This place is definitely a hidden gem. The plaza itself isn't the best looking place so I would have never thought a coffee shop as cute as this would exist there. I'm not a local here but find myself in the area a lot for work. I decided to take a 10 minute because I needed some caffeine to power through the rest of the day and from the moment I walked through the door I absolutely fell in love with the cafe! For my first time here I ordered the white mocha. It was not as creamy as I thought it would be and felt more on the lighter side. The coffee they used tasted quite interesting. To me it has a slight blueberry taste to it but I enjoyed it. I also tried the strawberry short cake scone and it was on point! Although they could have done a better job with evening out the icing. I sort of had a small blob of the strawberry icing on my scone. My friend ordered the honey lavender scone and it was fantastic. Will be returning next time I'm in need of coffee and desserts. We tried this place out this past weekend and I'm glad we did! This is a family owned shop and they are wonderful people!! I must say the espresso was one of the best I've ever had, not burnt like some of the other shops, nice smooth taste. They sell Crepes on Saturdays, so we ordered the banana Nutella and it was made to perfection, the caramel drizzle was an added bonus. They have fresh baked pastries at a truly fair price. Breakfast pizza is awesome!! Let them know Daniel advised you to order the over medium eggs, since they originally make this with scrambled eggs. Either way is delicious! I went to this little "hole in the wall" and couldn't be more impressed! When I walked in it was like being welcomed home. The ambience is so comfortable I could just sit and talk to the servers ( who are SO inviting and friendly!) and other patrons. The decor and seating is beautiful! Comfortable for one person, a couple of friends-and big enough for small groups and meetings. The coffee and tea is expertly made and VERY tasty! (One of the barista's was professionally trained; as I said they are very friendly!) The selection of pastries is a good variety. The scones, bagels, banana bread and other treats are very good, but the cinnamon rolls are SO DELICIOUS!! The prices are very reasonable for such quality! Been wanting to try this spot out for a while. Today I came in during my oil change. And I'm assuming Tiffany, the owner, noticed me and my oil change papers. She explain the pastry theme to me and said I'm welcomed to sit and wait for my oil change or try any lattes and pastries. She was very sweet and always had a smile. I just had to try something. Amazing food, great service. They all are running around doing all they can. The food is delicious! They allow me to substitute vegan cheese since I am lactose with the chorizo pizza and the bbq chicken pizza. It was delicious and I didn't taste a difference. The salsa they give with the chorizo pizza you will be thinking about for days!! I highly recommend. The bakery and food items at this Cafe are delicious. I usually order their breakfast egg pizzas which can be ordered with your choice of toppings. The pizza dough is soft and it is cooked perfectly. I also ordered their egg breakfast bowl with chicken added. It is a hearty bowl with cooked spinach, tomato, mushrooms, and cheese. The iced lattes are so good with a hint of lavender. I travel from Stockton to Manteca just for the breakfast and coffee at this cafe. read more

I'm usually a supporter of local businesses, so it pains me to write this poor review... but Chit Chat really came up short on my experience with them. First time customer, I came in, and the place is quiet and plush comfortable rather than the typical loud music and wooden everything. I really liked that, which is why they are getting 2 stars from me rather than one. I ordered a blueberry lemon scone and a pralines and cream latte, and that's where the problems started. The front girl was... okay. She was kind of blah. Not very friendly, but not rude either, just... blah. Like she wasn't really there at all, and somewhat robotic. The service was quick enough, but... man, the scone and coffee were just bad. Really bad. The scone was undercooked, very doughy and tasted more like a badly cooked KFC biscuit than a scone. The filling was okay, but the frosting on top was VERY sweet, almost tooth-hurting sweet. I took a few bites, but I threw the rest out, and a few minutes after eating it my stomach got upset. Maybe I just got a bad one, but... yuck. The pralines and cream latte, however, was undrinkable. Truly awful. The milk was badly scalded, the espresso was weak and bitter, and the barista didn't even add the pralines and cream in it... or if there was any, I didn't taste it. I took a few sips, but it was just awful and I ended up throwing it out as well. Considering how expensive it was, you would think their quality would be higher. Like I said... it made my stomach upset, it was so bad. I would have taken the order back and either gotten a refund or the order remade, but I had gotten the order to go and I was a few miles down the road before I'd realized how bad it was. I'm reading a lot of positive reviews for the place, so I can only assume I was just there on an off-day, but... wow, I've never been in a bakery/cafe where I threw their products out right after purchasing them. I... MIGHT... try it again just because of all the positive reviews here, but it won't be any time soon. Very disappointing. read more

First let me say this place knows great customer service! Everyone was polite and professional. The inside looks cute and cozy I love the atmosphere! I've been hearing about this place and I was in the area and decided to check it out and I am definitely satisfied. I ordered a sugar free coffee, bacon breakfast sandwich and one cookie. They staff kept me updated on my order and she even gave me a free treat because it took a little longer than expected for my sandwich. It didn't take long at all to me. Everything tastes really good, fresh and good quality. I enjoyed my experience there and I will for sure be back to dine in. This time I had did a to go order but I will for sure come back and enjoy the inside of the cafe this place is definitely on my list of favorite places to visit in the Manteca area. OMG!! Just spent $20+ dollars at this CAFE consuming LARGE beverages and they have NO RESTROOMS .....SERIOUSLY!!!! How could you open a business that serves FOOD and BEVERAGES and NOT have a RESTROOM??? You come drink CAFFEINE and you need to go to the restroom. Much less, if I need to wash my hands before or after eating!! NEVER in my LIFE have I been to a SIT DOWN cafe coffee tea shop that sell food that did NOT have a restroom. Then the girl working the cash Register tells me to go to the MEXICAN restaurant next door at 0800am. Okay, do you own the restaurant.....NO !! Then, I go next door and guess what the Mexican restaurant doesn't even open until 0900am ! Last the little white and black sign posted that actually says "NO PUBLIC RESTROOM" NEEDS TO BE MOVE TO THE CENTER of the front glass door of entry for ALL to see BEFORE entering the CAFE not hidden from plain sight!!! If you're going here for breakfast, don't waste your time because they took all of the breakfast items except for bagels off of the menu. Very cute little cafe. They have a theme every week and they are very personable. Make you feel right at home and since it was my first time there they made sure to give me the run down. We ordered and iced coffee and matcha latte. Both were excellent. My sister also ordered a chicken sandwich they have which I can't remember the name of but it was delicious. We've been to Chit chat a couple times. Great service, good food/beverages, nice location and very pretty and cozy decor. I don't do coffee, so when I go I usually order the bumble bee hot tea. It's a lavender infused tea with other yummy ingredients. They have a ton of pastries to choose from. Large selection of scones. My very very favorite is the lavender scone. I'm a bit of a lavender snob.. lavender everythang!!! Give em a try. You won't regret it read more

Very disappointed by customer service. We ordered "to go" and people that came in after us and ordered for here got their crepes about 10 minutes before us. We were excited to try this place for the first time but apparently if you're not a regular you're not a priority. We got the strawberry crepe and plain crepe. They asked if we wanted toppings but didn't put it on the crepe only in little containers. Seems like they should have also asked if we wanted toppings on the side. May or may not try again. There's one misinformation post that I felt the need to address here. I'm a long time Chit-Chat customer and first came to know the restaurant from seeing a friend post about it on Instagram. I've gone here and pretty much had a stellar experience every time. Sure there are days where food takes longer but you should EXPECT this from places that are popular especially on the weekends. I've been going here a while and every meal i've had as been stellar. I know if I had a less than sub par experience with one of their food items the owner Tiffany or Husband there would gladly have someone remake it for me. That really is on you as the customer, if you don't like something mention it first before coming on here to write about it. Personally, prior to visiting for the first time I had no connection with ownership here at the restaurant. After going a few times and getting to know the staff/owners, I really began to have a sense of the establishment as a whole. To say this place doesn't care about the guidelines with regards to people wearing masks is a very disingenuous comment to make. When I went everyone when they were ordering were masked up and when they got to their tables "while eating" took off their masks including myself each time i've went in only to mask again when leaving. Chit-Chat regularly sanitizes the place and has hand sanitizer at the ready. All of the tables had dividers between them that I actually kind of liked. It gave more of a walled-off private conversation feel when I met up with someone. I truly felt that my conversations were in fact private. I do agree with one other commenter, I wish they had a bathroom but unfortunately for the location it couldn't be done at this time. Who's to say they can't move in the future ? I hardly think that is a reason to get on them about it. Plan your day accordingly before coming to the restaurant and its not that big of a deal. On to the food, I am a big fan of the pizzas. I particularly get the Ham breakfast pizza. Adrian, who is one of the owners, got me to try pepper plant sauce on top of the pizza and it has now become my new addiction. The coffee is great too. I usually get the lavender coffee but sometimes will go with a vanilla latte. The scones have been fantastic every time i've been there and the cinnamon rolls are to die for. Seriously, Tiffany or whomever bakes regularly there is an expert. I enjoy the themed baking items too as some days there will be themes for different things. There was a star wars theme one day I was there. Oh and Saturday Crepes you absolutely cannot go wrong with, they are fantastic. Long story short, No one told me to write this review. I felt the need to because I enjoy this place and I want it to stay around. Constructive feedback is always good for things that can be improved on and I always know they've got my back every time that I have a meal here. read more

Fantastic place! I had some friends come from Modesto today to meet me there. I had a fantastic everything bagel with dill cream cheese and salmon, amazing. White chocolate mocha is my go to drink at any coffee place and it's one of the best I've had. My friends had the breakfast pizzas and everyone loved them! I'm also told their caramel macchiatos were beyond good. Only issue I had was that we came around 9 and got a table, I wanted to get there early since I know they get busy. After about an hour someone came and asked us if we wouldn't mind sharing our table as we only had 5 people, we tell the staff member, of course no problem. So 2 women come and sit down. And then a 3rd comes in. Ok no problem. Then the woman proceeds to tell me thank you for sharing but they have like 8 more people coming soon. Ummmm ok? I'm not sure how that's my problem. We're paying customers who thought ahead and planned accordingly to get a table big enough for all 5 of us. But we're still eating and drinking. We got done eating and are chatting with our coffees. One of the owners comes over to see if we're planning on leaving soon at which point I said yes but I'm also going to be ordering a few more things, I wanted to take some baked goods home. So a few minutes pass and I get up to order. The owner speaks to me at the counter and apologized for the push to leave. I understand they get busy and this happens. However I don't understand why this large group of women (the others has shown up during this time) were allowed to stand crowded around us and the women on the other side of the table and one across a small main aisle and completely disrupt our meals. The large group of women should really have planned their time there better, it's obvious a place like this amazing cafe would likely get insanely busy on a Saturday morning and knows this is a small cafe with limited seating. I don't mind the owner simply asking if we were almost done but I very much did mind the ladies being allowed to cram and crowd 3 other tables and a main aisle simply because of their poor planning. Definitely not ok. As a manager I would have politely explained to them that the other 3 tables they were crowding had been there first and were also paying customers and that I would kindly need them to stand some where else out of the way and wait until they had available space for an unplanned large party. For the food, cafe decor and atmosphere and the customer service in general it's a definite 5 stars. I would have normally taken more stores for this group of rude women to stand around and bother other customers but the owner was so nice about it I only took one star off. Great business. read more
