I was surprised when my friend ordered shrimp sushi and chef made deep fry with head of shrimp. not many sushi restaurants does it, they made nice and crunchy. Good quality and kind prices of menu.

Tomodachi has the freshest sushi in town. Really nice atmosphere, friendly staff. Presentation exceeded my expectations. Would recommend.

Tomodachi is a solid sushi restaurant if you are fan of no frills fresh sashimi style fish. I've driven by this location many times but it wasn't until recently that a friend and I were craving sushi close to home that we decided to give this spot a try. The ambiance and atmosphere left little to be desired though. It's definitely got a stark feel, not very warm or inviting so I was a little apprehensive walking in. However the servers were friendly enough and sat us right away. For a weekend evening the restaurant only remained about five tables full at all times. It was quiet and relaxing in that way as it didn't have the normal hustle and bustle some restaurants have on a weekend night. So if you want a more intimate private setting this restaurant would surely work. The service was a little hit or miss. I felt that simply out of the two servers on the floor, one was more on it then the other. We did have to ask for our drinks to be refilled which I'm never a fan of, especially when I find the restaurant to not be very busy. But then service picked up towards the end were we stopped having to ask and they were more on it. Also the sushi all came out together which was definitely a plus as when your dining with someone you want to be able to both eat together which sometimes is a barrier at sushi spots when they bring only a roll or two at a time. The sushi chefs behind the bar were friendly and again the meal was well paced. I felt that the prices were average. Not a deal but also for the area the prices were appropriate as the sushi was fresh and the bites were perfect in size. The menu as others have said wasn't innovative really, but at least they did the classics well and the menu would be easy to follow for an average sushi eater. Not an overwhelming amount of rolls to pick from but their nigiri menu was on point! Our favorites of the night were just the well balanced nigiri sections of salmon, yellowtail, and soybean curd. As for the rolls I would skip as we found we would rather spend money here on the nigiri. If your in the area and wanting a simple but fresh tasty meal of nigiri and sashimi this is definitely the spot for you. We also noticed a lot of to go orders so this seems to be the hot spot in town for takeout so worth remembering. I don't know if the meal was memorable that it would be on a regular rotation for me but if someone was begging to go I would surely give them another go as it's nice to have different sushi options on this side of town.

The 911 roll and Tomodachi roll are my favorite here, so good! Their sakè is delicious and goes down so easy, too. Staff is always friendly and the restaurant is a local sushi gem, it's a full house in the evening time.

Had a quick business meeting and decided on a place right off the freeway. Service was warm, friendly, and prompt. Was greeted immediately upon entering. I ordered a sushi/teriyaki salmon combo that was very tasty. My peer ordered ramen which she enjoyed as well. Highly recommend this place and will come back again.

The service was attentive and friendly, and the portions were surprisingly generous. Everything we ordered was fresh and flavorful, but the tuna crispy rice was definitely the standout, it had the perfect balance of texture and flavor. The ponzu yellowtail was also exceptionally fresh, light, and refreshing. There are so many rolls on the menu that we wanted to try, so we'll definitely be back for another visit!

The rice was cold, packed too tightly, and tough, which really hurts the overall experience. A lot of the sushi was also overwhelmed by sauces, which covered up the flavor of the fish instead of highlighting it. Maybe this works if you like heavily dressed rolls, but it is not what I would call great sushi, especially by California standards. The wait was also frustrating, not just because it was long, but because of how poorly it seemed to be managed. It felt like regulars could walk up, say the right thing, and get seated while everyone else just stood around waiting. That kind of thing makes the experience feel pretty lousy. The restaurant itself is packed, loud, and cramped. The tables are tiny, and there are not many of them, so it is hardly a pleasant dinner experience. To me, this place feels more driven by hype, social media, and people following the crowd than by truly excellent sushi. I wanted to like it, but based on this visit, I would not go back.

We visited this sushi restaurant on a Friday evening with my friend. As soon as we walked in, the…read moresushi chef greeted us very politely and warmly. For a moment we had the feeling that the evening would be great. The place looked very clean and even a little bit glamorous, so we thought we had chosen a really good spot. Unfortunately, our impressions changed as soon as we started ordering. We ordered a salad, a sushi roll, and monkfish liver. The monkfish liver tasted so "authentic" that it felt like it had just been taken straight out of a can. It definitely did not taste like something that had been prepared in that kitchen. From the beginning to the end of our visit, we never received water. When we asked for wasabi and ginger, the waitress told us that they would bring it when the sushi arrived. We repeated our request for ginger, but the answer was exactly the same. When the roll finally arrived, it looked like someone might have started eating it yesterday and they simply decided to give it another chance today. It wasn't really sliced so much as it was spread across the plate. On the very edge of the plate there was a tiny bit of ginger and a tiny bit of wasabi. Both looked like they might have been borrowed from someone else's plate. When I looked at the waitress questioningly, she explained that if we wanted more wasabi and ginger, we could pay extra and they would bring more. I checked the rating later and somehow it has four stars. I'm giving it two stars -- and only because the sushi chef was very polite when we arrived and the place was clean inside.

I skipped breakfast and by the time I had time to eat it was lunch (1PM) and when I looked at Yelp…read moreto try something new these pictures looked appetizing and got me craving sushi. The establishment is kind of hidden in the corner next to the shell gas station and there is ample parking. As I was walking towards the front, I see a sign stating that they have a happy hour starting at 1 o'clock and it was 1259 so I was very excited to see what this look like especially for it being my first time here. This meant that I get to try a lot of new things and a lot more things. There is about 10 to 15 tables inside with different amounts of seating and since it was just my boyfriend and I and the lady gave us the choice to sit wherever then we chose a table with two seats but, had us move to the next one because she said that the two seat ones were for single people, especially because it was lunchtime. She refused to let us sit at the two person table ‍. We got several menus and a pencil with an ordering paper. She took our drink order and we started to explore the vast menu and it all looked great! (I love when they have pictures on the menu apart from descriptions) After she brought us waters, I asked her if the special menu was considered the happy hour menu and she said it's not happy hour yet and I said yes it is 1 o'clock and she looked at my boyfriends clock on his phone and apologized and brought the happy hour menu. I included the receipt so you can see that 4/5 rolls were happy hour pricing. The sushi chefs were 2 Hispanic men and the reason why I mention this was because I feel like most of my rolls had this "chili powder" that resembled Tajin on my rolls and that's what they called "spicy" half my rolls were supposed to be spicy tuna but the tuna itself was not spicy they just had this Tajin-like powder on top and to me it wasn't spicy at all and I also felt like it made those 2/3 rolls taste bland. My bf loves deep fried rolls so he opted to try the magic mtn and he loved it and I think I enjoyed the spider roll the most. Even the spicy tuna on the crispy rice was just regular tuna with no spice. We still thought it tasted good but we will maybe give it another try with different rolls next time. They have a punch card if you spend $50+ after I think 10 you get a free speciality roll. The chefs gave us a parting remark and we thanked them upon leaving for lunch. Our server was a little more cold but kudos to her for handling the whole restaurant by herself in an efficient manner as our food came out quick and we got water refills and she checked in on us while serving 5/6 other tables all by herself.
