Chit Chat cafe is a great reflection of Pacifica. It's a bit run-down, very chilled, manages to surprise in many ways and it's on a great location. Chit-Chat cafe on the Pier is my go-to-place for to-go Coffee. When I work from home, I like to take a break and walk to the Pier and get a coffee. It's a nice walk down there and along the beach. Looking at the ocean never gets old. The view onto the ocean and both sides of the coast is stunning from the Chit-Chat cafe. This alone gives this place two stars. The other two stars come from the authentic feel this place has. It's a mix between a beach-cafe and a place where fishermen get their hot ramen bowl to warm up from cold weather. read more

Awesome place to stop after a walk on the beach/pier in Pacifica and friendly staff! Whether you're looking for a nice scenic place to get a beverage after a walk/hike or trying to warm up when it's cold outside, this is the place to be. It's a pretty casual place to hop and out and less about the aesthetic. I got an iced mocha which was nice--caffeinated and chocolate-y. The way I like it. Staff is also friendly--they asked us whether our drinks were made ok. Though it's not a coffee place I could go specifically for the coffee, it is still one I would stop by each time I'm in the area. read more

Went there for morning coffee yesterday (8/26/23), place was extremely dirty. There were probably 100 flies in the back area. I watched the gentleman make my coffee, he used his hands to brush the extra coffee off from the device that you stick in the espresso machine instead of a brush. Bad experience. read more

This cafe is right on the beach at Pacifica. Super nice place to hike or walk. The cafe had nice servers and they were pretty prompt. It seems like the locals really know eachother well there. I love that they have a bbq outside so you can order a hamburger, hotdog, hotlink etc. I got the hotlink and I added some condiments on it. Perfect little snack for a walk on the beach. read more

A location with a view of the Pacific Ocean...especially during storms? On a rainy day paid this coffee shop a visit! Note this location differs than the other with the same name. The place is small but there are windows so you still have a view of the ocean. I'd say there are a dozen seats inside with a couple of outdoor seats facing Beach Blvd. The Pacifica Pier is right behind the cafe. Lots of residential parking around the area. They have the standard fares (snacks, warm drinks, knick-knacks, etc.) and prices are reasonable. read more

We were dubious about going to the Chit Chat today - after the June 20th review. I think they changed for the better. I felt safe and everything was clean and organized. When I peeked in the window, the gal behind the counter was applying gel. They only allow three people in at a time - and she asked someone to step out and wait, so the 3-person deal is enforced. The cook/server was well groomed and real pleasant - wore a mask. No more doping up the coffee yourself, she did it all. It was great to be there - the sandwich and coffee were perfect. And all the ionized air from the ocean was free. Also the views of raging waves! read more

I have to say, this place is downright freaking pleasant. The customers here are a mix of kama'aina Pacifica and coast-loving transplants, and people like me; stumbling upon this place when I had a few hours to kill and it was too busy at Mazzetti's Bakery (dang, I really wanted a cannoli). The old guys drink their coffee and chat with each other, the other folk sit on their computers, some even (gasp!) read an actual book. The chairs are just comfortable enough so you can get some work done, but not comfortable enough to over-stay your welcome. Their menu looks good; a few sandwiches, pastries, etc., but I have only eaten the sliced loafs (lemon bread, chocolate bread) and have had bagels and cream cheese. However, if I am ever here around noon, I will probably order from their sandwich board. Five out of five stars. read more

You can't really go wrong with the ambiance at a location like this unless you try to fancypants your customers, which, for the record, they don't. A sleepy little town on the Northern California coast needs the kind of place that you can hold up as a mirror -- the type of place that's capable of reflecting the qualities of the town it represents. The Chit Chat Cafe does just that for Pacifica. Two aging hippies run the joint. They take your order, make the food, make the coffee, serve it all up & don't shy away from the Chit Chat (as advertised). Squeaky red barstools line the perimeter of the place, & there is a small countertop that runs along the wall, giving customers a nice view of the crashing surf outside. Frequented by fishermen on the pier, this place is a hidden gem if there ever were one. The food is simple & hits the spot. Their coffees aren't too fancy, but they're enough. And the peach pie is the Real Deal. Chit Chat at the Pier is definitely one of the best little cafes I've ever accidentally stumbled upon. I'll make a special effort to come back next time I need to get out of the city for a few hours. read more

I think a lot of people confuse the two chit chat cafe's, this one is on the Pier. The service here is always always so much nicer than the one up on Manor, believe me, the workers have been here since forever and always have been polite to customers. I think a local homeless man is offered to help move the BBQ grill outside from time to time for either food or maybe even a lil cash, not sure but I'm happy to see them help in one small way or another. We come here very often, with the pup since they allow it here, and she loves the treats. We always order coffee with our usual egg, bacon, cheese, cream cheese and avocado bagel. And when we are feeling extra bad, we get a super irresistible chocolate old fashioned donut (delivered fresh from Mazzettis). Stop by for a hazelnut latte to-go and head down the Pier or walk down the seawall paths on a nice day. Or sit inside during the high tide and possibly catch someone get drenched by a huge wave. My one missing star? This place desperately needs a facelift on the inside. I am here so often that I'm almost tempted to offer a free paint job. read more

The 15 year old barista made an awful chai tea latte. I suggest you stick to simple drinks like water or plain black coffee. It was a freezing, rainy day but they had a BBQ grill going on outside. There was some confusion on where you order, etc.. and the two people working the grill couldn't figure out who was flipping and who was put the next order on the grill. It all got worked out but service was slow. The brats were really good and I loved that they had grilled veggies as a side. No sure if they always have plastic table and chair set up outside or if it was just for the BBQ but it was nice to stick outside (in the rain) with our dog (who hid inside my jacket). Despite the no dog signs, plenty of dogs were running along the beach. Not mine, she was staying warm inside my jacket. Smart girl. read more

*Grill review only!* I guess they only grill on the weekends, according to other reviews, but it's the only thing I've tried! When you're taking a walk by the beach it's hard to ignore the heavenly smells of charred meat. You pay inside and take your ticket outside to the grill guy. In 5-10 minutes your name will be called your food presented. There is a mix of condiments alongside the grill that you can compliment your food with. I rarely ever have grilled meat so I nice hot dog on a sunny day is a welcome treat. It totally destroys any calories I've burnt from exercising though. read more

I thought the prices here would be exorbitant since it's the only place on the pier. However, I was pleasantly surprised. I got nachos with chili cheese for $4.50. The portions were definitely generous - though the chili could use more meat. Don't expect gourmet food here. I watched the server microwaved my nacho cheese. However, she did throw out a container of cheese that she thought wasn't good anymore so yay for quality control. Accepts credit cards. read more

Despite having a natural monopoly for all pier goers, their prices are only a little higher than usual, unless your usual coffee place is Philz. They also sell bait should you have forgotten yours or you're too scared to ask fellow fishermen. It's not the best of the independent coffeehouses in town, but it hovers above Sharp Park beach, with Mori Point in the distance, at the start of the Pacifica pier and that's a pretty cool location to pick up a cup of java. (For you classic movie fans out there, Mori Point was the setting for the famous scene in "Harold and Maude" where Harold seems to be plunging over a cliff into the ocean in his Jaguar/hearse after Maude's death.) I haven't dined there and don't know the food menu too well, but they've added an outdoor gas grill in case you want something picnic-y instead of the usual indoor offerings. It doesn't look much more complicated than your basic burgers and dogs outside, but seeing a Dad and son at a picnic table recently enjoying one of each gave me a nostalgic déjà vu moment. I used to play a lot of baseball as a kid and my Dad would usually spring for a snack at the concession stand after games. Seeing those two eating a little uncomplicated American-backyard-picnic-fare while discussing the finer points of the Giants' performance this season just brought me back! read more

Good place to stop by on your morning walk near the beach. It's not a place you can really sit down, not a lot of comfortable seating. I usually take my tea to-go. The ladies that work there are all nice, but only one seems to know what she's doing. The other are blown away by "iced-tea" and usually try to put hot water in a plastic cup...STOP! That cup will melt in your hand and give you a wicked burn. Pastries are meh. Tea is good. Service is nice, but a little confused ;) read more

This place is located right at the beginning of the pier in Pacifica and the closest cafe over there, so it's a convenient place to go to if you want to grab something to drink and eat. They have loaves of cake and coffee. I didn't get to order their carrot and walnut bread even though it looked delicious, but I did order a hot chocolate. I didn't expect the hot chocolate to be fancy and it really wasn't, but it was decent. It had whip cream on top. It was expensive even though I ordered a small size, which reminds me -- heads up, minimum purchase of $5 if you're using a credit card. read more

I think the Chit Chat Cafe is a pretty interesting place. First of all, it is a great location at the base of the Pacifica pier, which on a nice day is a really great location. Unless nice day when it's cold and foggy, it's also great location because you can dock inside and grab a hot coffee or hot chocolate. Then, once you warm up a bit you can walk along the beach or out on the pier. Now, the decor isn't that amazing, but that's not really what you are coming here for. It does however, have this sort of antique ambience. The drinks and food are pretty good. My wife and I both had a chai latte, and they were delicious and perfect for the seaside setting. We also had a small piece of crumb cake, which seemed a little offputting at the beginning because the crumb topping was extremely densely packed. However, once we dug into it we found it to be delectably crumbly and tasty. Overall, this is a pretty great place in a great location, and is worth stopping by. read more

The service is usually some high school student lacking in service experience and skill - often distracted on the phone or chatting with friends. Check your order, if it's large. But they are friendlyish, if/when they focus on you. Food is ok. I like the Barbeque/Grill they have on weekends. Hot food near the cold ocean is a great boon. This review is only for my one purchase: a large coffee, French Dark Roast. This little place is located conveniently adjacent to the Pacifica Pier, so it's an ideal place to gather large groups before a picturesque hike. It's a cool little place with windows facing the crashing waves. Full offering of quality fast food breakfast items. As to the Dark French Roast coffee is was mighty good: both dark and deeply smoky. BBQ: they have a large gas powered BBQ grill right in front of the building; and my friend said they grill up a very good spicy hot sausage. Served with a hot dog bun and your choice of topping. Yes, this is right on the Pacifica Pier. Must have been an off day for coffee yesterday. Weak bitter stuff for sure, certainly was not fresh brewed. I suppose you have to order specialty coffees to get the fresh ground stuff. My bagel with bacon was nicely toasted and buttered, rather skimpy on the cream cheese though. Ok stop before fishing or crabbing, but I will bring my own coffee next time. read more
