First time I dine at a Habit Burger. I ordered the Club chicken sandwich that came with bacon and avocado. I have to say that I really enjoyed it. It was really good. A nice size and tasted fresh and hot. The only thing I didn't like was that the bread seemed to have been toasted with butter. I can do without the extra fat so it's something I have to remember to mention when I visit this establishment again. It doesn't take away from the rating, but worth mentioning and if you like to watch your fat intake. I prefer bacon so I rather cut back on the buttered toasted bread. Service is quick and efficient. Staff are helpful. Vibes were my favorite part of the experience--musical throw backs to songs from 2015 were the jam. Light rock, pop songs, all the good high school jams that took me back. We got Double BBQ Bacon Char, double cheeseburger, Sweet Potato Fries, fries, onion rings and fried string beans. Food was decidedly mediocre and nothing to ever return for. Burgers are low quality--super dry and tasteless meat. Zero flavor. You need a ton of trimmings to make it palatable. Regular double cheeseburger was a miss. Double bbq char burger was a tiny bit better thanks to the bacon and fried onions that gave the sad burger some texture and flavor. The bun added nothing, so I'd skip it and get the lettuce wrap instead. Regular Fries were soggy and bland. Skip. Burger place @ Lawrenceville, NJ The burger joint is conveniently located at Mercer Mall where the shoprite is located. We ordered double char combo and original char burger. The burgers were fully cooked as we liked and was juicy and yummy. The French fries were also crispy. Ordering thru the kiosk was easy and picked up the food when the texture came. The seating area was clean and nicely decorated with California landscape pictures. The restaurant wasn't anything extraordinary, but the food was above average. The staff members appeared a bit tired but remained friendly and helpful. Generally, customers were responsible for disposing of their trash, but on occasion, staff members would come out to clear away any leftover trash. While I didn't personally observe the staff using a spray to clean the tables during my visit, it's possible that they do so at other times. The music is fun and at a volume where you are able to carry a conversation. The parking is plentiful as it is in a strip mall. If you want a good burger and don't want to get ripped off by Shake shack and 5 guys pricing, check out habit burger! Just like the beloved in n out, Habit burger is from California. They have some "west coasty" stuff on the menu like an ahi tuna sandwich, as well as the classic burger and chicken sandwiches. Honestly I didn't study the menu much, as I came in for my free birthday charburger with cheese. It would've cost about $6.50 had I paid, and frankly that would've been worth it. The taste was great: bun was fresh, veggies were good, the order was made exactly as requested. The onions are grilled and really add a lot to the flavor, who doesn't love onions? Service was friendly (although honestly that isn't a requirement to me these days, particularly at fast food places). I don't want to give them any ideas and say they're underpriced. Unfortunately, I think I'm so warped by the new insane prices at "fast casual" and fast food grease purveyors like Mickey d's and BK. habit burger is miles above anything you'd ever get from the latter, and a far better value than chipotle or the like. The inside looked nice, definitely "classy" enough to meet a friend or associate for lunch and not feel like you're slumming it at all. Only knock isn't really their fault - they're stuck in the absolute maze of strip mall hell off route 1 back by the shop rite, Mercer mall, REI, and 50 other places. We're living through "peak burger" meaning fried, lifeless meat on a bun with a dollop of ketchup and a few sorry looking pickle slices no longer suffice. To be taken seriously as a carnivorous destination, your burger must be huge, flamed to order and then piled with enough 'fixins' to dislocate your jaw. The Habit Burger Grill is waiting for your arrival. The burgers here are monstrosities and honestly are more like a modern art rendering than a proper hamburger - meaning you'll probably need a fork to properly hoover everything on your plate. Ultimately, they were very tasty, if a little haphazard. I liked the experience but now as a chain under the Yum Brands banner (Taco Bell, Pizza Hut, KFC) I have a sneaking suspicion they're about to get far less generous. Oh, and bring a wad of cash. I'm slightly rounding up but have to say I enjoyed my first visit here. I was shopping nearby and saw the location, it was next to another restaurant I have yet to try, so it was a toss up. Economics probably aided in my choice. There was a slight wait to order in person but it gave me a chance to view the menu. At a burger joint I almost always go bacon cheese, and that was what I went for here. I added on fries and onion rings. I was handed a pager and told to wait for its call. In a matter of minutes my order was ready and I was on my way home. I read a few friends reviews so I knew to order a double, and that's also how I decided on the rings. I have to agree, they are very good. With a standard thinner sliced onion, all pieces were cooked through, and the breading was light and crisp. The fries were ok, I'd definitely opt for the rings alone on future trips. The burger fell into the 5 guys/Shakeshack category, possibly right in the middle. The bun was very good, denser bread that could hold up to multiple components. The burgers, although thin had a lite char and good flavor. The bacon was ok, plenty of cheese, and surprisingly sautéed onions. The onions help this become a 4 star burger. I was there at a fairly busy time on a weekend, but all employees were working well together and takeouts and eat ins were all handled promptly. The onion rings looked to good to pass up so I ordered those as well. --I was not wrong! I cannot say enough about the food as it was simply exquisite. The staff was very friendly and helpful with my order and the wait was not bad at all. They have outdoor seating and overall the restaurant was clean and tidy--including the restroom. This location has gone from 5 stars to 1. Why? I went in on a Friday night and I ordered a charburger with cheese (free for my birthday), an order of fries and a salted caramel shake. First issue is the woman at the register gave me a cup although I had ordered a shake. I corrected her and she silently put the cup back. I then gave her my phone to scan the barcode for the free charburger. It legitimately took her over a full minute just to scan the barcode. She handed me the buzzer as I ordered my food to go. I noticed an insect on the floor. I mean, Christmas is a few weeks away (translation: it's cold, it's not like it's the middle of August) and I have been coming here for years and have never seen this before. A bag is given to me and two other people. The woman says, I dont think this is my order. I didnt order a shake. The guy who handed her the bag said, you didnt? Who ordered the shake? I said, I did. I ordered a salted caramel milkshake. The woman who took my order, who was standing right next to the guy, then asked me what kind of milkshake. I stated it was a salted caramel milkshake again. She walked back to make it. The woman next to me asked the guy, are you sure this order is correct? I took my receipt out and recited my order to the guy then asked, is this what is in my bag? He said yes. I said, a charburger with cheese with an order of fries and I showed him the receipt. The receipt shows it was an order for a Charburger with cheese, no lettuce, no tomato, pickles, mayo and cheese. He looked at my receipt and confirmed that was the order he gave me. The female cashier who took my order handed me my shake. I took everything and went home. When I got home, I was absolutely disgusted to discover that despite all of my efforts, I was STILL given the wrong order. I was given a charburger with cheese and onions (I do not, under any circumstances, eat onions ever) and onions have a VERY strong taste so the burger has now essentially been ruined. I used to come to this Habit location a few times a week back in 2019. I worked late every day and it was on my way home from work. The employees were extremely friendly, professional and even memorized my order after a while. I tipped one of them $10 once and, when I refused to take it back, he gave me a coupon for a free charburger. That's the level of service that used to be provided at Habit Burger. The location is a joke now. It's not like it was one person, both the cashier and the guy who was given out the orders totally failed, despite me repeatedly trying to confirm the order. It wasnt an "honest mistake", it was straight up apathy and disinterest from both the cashier and the guy. And honestly, that's just disrespectful. I will literally never visit this location again. This place is an absolute joke compared to Shake Shack and, if they don't hire employees who can actually provide customer service, they are going to meet the same fate as Smashburger which also used to be at Mercer Mall and is now closed. They must have lost their staff due to the pandemic and are now just hiring anyone with a pulse. Stopped at Habit Burger because we were shopping in our lunch break and needed something to take back to the office. I opted for their seasonal salad with chicken almonds, blue berries and strawberries. I was regretting my choose as the wafts of others burgers filled the room my number was called and I took my salad and headed to the door because I gave in. To my very pleasant surprise the salad was amazing! I would totally go back and get that! Salads rarely excite me but this one did! It started with a mix green base.Slivered almonds were mixed in so you got one in most bites. There was the perfect amount of feta or goat cheese sprinkled throughout the salad too. I asked for an extra balsamic dressing but honestly one was enough. I'm not sure but what I am sure of is that this salad excited me and sometimes it's hard to be excited by the health option. I frequent this place. It is a level up from the other fast food joints and, at least i like to believe, that it is the healthier option. Usually get a a couple of charburgers with grilled chicken sandwiches. Be careful to order what kind of bun you want as well as the sauce as they sometimes forget to see if you want something different. No biggie tho. Fries and Onion rings are done very well and they remember to offer ranch dressing for the onion rings. Love that they have Mr. Pibb on the fountain. It's no In-n-Out, but this Santa Barbara establishment finally made it to the East Coast, and when it landed in NJ, my tastebuds went riot! The burgers are just a great combination of well-cooked freshness (and fast and friendly service), yummy shakes, and any other "regular" burger joint side selections. The prices are respectable (you can still get a teriyaki burger with pineapple in it for $4 and change), with some more expensive gourmet items decorating the menu. Habit Burger is a great casual food option for a quick and freshly prepared meal without having to resort to typical fast food chains. I would rate the food as above average, but my experiences on food quality have varied from visit to visit, which is somewhat expected depending on who is working the grill. They have salads and vegetarian options which is refreshing to see as most other burger joints don't venture too far in menu variety. The decor is pleasant and inviting with a Cali vibe. Just tried habit burger grill for the first time today and it exceeded my expectations on many aspects. We arrived with a herb of 8 kids after my sons birthday party. The place is bright and clean. The staff was WONDERFUL. One of the employee saw us and immediately put tables together and clean them off to make sure all the kids can sit together and enjoy the meal. That was above and beyond in my opinion. The person took our orders was very patient as we went through each kids meal with custom pairings. For us adults, we ordered two burgers and one chicken sandwiches. We waited about 6 minutes and our food was ready. Each kid enjoyed their meals thoroughly as well as the adults. My grilled chicken sandwich with grilled onion with teriyaki sauce was delicious. You can tell the chicken was made to order with the grill taste. The sauce added a perfect amount of seasoning to make sure each bite was tasty. Fries were also good. After eating my chicken sandwich, I was looking for a little more, so I ordered their ahi tuna sandwich (sushi grade), the best part was it cost only $8. I ordered it medium rare and it came out just as that. I ate the tuna on its own and I was surprised how tasty it was. Never expect sushi grade tuna at a 'burger' joint.
