$2000 mistake, went to uncbob for the fix. i took my car in for some motor work, it was built by them when my uncle was employed there in the shop. he was THE master fabricator. he quit bc their nothing but bs, thats why they dont sell sandrails nemore. nehow the motor needed the endplay set, so i take it in bc i just bought a clutch. they tell me the motor is rusted shut, they needed to remove it and it was $2k. so i do it. i get the car and it starts pouting oil within 5 mins. i look at the exhhaust and the bolts are rusted on, as it had been sitting for ~5yrs. obv the motor was never removed and no work was ever done. i take it to bob and he tells me the same thing they did NOTHING. and now my rear case bearing has beaten itself out and i buy a new motor from bob. the main pully was so loose it flew off the car when i was driving, i have lots of other misc damage due to their thievery. if you want to be scammed out of your wealth then go here else stick with bob, hes a great guy. overall i had given them $13,500 over a 10 yr period, my car looks like it belongs in a junkyard, i could have just bout a cherry one for 1/4 the price. read more

Chirco "Performance" removed and replaced my carburetor (per their recommendations as I had told them to replace anything they felt should be replaced) and what a mess they made. When they installed the air cleaner back on the carburetor, they did not install the mount clamp!? However, they did put it in a plastic bag and placed it behind the front seat on the floor. The good news is at least they did not lose it and I was able to put it back on myself. They installed the old, frayed vent hose back on to the air cleaner using a zip tie, really!? (Remember I asked them to replace parts that they felt should be replaced.) They did not replace the air filter, but don't you think that a "PERFORMANCE SHOP" would replace an extremely dirty filter before installing it back on a new carburetor (way to go the extra mile)?! A dirty air filter would definitely affect performance. Would have maybe cost $12.00 and 5 minutes to replace. I found this out when I went to install the air cleaner mount clamp that they left off. They also did not remove and replace a severely cracked vent hose that goes from the air cleaner to the oil vent housing. Please look at the attached pictures. Be cautious! Save your money and go to a shop that takes the time to do it right and has pride in the work they do. read more

Been here a few times over the past months. It is the place for getting parts for old air-cooled VWs. That said, they don't have everything, especially if you're still running original 6V electrics. Regardless, great folks with a sweet shop. There's also a multi-car service bay. I had them do some welding work on my 1962 Ghia. Job was done quickly, professionally, and for a reasonable cost. The real feather in the cap here though are the events. Oh the events! Bugtoberfest (B-fest) is simply not to be missed! What a great time! Smaller events are also held though. Went to a great one that was a benefit for a dog shelter. Great cause and I left with a clean car and a clean dog. Fun times at an auto garage? And npr isn't even an underwriter! read more

I bought a master cylinder and pedal kit from them. I posted a review on their site because it was single circuit and their webiste didn't say that. It was useless for a street car. They deleted my review. I called them about it and they were very smug and made it clear that they would not work with me at all. I won't do business with them again. read more

I asked what I could do and they said they would send a new one out right away. What a great feeling to be treated with respect and that my word was sufficient evidence. Although I have yet to personally purchase anything from here, my boyfriend is a regular. This is basically THE place to go if you are in Tucson and own a VW. Those are always breaking down, and Chirco always has the parts or can find you the parts to fix just about anything. My boyfriend has a VW Rail and a '65 bug, so we are there a lot. Once a year in October they have Bugtoberfest which is a huge VW show that folks come from afar to be a part of. Really neat stuff, and usually some very rare cars will be there. They have a swapmeet around the back where you can pick up some cheap stuff, and also camping on the side for the out of towners. This is the show to go to if you are interested in purchasing an older VW. If you talk to the guys at the store about things you are looking for, they will keep an eye out for things for you. My boyfriend recently got a great deal on paddle tires from one of the guys there. read more

Found them online as Corbeau seat dealer, so I called them to confirm they had a certain model in stock and they said they did, told them i would go and check them out. I drive an 1 hour to get there and when I ask they tell me they don't carry a much inventory what's on the show floor is it. Of course none of these are the ones I called about. i always stop in here with tommy. s when he needs parts for the buggy. they owners are really nice and so are all the workers. i especially love every october when they have bugtoberfest car show, its a now 3 day event with a camp out next door for 3 nights with live music and vw bus campers called the red barn round up starting on the friday before the show, then saturday is a cruise and bbq and of course day 2 of red barn round up, then up bright and early sunday for the carshow. i have gone for 5 years now and love it and love the vw community they are some of the nicest people you will ever meet. read more

I ordered a set of Bilstein shocks through Chirco only to find that they did not fit my vehicle. Chirco would NOT return these for me - their suggestion was that I try to sell them on Craigslist. So now I have a set of $800 shocks that I can't do anything with. I'm writing this review so that perhaps I can save someone else some money and aggravation. DO NOT buy from Chirco Automotive in Tucson! read more

$1700 mistake! Don't go here if you can help it. I had my beautiful pink and white (with matching interior) 1970 beetle towed to Chirco to learn that I needed a new transmission. The goons in the garage quoted me $1000, and it ended up costing more because the larger sized tranny they used to replace my old one needed a longer choke, but instead of properly installing a longer choke they jimmied the short one by attaching a length of wire and welding it with two bolts on both ends to make it work. So, they had to keep my beetle a few days longer to do perform this "FIX". THEN, I had given the goons a short list of small items I needed: install a new horn, fix windshield wiper relay, put a pin in a door hinge, and then pin the front door panels to the door frame because they were loose on the bottom. The goons in the garage decided that because my panels were crumbling they couldn't pin anything, so what did they do? They drilled four screws right through my beautiful matching upholstery on each door to make the panels stay on the door frame! Incredible! The owner did not even apologize for his goon's mistake, and asked me with much hesitation how I wanted to be compensated for the damage. I assumed that new upholstery would have sufficed, but the owner only offered that he would pay a third party to remove the screws and try to pull the upholstery tighter around the panels, but he would NOT pay for new upholstery. They took my money without even batting an eye. I will NEVER go back, and I will advise everyone to stay away unless you want to pay a lot of money for goon labor and Chinese parts. read more
