We celebrated a bday party & service was great. Food was equally good, nice portions & reasonable. The Manager was very friendly too. Good teppan place in TO. Must try!

We haven't been here in such a long time! Excellent dinner at the sushi bar! Thank you Guzman! He was our sushi guy and served us well! Everything was fresh and tasty! The yellowtail and albacore sushi was so good! My husband loved his baked scallop hand roll (Rock and Roll) and the encino roll was bomb! Also had a no rice roll that was fantastic! AND! Their uni was delish! One thing we did not like is their sushi rice is WAY TOO SWEET! Never ever have we had sweet rice at a sushi bar? Unfortunately it overwhelmed everything. You might want to tone it down a bit because it really affects the taste of every dish Also I have to say that our server was great! I wish I knew his name? He took great care of us! Definitely recommend coming here!

The food was excellent! They don't just cook in front of you. The cook is a performance artist! It was a Tuesday night. I was there with family celebrating my nephew's birthday. Just about everyone was celebrating so there was a lot of joyful singing. Great ambience!

What a WONDERFUL experience today! Daughter Michelle was visiting from New Jersey with husband Barak and grandsons Gideon and Nadav - all celebrating our Sept, Nov and Dec birthdays! We lived in Thousand Oaks for 20 years and went to Cho Cho Sans for many birthday celebrations - so it was family tradition to go to this for the great food and the SHOW. Problem was we didn't know they stopped the lunch show and seeing how special this was for our family, the host Jeff made a SPECIAL text to Chef Tem if he could come in for US! And he DID!! Even though we were the ONLY customers in the habachi room, our server Lauren did a fantastic job and of course at the end they ALL sang Happy Birthday in English AND Japaneese!! We felt so special to have been able to continue our family celebration at our place even though our family is in New Jersey, Texas and NoCal, we aren't able to be together that often. THANK YOU SO VERY MUCH, Jeff, Tem, Lauren and the wonderful staff, not to mention the DELICIOUS food that has NEVER lost one bite of flavor in all these many years!

Chicken cooked by chef Ten was done very nice.

I have been coming here for years for their Teppanyaki and the experience each time varies depending on what chef you get. This most recent time was with Chef Ten and he was fantastic all around. No complaints at all. Some chefs cook the food just perfectly (Ten did!) and others overcook it (in my experience is well overdone chicken). I love their salad dressing and the overall experience is great each time but I get concerned that if I order chicken that I can expect a more than 50% chance of another chef overcooking it. It's awkward to complain about food when the chef is right in front of you so hopefully your experience is good like my most recent time here. Also their fried rice is literally just rice with egg, no veggies in it, see the picture. About a decade ago they used to have a lot of veggies mixed in with it and I thought that was better. Overall I love coming here and their food is on average just ok probably explains the community rating of 3 stars. From my perspective is that the food experience is inconsistent and that some of their food items like their fried rice has gone down hill. For dinner time this is not a cheap place to eat. Expect to be dazzled by cooking tricks and fun personalities, but keep my concerns in mind!

Such a great spot for birthday celebrations, very kid‑friendly, with good food, drinks, and a lively atmosphere. The staff was wonderful, and our chef made the experience even more fun.

This is the size of their ramen serving. Terrible for what they charge.

I like Cho Cho San over all but their ramen serving are absurd. Such a disappointment.

We had dumplings, ramen, seafood fried rice & sushi, everything was terrible, made me sick to my stomach 3.2 stars is being nice, I would give it a solid 1 star.

If you ever plan on having a night out, go to Chocho and get Troy as your server, he is amazing and made our night 20 times better.

One of my favorite sushi restaurants here in the county. The Ken's special is a must try. My son loves the rock shrimp. We have visited this location quite a few times and service is always great. I love the atmosphere great for groups or date night.

Inside the restaurant you can watch live how food is prepared for you.

I like the steak sauce better in LA although I don't know what makes it different. Maybe it's more spicy? Our chef, Juan, was on the money with the food. Absolutely delicious! We had great company too! The vibe tonight was amazing. So much energy so that everyone had a blast. Only thing I didn't like was that the prices when we got the bill differed from the menu. Not sure why that was and we didn't bother asking for an explanation. Our server Oliver was very efficient and had a super smile while serving. Good mannerisms. I've got a picture of the menu before we ate and noticed the bill didn't match. We ordered edamame, hot sake, & Hibachi Steak dinner. Parking is valet or you can park on street.

**Absolutely terrible experience -- first time, huge disappointment (for a birthday no less).**…read more My friends and I went to this restaurant for the very first time today to celebrate my friend's birthday. We were genuinely excited--so excited, in fact, that we drove an hour and a half just to try something new. We made a reservation, told the host it was our first time, and even specifically asked to sit in the hibachi/cook area because we wanted to experience the show in front of us (and we wanted the birthday girl to have the best view). The host agreed and sat us in the middle seats for "perfect viewing." At first, the server had an attitude the entire time, but we tried to ignore it because we were still looking forward to the experience. That's when things got worse. We all ordered the same thing because the lunch package showed a variety of food, and we wanted a little of everything. The cook was actually friendly, and he was the only genuinely good part of the experience. But we immediately noticed he wasn't cooking our food. He was focused on the couple next to us--meanwhile, we were still sitting there waiting, confused and wondering why we hadn't gotten anything yet. Eventually, the cook tells us what we ordered comes from the back kitchen and he doesn't make any of our food. To be clear: **that is exactly why we asked to sit there.** We told the host it was our first time and asked for hibachi. We told the server too. We were excited to watch the chef and have the birthday experience. And somehow none of them communicated that our order would not be cooked at the hibachi table. No one warned us we were choosing something that came from a completely separate part of the restaurant. Why would we be seated in front of a chef who isn't cooking our food, and why would nobody think to tell us that before we ordered? We were awkwardly stuck waiting through everyone else's meal. The couple next to us ate first, and we were just sitting there the whole time like we were invisible. When our food finally arrived, we were already so frustrated that we didn't even want to enjoy it. At that point, we didn't even want our drinks anymore. The experience felt ruined--our appetite was gone. We left extremely disappointed, and honestly upset that we drove all that way and still ended up feeling like we barely ate. And the food wasn't what we expected either. Our rice was just plain white rice, while the couple next to us had the better fried rice, this is exactly what we assumed we ordered based on the lunch package and what we were watching in front of us. We barely ate, got everything packed up to go, and couldn't even finish our drinks. It felt like we wasted food, time, and money. What makes it even more insulting is the lack of communication. Three staff members knew it was our first time. None of them took even a moment to explain how the menu works or clarify that hibachi seating wouldn't apply to our order. Because if we known we would've ordered something completely different!! Then at the end, the server acted like it was no big deal and basically said, "Oh yeah, it's on the menu," like we were stupid for misunderstanding. But if it was that important, they could've explained it--especially since they knew it was our first visit and we were specifically requesting the hibachi experience. So yes--we paid the tab, left, and we were all extremely upset. We drove to another place afterward just to get fast food because we still didn't end up actually eating what we came for. I've never written a bad review about anything before, but today was honestly one of the most disappointing restaurant experiences we've ever had. If you want an actual hibachi show, just be careful--**because apparently the "hibachi seating" experience doesn't mean your food will be cooked in front of you.** And nobody bothered to tell us until after we already waited through the whole table experience. We later on google the menu and nowhere is it stated that the items we selected would be cooked somewhere else.

It pains me to write this review as I've had many great meals at Something's Fishy over the years…read more This was the first time I've eaten there in about 10 years and it was not the same place. I just started dating a wonderful woman who lives near the restaurant and thought it would be a solid choice. First off, it was 7:30 on a Saturday night and a ghost town. 10 years ago, there was a wait because it was so crowded. We sat in the middle section of the hibachi table and were asked to move down by the hostess who would come to be known as Madame Grouchy Pants by the end of the night. I ordered the rib-eye and my date the Mahi Mahi. We ended up being the only 2 people at the table. I had never seen that before. The chef was OK, but seemed to rush half-heartedly through his routine. He finished quickly, then asked me if the steak tasted OK before leaving. This raised my antenna a bit; it was an odd statement. The first bite of steak wasn't awful or great; it was kind of bland. A couple more bites and I bit into a piece that didn't taste right. I stupidly asked my date to try a piece. She did and said it was OK. Not great, but not rotten. The next couple of bites I took tasted awful, and I called Madame Grouchy Pants over, and she said she'd replace the steak. She took my plate, which had all of the veggies and rice mixed with the steak. Another waitress then brought back the plate unchanged and plopped it down in front of me. So no redo on the veggies or fried rice that I paid extra for. They prepared the new steak on a separate plate, but there was no way I was eating those veggies and rice. The new steak came and was good, as it should have been in the first place. I ate about half of it, then my stomach started to gurgle. The same was true for my date. The bill came to $100 and I barely ate. The two of us were sick all night and we tried to make the best of it. If nothing else the night was memorable, but I will NEVER EVER eat there again. I just threw out the leftovers as they smelled weird. Bennihana from here on out. Something really is fishy here, just not in the right way. AVOID THIS PLACE unless you enjoy spending your night riding the porcelain!!!
