    Shrimp Ceviche

First off, the ambience was great! Clean and modern furniture as well as light fixtures. Yes the music was a little loud, but it wasn't terrible. The food was DELICIOUS! I wasn't brave enough to try the chivo, but I had the Shrimp Ceviche which was really fresh and light. It was a classic with onions, tomatoes, shrimp and the freshest avocado! And I cannot forget the freshest tostones ever! Fried to a golden crisp and did I mention fresh? My husband ordered the chicharron de pollo (fried chicken chunks) that were well seasoned and crispy. He also got the tostones. I ordered a classic mojito which tasted great, although the second one didn't taste as good so small inconsistency there, but they were reasonably priced too. Service to begin with was slow, but once we ordered our food, it came out in a timely manner.

Damn it I'm doing it. 5 stars. Was going to go 4 stars because the service was kinda slow but once the food came, daaaayyyyyuuuuummmm, it really did knock our socks off!! The surf and turf wasn't on the menu, and the steak was grilled to perfection. The chivo osso bucco was AMAZING as well. The flan for dessert is home made and delicious. Definitely coming back for breakfast or lunch or both. The vibe was cool, good music, clean place, boho chic yet modern tables and chairs. This is now my favorite Dominican restaurant. Check them out. And someone please claim this place and give it some notoriety.

Craving Dominican food or wanted to try it - this is an outstanding restaurant. Located in a small shopping plaza with ample parking. The interior of the restaurant is beautifully appointed with comfortable seating. Service was very welcoming and polite. I was missing Mangú- the Dominican Republic's national breakfast- made up of mashed plantains, fried ham & cheese, eggs. The Mangú was so so delicious! My parents lived in the Dominican Republic many years ago and the taste brought back fond memories. The trio of empanadas (beef. chicken , and cheese ) were perfectly fried with a thin crust. Cafe con Leche was perfectly prepared. Definitely give them a visit!

Sweet little spot, the atmosphere was amazing and welcoming. The food very good. I recommend the Sancocho. And the rice and beans, the beans brought me back to when my mom would make it with the pumpkin. So good! Nice friendly ambiance. Definitely worth a return visit.

I normally don't like Mofongo but the ones here are delicious! Everyone here from servers to bartenders are all very nice and friendly. However, ordering around the time when all the music and crowd is going to be a long wait. The drinks are made strong so no complaints here. The chocolate cake: brownie was delicious. Not too sweet. We had to rely on the host to bring napkins, straws, plates, etc because Paola was no where to be found and placing an order was very frustrating. Upon paying our bill I saw an added $82 worth of food we did not order. When I mentioned it, she tried to convince me 3 times that we had ordered the food which was not true. I spoke with manager and she had told him it was a mistake, however she was adamant with me that we had ordered the additional food! It's dangerous when a company has unethical and shady employees, and this can harm the reputation of their business! Double check your bill if you patronize this restaurant. Our waitress Paola knew exactly what she was doing and it wasn't a mistake! She thought she would get away with adding things to our bill that we didn't order. It's very disappointing to experience her tactics. Customers please Beware!

Back when they used to focus only on their food. Last visit, my Cuban sandwich was absolutely gross, the bread was rock hard, the pernil was super dry, and the cheese wasn't even melted. I let that one slide and chalked it up to the kitchen having a bad day. However, yesterday was even more horrendous experience. I've been Puerto Rican my entire life lol. Almost 50 years of existence. I have never in my life encountered a more soggy greasy and squishy Chicharron as I did yesterday. It was an absolute abomination. A disgrace to all of Latin heritage. The little bits of meat were rock hard and burnt to a crisp. What's supposed to be crispy skin, was completely soggy and soft. As if it had never been cooked at all. I have no idea how you could get the meat burnt to a crisp and the skin completely soggy on pork belly. I'm completely appalled the fact that it was even given to me. Whoever was in the kitchen should have known better than to serve that slop. It's an embarrassment to the establishment to even have put that into the window to be given to a customer. There's absolutely no way the person in the kitchen knows what they're doing with Latin food if that was served. It deeply saddened me to say I'll never go back to this place again. Not even for a beer. Seeing as how the prices have skyrocketed and the food quality has gone into the toilet I'll pass. Thank you.(pictures taken before the Chicharron was given to the dogs as a snack, because even bad food doesn't go to waste in my house)

Let me start my review by saying the food was really good and worthy of a 5 star rating on its own…read more BUT...my experience with this resturant is a classic example of how service can just take away from the food quality. My work colleagues and I were greeted by a friendly host and sat at a table. But everything from service went down hill from there when our actual table server arrived. We were immediately greeted with "You ready", with a frowned face. We asked for water with lemon (never received) and was later served water from a pitcher (without lemons) only later to see an adjacent table served water from a picture with lemon and orange slices. Didn't make much of that. But when our waiter returned to take our order the second time, again with the same "you ready" frown faced I asked for help with the menu. I could hear her sigh so loud I wanted not to believe the feeling that we were bothering her in some way; and there was maybe only a quarter of the tables with customers. After placing our orders I asked my colleagues if they were getting the same vibe as I was from her and they both felt the same way. From my seating angle I could see this young lady server when she approached the front bar/seating area of the restaurant; which appeared to be where the other waiters all gathered when waiting. But I noticed her smiling and engaging in friendly conversation with two customers sitting at the bar. I noticed this difference from how she treated us vs these other guest throughout the entire time. With them she was smiling, engaging and not in any flirtatious way, but seemingly just being nice....being a good waiter. Clearly she was choosing NOT to be nice to us, and this bothered me internally because I did not know why. Our friendly greeter from when we arrived was seen serving another table and whose behavior was consistently friendly with everyone. So why the difference with our waiter I kept asking myself. I still gave a generous tip despite this service. It was important to me to do so, but I probably won't be back here, and this would have been a nice place to go back to with mi amor.

I will say they could use a little better lighting, as the place does look a bit dated, but maybe that's the look they're going for. I've heard this restaurant has been here for about two years, and somehow we didn't know about it until a few weeks ago. Onto the main dishes! I had the Vaca Frita with white rice, black beans, and maduros, and everything was packed with great flavor. My wife had the Birria Tacos, and she said they were excellent. Of course, I had to try the consomme and what a mistake... because now I'm hooked line and sinker. It was so packed with flavor that I even started dipping my Vaca Frita in it. This is definitely a hole-in-the-wall kind of place, and I mean that in the best possible way. Don't miss out on it! I've seen some people complaining about the gratuity already being included on the check. Stop whining and tip what you should. If you have a problem with tipping, don't go out to eat at a restaurant with waitress service. The additional tip option at the bottom of the receipt is simply there for those who want to leave the full 20% or more. If you don't feel they deserve anything extra, then leave it as is. We will definitely be coming back. The scary part is just how local and convenient this place is. Ha!

Staff was welcoming and I cozied right up at the bar to wait for my friend. I was immediately brought chips and salsa and a cold beer. We ended up sitting at a high top and our waitress suggested that I try either carne asada from the Mexican menu or Vaca Frita from the Cuban menu. I love me some carne asada but I was intrigued but this 'fried shredded beef' that was marinated in mole and cooked in a hot skillet until crispy. She suggested sweet plantains to go with it and white rice with beans which is traditional Cuban (instead of yellow rice). IT WAS FABULOUS! It was crispy on the outside and juicy. The mole was flavorful but not spicy and i appreciated that the meat was not dripping in sauce. My dinner date ordered chicken tamales which were seasoned in a Cuban style with yellow rice. She is used to Mexican tamales but said these really hit the spot! The only blemish on the nice was her second margarita which was the cucumber one which she didn't like at all. However, the first one she ordered (pictured) which was a different flavor was a show stopper.
