Such a cute restaurant and I loved the open kitchen concept. The small bites and plates were very tasty - highlights on the crudo, noodles under the steak, and crispy fish skin. Cocktails aren't super novel and service for the drinks were really slow. Overall, it was a good experience and a good date night / family spot.

We went to brunch for my birthday and all of the food was really good. The menu is made for sharing and the portions are small, which is nice for trying multiple things. However this makes the cost add up pretty quickly. The staff were friendly and knowledgeable and the ambiance of the restaurant was nice.

This has now become one of my favorite DC restaurants! The service received was great, the restaurant isn't too crowded and is nice for both casual and date nights. The food is absolutely delicious! My favorite item on the menu is the whole fried fish, but everything I've had has been wonderful. The hamachi is so fresh and flavorful. The pork belly is so tender and meaty! I will definitely come back time and time again to try new things and experience seasonal items.

The food is so delicious and happy hour rocks. Happy hour is in the bar area and on the patio. Good food and drink options. We loved the cauliflower and the ricotta appetizers.

We went for Mother's Day Brunch, and I expected the restaurant to be busy but it was not that busy. Despite that, our service was the main reason I am giving this restaurant 3 stars. It took a long time for us to be able to order, and the server was not warm or friendly. We ordered our mains (and there are not many options in the first place), and dishes were brought out one at a time and not very close in time. Between the first person's food and last person's food arriving, almost 10 minutes passed which really affected the pace and ability to enjoy the meal. The food itself was tasty and fresh, but overall felt like the experience was affected by the service.

I visited on a Saturday afternoon. It was really busy, but we were able to snag a seat at the bar. Although busy, service was speedy. We ordered oysters for our appetizer, and I had the salmon dish for my entree. I am an oyster fan through-and-through! I will get them if I see them on a menu. Chloe's oysters were fried and the presentation was pretty. See pic. The batter on the oysters had just the right crispy effect. They were still juicy and not fried too hard. A bed a slaw beneath the oyster added to the crunch effect. The seasoning was perfect -- would definitely get again. The salmon was tasty too! Snap peas and potatoes were included with the dish. I would get this again too! Visit for yourself. Cheers!

Update! Still love Chloe. Stopped by for dinner and had a great time. It's still beautiful space and great for dinner or just for drinks at the bar. Service was great as usual. Here is a breakdown on what we had and my thoughts: The grilled house bread wasn't my favorite but mostly because it wasn't what I initially expected but it was fine. We traded it in for the spiced lamb hummus and that was the sweet spot for me. I will definitely be back for more of that. It was great for dinner and would also be great on its own with a drink at the bar. We also had the autumn potato gnocchi which was very pleasant and light with plenty of flavor. For our mains we had the spice roasted chicken which was solid overall. It was fairly tender with pretty good flavor and the sticky rice that came with it added a nice sweet note that I really enjoyed. We also had the flat iron minute steak with egg noodles and Thai basil. The steak was a bit chewy but the combination of flavors made the dish really enjoyable overall. To top it all off i had the warm chocolate hazelnut cake and it was amazing. You can't go wrong with warm cake and ice cream. I'll definitely be back for that. My two standouts this time around were the spiced lamb hummus and the warm chocolate hazelnut cake. Chloe does it again! I will be back!

This restaurant is just around the corner of the hotel I'm staying at. A friend and I came after work for dinner and really enjoyed the food. Had their special of the day which was a hamachi kama. I've had this dish many many times at a Japanese restaurant. This was one of my all time favorite versions. It was a nice big portion and the miso glaze was really well balanced. Cooked perfectly. Also had gnocchi and chicken which were really good. Finished off with the chocolate cake. Fantastic.

Went for HH (offered at bar or patio only) on a weeknight! This is a pretty solid option in the area for apps and drinks. The ricotta was truly the star of the show! I also really enjoyed the falafel. To drink, the pistachio espresso martini was my personal fave. Overall, a cute spot with nice service!

Everything I had at Chloe was to die for! The falafel was crispy and flavorful, the drinks were delicious, the chicken was juicy and good. I truly have zero complaints. We came for brunch, I'd love to come another time for dinner. It's a cool spot with helpful staff and the ambiance is very chic. It never gets too loud but it's also not dead quiet either. I'll 100% be returning!!

We had high hopes for Chloe, but it was mediocre and expensive. Also, the service was pretty slow at the end of the meal. We waited 10-15 minutes for the bill, and it took another 10 minutes for our server to put the charge on the card. CARAMELIZED CAULIFLOWER - 16 This is what they're popular for, but the cauliflower we got was pretty soggy. We expected it to be crispy since it's caramelized, but we didn't get any of that sweetness we were expecting. It was very tahini-forward. Overall, it wasn't bad, but not what we were expecting and the texture was off. SPICED LAMB HUMMUS - 21 This was very good and the highlight of our meal. The ground lamb was flavorful and not too gamey, and the hummus was creamy and smooth. The buttered almonds added a nice crunchy texture, and the Beiruti hot sauce gave a lightly spicy kick. The snowshoe naan? Extremely soft and fluffy. We enjoyed this and would recommend it. SPICE ROASTED CHICKEN - 35 People on Yelp wrote about how the chicken was good, and the table next to us got it and it looked good, so we did too. We cut the chicken in half, and I took the white meat part and my friend took the dark meat portion. The white meat? Extremely dry and hard to cut into. The toasted chili-lime dipping sauce was weirdly sweet, so I didn't eat much of it. We enjoyed the broccolini, which was a bit sweet but had a nice savory sauce. The sticky rice was fine, nothing amazing. I will say, the chicken skin was thin, crispy, and delicious. Overall, this was a let down. I think we both prefer any Peruvian chicken joint for 1/3 of the price and chicken that's juicier and tastier. Sadly, I don't think we'll be returning after this experience.

    Summer Restaurant Week Menu 2025
    Lisa S.

We dined for the first time at Chloe for the Summer Restaurant week. We picked to sit outside to enjoy the beautiful weather and fresh air. Overall the outside area was nice and quiet - it was fairly early brunch on a Sunday, so that was lovely. The part that made us question our decision to sit outside were the amount of mosquitoes. Lots of bites and after a few minutes we saw others experiencing the same. The hostess brought out bug spray and several of us used it. So just something to keep in mind if you're dining outside. Service was very relaxed. We weren't in a rush, so it was okay, but it was fairly slow to get food. Perhaps that was due to restaurant week and being extra busy. The food! It was quite delicious!! The chia pudding was very good! The pastry plate was more than generous that gave a great sampling of items. One of the servers said the banana bread was one of his favorites and it melts in your mouth - we understood when we tried it. Yum! Both entries - Soft Egg Scramble and the Penne with sausage were delicious!! Though the penne said it was spicy in the description, it wasn't overly spicy. Had the typical Italian sausage seasoning with just the lightest heat. Really well balanced. Desserts - between the berry and peach shortcake and the chocolate hazelnut cake --- the chocolate hazelnut cake won hands down! The cake was a rich, fudgy cake, topped with a crispy wafer, and ice cream! Great texture and flavor and would absolutely order it again!

Made a reservation for 5pm on a Saturday for summer restaurant week. Was running late and called to let them know; they said it wouldn't be a problem. The restaurant is fairly small but good space. The bar and some high top tables are on one side, and the other side has regular height tables with an open kitchen and lots of light from the streets. They also have patio seating. It's a good area for people watching as they walk by. For RW, I had the lobster & sweet corn ravioli, angus steak and chocolate hazelnut cake. I also had a faux-jito. Everything was absolutely delicious! The ravioli was a surprise of flavor and textures with the combination of lobster and corn, but it was well done although oddly served in a bowl vs a plate (cutting it was awkward). The steak was small but with the tomato Parmesan bread pudding and Swiss chard, I found it to be the perfect amount of food for an entree. I tried each item separately, then enjoyed various pairings (steak + chard, then steak + bread pudding, then chard + bread pudding). I enjoyed the meal so much! Oh, and the pesto sauce around the plate was perfect with the last few bites of bread pudding. The chocolate hazelnut cake was a wonderful ending, with the salted caramel ice cream to balance out the heat/temperature of the cake. Everything was perfection that I won't even take off a star for the mosquitoes that were having a meal of their own with my legs or the server who seemed a tad aloof (shout out to the hostesses who presented me with a can of Off when I asked).

That restaurant moved to Penn Quarter a year ago and it's been about 4 years since I last went. I didn't even think I was in a new restaurant until I couldn't find the gold rabbit logo. The interior of the two restaurants is similar enough and having rolls with salmon roe topping your honey miso butter is not far off from what you might have found eating a fried chicken dish with a subtle Vietnamese twist at Moon Rabbit. The concept of WillowSong is nothing new: farm-to-table. But the flavors are beyond what we could of expected! The waiter explained how the chefs source their food from farms within a certain geographical radius. I definitely recommend a visit here for a special dinner that will leave you wanting to come back. The house made milk bread was served piping hot. The aroma - as I picked one roll up - was so indicative of bread you knew you were going to enjoy. The honey miso butter was not typical, and I loved it. It had a citrusy aftertaste and was not too sweet. I didn't eat the salmon roe - mentioned earlier topping the honey miso butter - but it was an interesting juxtaposition. The Squid Ink Oricchiette - black elbow pasta - was lovely. I asked the waiter, "Which is more popular here, the sea bass or the oricchiette?" He confidently said that if he had to choose, it would be the oricchiette and the Yelp reviews say the same. There was an inherent subtle heat and the jumbo lump crab meat was tasty. The squid ink pasta was cooked perfectly al dente and the tomato jus herb crumble was well-seasoned. The micro greens garnish added such a nice, crisp crunch. The citrus olive oil ricotta - underneath of the pasta - had a good balancing effect. The grilled maple citrus pork chop - when featured - is a not-to-miss! The flavors were divine. You got the sweetness of the maple sauce and a really nice sear with the char-grilled aftertaste. Just the kind of flavor I look for. Cutting into the pork chop was easy as it was so tender. All of the herb and vegetable flavors in the charred gratin (Swiss chard simmered in a creamy garlic sauce) really came together for something delightful. The Swiss chard was cooked well, yet had a good crunch with a definite farm-to-table flavor, straight from the garden. We were here on a weekend night. A rowdier after-9pm crowd formed for a televised game. I've seen it much busier here on weeknights at Moon Rabbit, before 9pm, and the waiter said the crowds here are similar. I liked that it was more bustling on the boardwalk and calmer inside of this restaurant, before the sporting event crowd around the bar. There are so many restaurants to choose from at the Wharf, and many of them are packed and touristy. When you step inside of WillowSong, there is no crowding and the environment is calm. I would next like to try the Hamache Tartar. It is made with chili oil, preserved lemon, scallion, cashew, Eva's Garden mouse melon, serrano and cilantro. The staff said the breakfasts at WillowSong are very popular and are from 9am to 1pm. Cornmeal pancakes? Hello. Look at the Yelp photos to see the breakfast offering deliciousness at WillowSong. If the birthday dessert that we enjoyed was any indication, I would have to believe him. It was a chocolate brownie-like pastry with granola and graham crust, flowers and fruit. The dark chocolate ganache was decadent. This was a hazelnut dessert which I would have never ordered because I find the flavor overpowering. They kindly surprised us by bringing out a dessert they chose, with a lit candle and singing. I was so glad that the hazelnut flavor was subtle and that it did not taste like a Nutella dessert. The birthday dessert was subtlety-flavored with hazelnut but chocolatey and rich, otherwise. I think there was oatmeal or granola in it. This was a decadent experience. Love that the restaurant has margaritas and sangrias on draught. In the sangria you can find: mango purée, white wine, apple brandy and soda water. Would love to try, next time. As much as I love the Vietnamese fusion fare at Moon Rabbit, I was equally as delighted with the more global dining experience at WillowSong. And the lovely, warm service.

Ambar did an excellent job curating a menu that worked for everyone without making anyone feel like an afterthought. We opted for the Chef's Table experience, which included a spread tasting with veggie sticks and a variety of dishes that were clearly labeled and thoughtfully prepared: * Bean hummus - GF / DF / NF * Ajvar - GF / DF / NF * Balkan salad - GF / DF / NF (one prepared without feta cheese) * Baby carrots - GF / DF / NF (one prepared without tofu sauce) * Roasted peppers - GF / DF / NF * Cauliflower - GF / DF / NF * Baked beans - GF / DF / NF * Roasted lamb - GF / DF / NF * Stuffed pork belly "Sarma" - GF / DF / NF * Brussels sprouts - GF / DF / NF (one prepared without yogurt and bacon) * Seafood platter Everything was flavorful, well-seasoned, and beautifully presented. The meal was so delicious that I didn't even manage to get photos of everything, which rarely happens for me. Just know we dined very well and left completely satisfied. Service The staff was wonderful from start to finish. From the event team member who served as our account manager, to the chef, to the servers and wait staff, everyone was attentive and accommodating. They handled our dietary needs with care and professionalism and made sure our group felt taken care of throughout the evening. Pricing We paid a set fee that we were able to negotiate, and the final rate wasn't too bad for a group experience like this. Just keep in mind that there is an admin fee, a 20% gratuity, and taxes added on top, so be sure to factor that into your planning if you're booking a group event. Overall, I'd absolutely recommend Ambar for group dining, especially if you have guests with dietary restrictions. They made coordination easy, delivered great food, and created a memorable dining experience for our team.

Visited Ambar for a boozy brunch with some friends. While the price for unlimited food and drinks…read moreis reasonable ($52 per person total), the food is a hit or miss. Some of the items are very tasty (kebabs, cheese pie) while others are a major letdown (shakshuka, mini burger). Read reviews in advance to understand what to order. Drinks were unique - I particularly enjoyed the lavender peach mimosa. But the champagne quality is not very good so beware if you are partaking in bottomless drinks. Service was good and fast, ambiance was alright but nothing to write home about. An OK experience overall.
