Came here when I went to the mall. We were a bit disappointed that they didn't offer eat in dining but we were able to eat at a bench. I had some ramen and my husband had some sushi. We got a lot of food and it was all amazing!! I got the blackened garlic ramen- very flavorful and full of toppings. The roast pork is superb. We tried all the buns and they were all delicious. All the sushi we ordered was fresh and savory. Servings are big enough to feel satisfied and we were all very happy to have eaten here. The servers are so helpful and quick to attend to our needs. My MIL asked for a lot of sugar and our server came back with a large handful of sugar packets and a little bowl for the empty wrappers- she was impressed just by that simple gesture. I've seen this restaurant in passing at the mall but never actually stopped to try them. I decided to get BBQ pork Bun, Stir Fry, and Boa and I am in love!! Nice new addition at Christiana Mall! It's about time! The service is extremely friendly and efficient. There are always people checking in on you and food comes out as soon as it is ready. The dumplings were very good. I prefer more soup in my soup dumplings but that's probably more about personal preference. My only gripe is about the soup broth. I got the shrimp wonton soup and the wontons and noodles were great. The broth was really flat. I wound up adding quite a bit to it. I was really surprised. This was my second visit here. I tried the gyudon entree with appetizers of spring rolls and crab tempura. The food was pretty good, I really loved the crab tempura the most! The egg in the gyudon was also cooked to perfection. My only issue was that I felt the gyudon dish was lacking a bit in flavor. I had to add a little bit of soy sauce to the rice and meat so it didn't taste as bland. I was disappointed compared to other gyudon dishes I've had in the past. read more

We frequently visit the area for shopping due to the nice variety in stores so we decided to give the place a try as it caught our attention. The restaurant looks like a nice little place from the outside, but as soon as we walked in, it made us feel as if we were in a different country. However, this place, Chiwa Bistro in Delaware at Christiana Mall, brought me back down to earth. Excited there is a place that offers Dim Sum in Newark!! We tried the shrimps dumpling (hagaw), Shumai, chickens feet, custard bun etc..it was delicious. Seems like the dishes are made in house minus the steamed buns that are probably store bought frozen and steamed, but still tasty. The dimsum is also steamed to order like in Hong Kong, so don't expect someone to be pushing around a cart. The food is delicious the price is pretty steep though compared to Chinatown. But if I'm ever craving dimsum and don't want to do the drive I will for sure come back. I would recommend getting the thai iced tea and beef noodle soup! Both were flavorful. I would not recommended wasting money on the fried rice, it was only meh... not worth the price. Service was great! The staff was attentative and really nice. We had some time to kill before an appointment at Costco tire, so found this place in the mall across the street. I deduct one star because even though they had an outside seating area, the area was closed. So was indoor dining. Take out is all they do right now. The menu of dim sum and ramen sounded so good, we decided to order and go eat in the car. Glad we did. The Ramen was OUTSTANDING. It was absolutely the best I have had since leaving the West Coast. I can't say enough. The broth and ingredients were perfectly prepared. We ate everything down to the last drop! It was packaged so that the broth and noodles were separated to keep them from getting mushy. Even though we were pretty much tailgating on the fly, it was pretty easy to slide everything into the broth container and mix up to eat. Overall, we liked the food. It wasn't spectacular. Their version of soup dumpling was a little lacking in soup inside the dumpling shell. My wife ordered a dumpling noodle soup and enjoyed it. I like to add chili oil to flavor it, but she likes a lighter flavor. For my sons, they were tried a stir fried udon noodle with shrimp and ate well. They did offer dim sum (a rarity in DE), but you order with the server. Prices are a little on the high end. Service was generally attentive. The decor was pleasing and the walls were lined with mini-posters of well known Hong Kong films. We also didn't try the sushi, but I wish they would stick with just noodles and dumplings since sushi restaurants have become too commonplace. read more

The filling was tasty the bun was fluffy with no real flavor but it wasn't bad. We also had soup dumplings. Those were excellent! I've never had those before either and I would absolutely go back just for those. I had chicken fried rice. It was very good. My husband had the shrimp teriyaki bento box and loved it.
