We love The Bullpen and try to make it in there for a meal once a week or so. Their BBQ Egg Rolls are delicious! We've had a variety of items from their new expanded menu and each item is really good. The owner is very nice and so is his staff. It's a really friendly neighborhood place but if you are a stranger in town visiting, don't worry. You'll be treated like a neighbor, too. This is a must stop place for my son when he is in town from Chicago. Their beer selection is great. Their bloody Mary's are yummy, too. read more

I grew up in Streator and moved years ago. On a visit a few months back my brother turned me on to this place. I am a big fan of smoked meat and beer (who isn't?). Good prices, great food and ice cold beer... I am impressed. The brisket could be 'smokier' but all in all an overall good experience. Bar atmosphere is another plus, could turn some off though. All in all you have to give this place a try. I want it there for many visits home to come. read more

I ordered a burger from this place and it was completely raw and the tater tots were mushy and cold it is not worth the money.

We found this place by chance and had a great time! I had the turkey and my husband had the brisket. Both were great but the fries stole the show! The bartender/waiter/nice guy made it even better. We played darts and I beat my husband so bad!! Haha! It is a bar but we do not drink. We didn't feel out of place or anything. If we ever venture back to Streator we will return. read more

The Bullpen is a neighborhood pub with some big time barbecue. Their smoked wing appetizer and egg rolls are excellent. I had the hungry platter with samples of ribs and choice of meats. I had beef, pork, and sausage. All of the meats were very good. When I return I will order fewer appetizers to save room for the entrée. If you are in a hurry this may not be your best option as it does take some time to get your food, but, when it arrives you won't be disappointed. read more

Was there last night for dinner with another couple. We had three catfish dinners and a ribeye dinner. The ribeye was so bitter and had a sharp taste two pieces were cut and she could not handle anymore. Waitress was like what ever. Sweat potatoe casserole was ice cold. I got there catfish which is always good but I had french fries that must of been from the bottom of the bag nothing over an inch. Baked beans that came from a can no flavor at all. The waitress asked how the food was we told her like it was. She then became upset and rude. She then asked if we needed a togo box for the steak. Then explained it was awful that we wouldn't let the dog eat it if we can't eat it. Never once did she try to make things right. Sorry never again. read more

I had heard through a co-worker about the Bullpen. I was excited to try some of the beers they have on tap. My wife and I were looking forward to trying this new restaurant as it is only a couple blocks away from where we live and we always support local business as much as we can. We walked in around 7:15pm on a Saturday evening. I was impressed with the cleanliness and the nice job they had done renovating the old bar. There were 3 other tables, all of which had already been served their food. There were two staff members behind the bar who made eye contact with us when we came in but no greeting. No "welcome, we will be right with you" or "have a seat wherever you like." We sat ourselves and waited...and waited...and waited. The female bartender stood behind the bar and appeared to be playing with her phone. The male, whom we thought was finally coming over to our table, decided instead to clean the table that was 10 feet away. He then proceeded to stand behind the bar and do nothing. After 10 minutes of being ignored, we left. We were asking ourselves, should we go up to the bar and ask for menus? With this place being a new business, there should be signs if this is the case. Or the staff should inform the customers of the format. We are very disappointed that we cannot frequent this restaurant that is so close to home. read more
