I bought a car from Chips in November 2024. In December I had to replace the air suspension. In March I had a huge cam shaft repair. The car overheated and needed a new coil and had to be towed and most recently the rear tail light went out and when going to replace it , it's covered in electrical tape and clearly there had been a problem with after market parts. When I called in March about the problems with the car I was told it was my fault for buying an older car and was taunted for having a co-signer. I would NEVER recommend this business or the people who run it. They taped together issues and hid problems to sell the car and told me to file a complaint instead of helping me with the vehicle. I would never ever do business here again and would strongly discourage anyone from doing business here. read more

After a long search for my dream car, a 1997 Jaguar Xj 6 Vanden Plas; I finally found it listed on their website. I'm not sure how I ran across the listing, but I am glad that I did. I have to admit I was nervous about buying a car on-line and having it shipped from one state to another. But the listing was detailed, had photographs, and a link to CarFax. I contacted them, and after several emails, text messages, and a few phone calls over the course of several days, we agreed on the sale. Since I'd had never done this before, they walked me through the entire process, what to expect, and outlined and tagged what I sign, what I keep and what I send back. They offered to help secure a transport company, but were honest and suggested I may want to check around. My Jaguar arrived yesterday, more beautiful and pristine than expected! I had to get a new car recently. I found a great car at Chip's yesterday. Working with Sunan Siregar was a great experience. Everyone is very friendly and pleasant. They make you feel like family. Their cars on the lot are all in great shape. They are very picky to the vehicles they try to bring in. One star is for Chip, the rest are for Sunan. Oh that's right, I only gave a one star rating. Aside from Sunan's unprofessional manner behind a keyboard (see Google reviews), I was sold a car that was functional, however was definitely just bought and put on their lot, no inspection completed whatsoever. The day I picked up the car, I took the car to Splash car wash for a deep clean as it had a smell to it, in which I found empty snack and drink wrappers/containers in just about all compartments (center console, glove box, storage spaces within the car). I thought, no big deal, I can just clean it out myself. However, these small issues turned into MUCH larger ones. For example, when I test drove the car I was told the automatic back hatch didn't work, but that it would be fixed prior to receiving the car. However, a few days after picking up the car, the automatic hatch stopped working again, hence stating the issue was not properly solved, and I brought it back to the dealer. I immediately walked in and spoke with Sunan, and he came outside, called on the mechanic, tested the back hatch once, and stated that I was basically SOL because I purchased the car "as is", although Sunan himself mentioned upon INITIAL TEST DRIVE that this issue would be fixed, and in fact kindly pushed back the date I could pick up the car to "ensure" the issue with the automatic back hatch was fixed. LIES!! This is just one of the many issues that arose with a car that was "inspected" and "safe to drive" (with the final issue being the last straw which resulted in me getting rid of the car after 6 months). As you can tell from my account, I do not leave reviews like this or truly at all--however, I felt compelled to inform other potential car buyers to be very careful with Chip's Auto Sales and specifically Sunan. Although, I know that if this review gets responded to it's going to be a fight back from Sunan with a few lines about there being "no basis for my complaints" and "misinformation." I would be interested to see if the business had cameras, because I am over 100% confident that everything mentioned above CAN be pulled up on those cameras. Please, whatever you do, do NOT get yourself involved in the immaturity of Sunan, although that means sacrificing supporting Chip himself. read more

Well 1 year later and $13,000 dollars worth of repairs from extended warranties. If you buy anything from Chios get a PPI. Pre purchase inspection from a shop not associated with this dealership. If they say no don't buy it. This purchase disaster was all my fault. Thankfully I purchased a aftermarket warranty. Otherwise it would have been horrible. I had to buy a 2018 Tahoe to use for my business because this was in the shop so long. The vehicle I purchased from Chios is now a backup. Purchased a 2017 Jeep Wrangler and the brakes on the Drivers side seized up on the way home from the dealer. We had to replace 2 calipers and brake lines. They claim that this can happen at any time on an "older vehicle" and I should have towed it back to their dealership for them to inspect. This is a Major safety concern and the vehicle should have been inspected better prior to sale. read more

Recently, my sister purchased a pre-owned car from this dealership, and the next day, the car broke down. We contacted Chip's Autosale to inform them of the issue, but they provided no assistance and claimed she must keep the vehicle. This dealership lacks reliability and shows little concern for customer satisfaction. I have also filed a complaint with the Connecticut Better Business Bureau. read more

As previously noted this place is shady. DO NOT purchase any car from them until you have a mechanic go over the car from top to bottom. Joe is unscrupulous and he has no problem making false representations. I mistakenly took his word and I have now sunk twice the amount of the purchase price into repairs. And they put a sticker on your car and if you don't like it they tell you where to go...to get it removed. There business rating is BS. Carfax approved. Made a complaint with better business bureau who never contacted me and closed the case. BUYER BEWARE. They're liars and cheats. Go see for yourself with your MECHANIC. I couldn't ask for anything more. I had been looking on Long Island, New Jersey, Connecticut and Massachusetts for a meticulously maintained Range Rover in a certain price range. That's a tall order despite how many are out there. I spotted one that appeared to be exactly what I was looking for the first day it was listed on auto trader at Chip's. I called immediately and spoke with Joe. I explained I was at least three hours away and needed to feel confident that the Rover listed would not disappoint. The next morning my father and I set out from East Hampton. When we arrived Joe was with a customer and we were greeted by Chip. He took us out to the Rover and I immediately loved the car. It was perfect. We went out for a long test drive and then played around with everything making sure all the electrical stuff worked. Chip knows Range Rovers inside and out (and he knew as much about my 82' Mercedes as well). After feeling satisfied with the kicking of the tires we had a pleasant negotiation and left an hour later with the Rover and all paper work completed. The impression my father and I left with is that these two guys are gentleman and run a quality business that they take pride in. Granted I was upset that I had an issue with my car so I called Chips and they told me to bring it in so they could take a look. I got a call back saying that indeed it was the brakes so they had replaced all 4 brakes! I was so happy. I thought this was great. I would definitely do business with them again. I visited Chip's Auto Sales on Friday evening and encountered a sales associate that didn't give us a chance to test drive the vehicle. He went directly to calculating the price of the vehicle. He couldn't subtract and stated "I'll give you a $300 dollars discount off of the dealer conveyance fee of $599" which came out to $399 in his mind, as he entered it on a spreadsheet on the computer (which is supposed to be $299). I was aware that $399 was the standard fee, so you weren't cutting my parents and I a deal and lied to us. After that he continued with his calculation; therefore I lied to him that I was only looking to spend an amount significantly reduced from the price that he was asking so that I can deter the deal and go to another dealer. The associate was dishonest, incompetent, and not a good representation of the company. I would recommend Gary from Garavel, Subaru of Norwalk purchased a beautiful 2017 Subaru Impreza or Jeremy from Kia of Danbury (didn't purchase a car, nonetheless, had a great interaction based on his customer service, advice, and being upfront)! read more

I had a great experience buying a car here! I had gone to 3 other dealerships previously and they were all very pushy and aggressive in their attempt to make a sale. They also were not up front with me about the turn around time between signing paperwork and taking my car home. Chip's was very upfront about everything and gave me realistic expectations for how the process would work for me, as I had very poor credit. They were a pleasure to work with, returned all my calls right away and sold me a vehicle at a price that was well below the Kelly Blue Book value.
