was very good tasting, and it went down nicely. However, I wish they used a little firmer roll instead of the soft one they did use. The torta was big and warm, and a crustier roll would have been better. The soft one used was near to collapsing under the weight of the ingredients. Fries are an option on the many torta options for a couple dollars extra. In retrospect, I'd have liked to have added a layer of fries to the sandwich for a little extra kick. All in all, El Gallo Tropical is a place I'll continue to go to. The staff is very friendly, and the menu is extensive (too big?). Although I had them initially at three stars after my first visit for fish tacos, the second (4+) and third (4-) visits have raised them up, and I'm rounding up to a four.

I'm very happy I gave it a try. It was a few miles away but tucked into an area I would have not have known about. The small parking lot was filled so I parked next door at a seedy liquor store. Inside are about 8 tables and a large open kitchen. There are a few options available at a steam table at the front, a few stews and a soup that all looked great, I may just go with one of those next time. While waiting for my to go order I could see the cooks taking pride in their craft. There were a few gringos like me dining in, and the dishes they ordered were plated beautifully. Once home I tore into my guac and chips first. Sturdy homemade chips with a citrusy guac. I just wished the guac had been put into a container so I could eat it later. The chicken tostadas looked a little beat up from the drive but were not soggy and were very well made. The chicken had been lightly charred on the flat top and all the ingredients blended perfectly. A note on the sauces, both red and green were thin ish, but very good. I was surprised that neither were too hot! I had the chicken empanadas for dinner and was again very pleased . These are on the larger size but a bit thin. As I was heating them I could detect a smoky flavor. The filling was excellent. It appeared to be chunks of roasted bird blended with potato, peas and carrots. It came with a separate baggie of shredded cabbage and carrots that I forgot about until just now. I get empanada often, and these were some of the best recent ones. The restaurant also has some sweet treats available in cases at the front, I kind of regret not trying any of those. Customer service was very good and with no language barriers. If this was closer it would probably become a regular stop for me. But I'll definitely return when I'm at the farmers market. 4.5 stars.....
