the ambiance of the cafe is really nice. there's a view of the ocean right outside & the inside is a bit small but there's lots of bar stool seating! i ordered a lox bagel & a small mocha for $20. it was decent. the coffee has definitely woken me up. there was only one worker & she was kind of rude. my friend ordered a coffee & the worker asked her what size & my friend asked her if the different sizes were the same price & she says no but doesn't tell us the price difference so when my friend asked she said that all of the prices & options were on the board above. later on while we were eating a man walked in & she asked him if he wanted to get a bagel & he said he was unsure of what the options were & she was much nicer to him & read every option off of the board to him. it was odd. also they didn't have hot sauce which i was a little disappointed about. i would come back simply because of the nice location but otherwise it was a pretty mediocre experience. read more

Tri tip on a Saturday! Each weekend Chit Chat at the Pier runs a smoked tri tip sandwich special and I am a big fan! The meat is so tender and cooked to medium-rare perfection. The soft & toasty roll is also the perfect platform for said meat + arugula, sauce, red onions, a little bit of magic & cheese. The staff here is always friendly and the owners Ginger & Brandon are often around and are extremely kind neighbors. This is a great little community space and I always look forward to my next visit. It really is a small cafe right on the pier! If you're into walking by the ocean, fishing, or craving a bite by the sea, this is your stop! They have some instant food for sale if you want a cheaper option but their food that they make is pretty good. They only have a few people working at this location, but they are quick and friendly with great suggestions. I got their tri tip sandwich and I loved the layers of meat mixed with the arugula. It was a good balance and bite! The perfect accompaniment to a day of fishing. I was recommended their black and white coffee which is a mocha with dark chocolate and white chocolate mixed in. Perfect for a sweet tooth person like me! Inside, they have a small seating area for about 10-15 people in total. But you can always get your food to go and enjoy it outside. While this is their pier location, they have another full restaurant. Anyways, make it a plan to visit if you're going on a hike around Pacifica! read more

This is my first review! I love the Chit Chat on the pier! I've been coming here for years and thought they deserve some props. The employees are always nice. Food is great. Had the clam chowder and a tri tip sandwich today. Both very excellent! Not sure why that guy complained about the music. I really like that they let the employees control it because you always hear something new. Plus they seem happy so that's good I guess. I guess some people only like what they listen to. The new owners are super nice and everyone always remembers my drink (double shot 20oz white mocha with almond milk - my cheat day treat lol.) I always stop by after my Sunday hike. First time here and it was a wonderful experience. The views from Chit Chat are unbeatable and the service is wonderful. As a silly out of towner, I didn't realize where the door was since the doors were closed and there was sign pointing out onto the pier. The nice guy grilling out front very nicely answered my question and didn't make me feel bad about it (the door was literally five steps away from him). The mango smoothie I had hit the spot and I was lucky enough to snag a tri tip sandwich. Unlike other tri tips where the meat is in two thick slices that are impossible to chew through, this was a load of thin slices with onions that perfectly complemented it. Everyone there was also so nice! You can tell chit chat is a staple of the area because of the way staff seemed to know a lot of the people that walked in. But I also appreciated that they weren't rude to out of towners like me as some places can be in smaller towns. read more

What a little neighborhood treasure! Right at the entry to the public Fishing Pier ! During Crab season this place is popping! The people who work here seem really nice & welcoming! No "locals only" vibe at all ! The prices are extremely "friendly" as well . The Hot Chocolate they make is better than most "fancy" cafes . The croissants and other baked goods are from Mezzetis , a local patisserie with a cult following. The Chit-Chat offers a full menu of most of the usual deli sandwiches, including all day breakfast! I love this little cafe on the beach. I lived here for 15 years and always hit the spot on my visits. It's a small usually not crowded on weekdays so only 1 staff member. They have always been nice and have good coffees. It's a spot I hope Pacifica never loses. There is nothing better than grabbing a coffee and walking down the beach. People around here are always friendly and the beach walk takes down a path with several endangered species. During migration times of birds the beach fills up with many different breeds to watch as they eat and rest on the migration. When the whales are migrating it is common to see them playing in the water at a cove at the far end of the beach. It's just a beautiful little spot not too crowded and full of nature! read more

Relatively basic place right on the shore end of the pier. Clam chowder is only on weekends. But on rainy, windy or any day with rough weather but you still want to go out on the pier, this is a great place to warm up & rest a bit after and have some coffee , tea or hot chocolate. read more

Nice small town cafe with a big City aura. I love the cafes in SF. But sometimes I just need to get away from The City and go back to my hometown (since '68). Things have changed alot. The Seaview theater is now a Walgreens. Round Table Pizza is now a Starbucks. Ed Cordero Chevrolet dealership is now a 24 Hour Fitness. Bank of America is now Kams Chinese Restaurant. The new Green Enchilada was originally the Manor Room Pizza (where I worked in 1979-82) and so much more. All those changes are cool but what I really love is Chit-Chat. I will drive from SF past a dozen cafes only to end up here. Yeah, looking forward to being able to hang out inside once this damn pandemic ends. read more

Pacifica is the place my mom loves the most. I took her while the waves were so high. We have never eaten at this cafe. It is a small cafe off the road before going out to the pier. They sell food...coffee...bagels and bagel sandwiches...soup...clam chowder and snacks like chips and candy. My mom and I shared a pulled pork sandwich and a bowl of clam chowder. The food was just ok. The bread roll was crispy how I love it...but the meat was nothing to brag about. The clam chowder was for sure watered down. I make clam chowder a lot and this tasted like Campbell's in a can. There certainly was not much clam flavor nor chunks of clam. The staff was so friendly and helpful...wonderful people. There is a sign that they have great coffee...but I never tried that. I brought water. They have seats inside the restaurant to sit and watch the waves. The other food could be good...I cannot say...I just was not like wow...I would love to eat here again. If you are at the pier at Pacifica looking for some coffee...hot chocolate or a snack this place might be for you. read more

This is probably one of the best location for a coffee shop. For one thing, you can't beat the view. Whether it's a nice sunny day, or watching the waves crashing the shores on a stormy day, you will certainly have a good vantage point on all the actions. Came here to do the latter on a lazy Monday afternoon to watch the huge waves and the sunset. Weather is cold, windy and wet and a perfect day for a hot coffee or a chocolate...or two. Their medium size coffee is a pretty decent size and it cost under two bucks; $1.75 to be exact. Service is fast, friendly and efficient, and the coffee is good and strong....just like I like it. But this is just not a coffee shop since they also serve Clam Chowder and BBQ among other good things. And while waiting, you can Chit Chat all you want. read more

Was in Pacifica this past Labor Day and after hiking around Mussel Rock beach area we were hungry and I knew where to go. You place your "pier food" order inside. At that same time grab some warm or cold drinks and snacks. Bring your receipt to one of the outside crew at the BBQ and they put your order on then. I ordered a veggie burger. In all honesty I have never had one this decent!! It didn't taste like cardboard! It had corn and made with black bean and other plant based ingredients. Kinda had a Chipotle flavor. I liked it. Once it was done your able to add tomatoes and/or red onions. I went with the red onions. Asked for mustard and mayo, I was given packets. Oh they lightly grilled the bun also. I would get it again if I knew it would be same kind of patty. I also would like to give their grilled chicken sammy a try! Looked yummy! Hubby got a cheeseburger well done and hot link. Both buns were lightly toasted. He didn't add anything to his burger except mayo. I took a bite. Typical & simple. He enjoyed them. There was limited outdoor seating. Great for people watching. ONE OF THE WORST PLACES EVER(ESPECIALLY DURING THESE TIMES) Please allow me to explain.... There was a girl, blonde hair extremely messy and unorganized, wearing pajamas with a mask on but below her mouth, wearing one glove. 1st. She takes my order and forgets it all after I pay for it, has to ask me all over again what I ordered. 2nd. She makes my kids turkey sandwich touching all the meat, bread and cheese with her bare hands, going back a forth between touching her face, hair, pulling up her pajamas and then back to the food.... Disgusting and so off the charts off poor hygiene. Especially with the covid19 as bad as it is, this is unnecaptable. I asked the other girl with blue hair who was extremely helpful and understanding to please remake my kids sandwich, I explained to her why and she did remade it with gloves, and ZERO CROSS CONTAMINATION AT ALL. I can't understand how to people working in the same place could be on different ends of the spectrum.. I am a Director of Food Operations / Food safety Operator for a large tech company and I would either retrain this employee or term her, because obviously there is some sort of training happening here due to the girl with blue hair.... Whoever owns this place i say to you. Change this operation or i will call the health department, covid19 is no joke and this minimal supervision is obvious based off of this one employee..... I would have to say that this little place is in the best location possible but one question is bothering me why can't they remodel or rebuild that little restaurant that is located right in the beginning of the pier to make a better place. Honestly if this place would be remodeled or rebuilder to a restaurant, they would have tremendous amount of customers. Anyways the only thing that I have ever got here is the coffee because when you at the pier you just want to have your coffee and enjoy the view. I have been on that pier dozen of times and I have never missed a chance to go to this little place for some donuts and coffee. If you are worrying about the parking, I would not because there is plenty of it along the beach and it's pretty safe. I really love this place. Every time I go to San Francisco to get someone from the airport I always drive out early to get to the Pacifica chit chat cafe to just enjoy the view, coffee and that fresh breeze that comes from the restaurant. It's a small mom and pop run cafe that has everything from coffee to fishing supplies. It sits at the entrance of the Pacifica Municipal Pier so you can't miss it. You can grab a coffee, bagel, and donut to enjoy the ocean breeze. There are tables and bar stools to sit on inside but no outdoor seating. The restrooms are actually on the outside of the building and open to the public. You can also buy fishing and crabbing supplies here such as frozen bait (squid, mackerel, sardines, ghost shrimp, etc.) and even a full crabbing starter kit (crab pot with rope, bait cage, and measuring guide). There is street parking in the neighborhood and adjacent parking lots across the street but please read any posted signs restricting parking.
