Our new favorite thing to do for sushi is to get more sashimi, miso soup and then just 1 roll for variety. We love sushi planet Camarillo so had to check out this one in Moorpark to compare. It didn't disappoint. Miso soup has a different flavor. Like it's more than just miso paste and water with tiny bites of tofu. We ordered salmon and yellowtail sashimi - the pieces were generously sized. We're a little obsessed with the OMG roll and wondered if it would be the same as the one in Camarillo. It was! We tried Sushi Planet years ago and didn't have the best experience, but we've been here now several times since then and have had wonderful dinners here. This is now our go-to sushi place! The staff here is so kind and attentive, and the atmosphere is very warm and welcoming. The sushi itself is super fresh and tasty, and their rolls have great flavors. Our favorites recently are the Sumo, the Red Dragon, and the Big Boss. My kids order Shirley temples and they come with little umbrellas on top. They just make everyone feel like family and are very sweet. Coupled with very good sushi, it is our new favorite spot! read more

We did a pickup order. My samurai roll was just ok, despite even adding cream cheese and jalapeño to it. My husband went to pick up the order and had to wait an additional 15 minutes or so for our order to be ready. We hope this simply means that the order was made fresh as possible. read more

The name isn't lying they have a world of sushi here. Portions are outstanding for the price that you pay, and even feeling full you're gonna want to order more. All of the staff are patient kind and hardworking- despite the sign saying they're short staffed I never got that feeling from how well they have it together here. I have, from most shops, ordered some of my sushi staples and figured I have never been to this location, but have been to other shops from this chain. The service received from the staff here was warm, friendly, and cheerful, while the restaurant was clean and welcoming with plenty of indoor and outdoor seating. My basic fare is the sushi Freshwater Eel, the Yellowtail Belly, and the Salmon and Smelt Roe with Quail Egg atop each Roe roll. My eel was tender at my first bite followed by a smokey sweetness provided by the sauce. The Salmon roe rolls were unraveling at the first touch of my chopsticks, however, I was able to recover by rewrapping and reassembling the rolls carefully. Their taste of all the rolls was bursting with their trademark light sweetness of the roe and quail egg with the subtle crunch of the salty, yet tangy seaweed wrap. The Yellowtail belly melted in my mouth having a lovely, soft texture with a slight bit of spice for the top of my palate, delivered from the minute jalapeño drop on top. Delighted by the range of flavour from these selections, my next visit may have me stopping in and sitting for a quiet dinner. I am excited about the great quality and freshness in each bite. This was the first experience at this location. This review is from one week ago Saturday and the next day Sunday. I've ordered from the Westlake Village location many times. I won't eat raw fish anymore and they have many delicious rolls I love here. This location in MOORPARK ended up being superior to any other I've been to. FOOD DELIVERY: I ordered through Postmates the Rocket Roll, which is a favorite, Baked Salmon Roll with added cream cheese, and Crispy Rice with spicy imitation crab instead of spicy tuna. They forgot the cream cheese in the Baked Salmon Roll unfortunately. Everything was still delicious. I also love that they offer extra sauces to purchase online. So many restaurants do not, so I won't order at those places because of that. I love my sauce! They are very overpriced though on Postmates! Almost $1.70 for one tiny sauce. FOOD PICK UP: The next day I was craving sushi again. This time I drove there to make sure my order was correct and to avoid fees. I wish they joined in on Postmates discounts that the app offers occasionally. When I walked in, it was about 2:15 and they were close to closing. Not a customer in there. The girl at the counter was on the phone with a customer, and the sushi chef just looked up and didn't welcome me. A hello would have been appreciated. The girl was on the phone for 6 minutes while I stood there. My food sitting there. She could have put the person on hold who seemed to not know what they wanted to order and just let me pay. When she got off the phone, no apologies for me waiting. I mentioned the cream cheese not being added the night before to a roll, and she said they did not charge for it. That was kind, however, they should have done that. It's not exactly a favor giving someone something they should have received in a previous order. She could have offered a few free sauces. Instead, she had me pay for two sides of sauce. For these things, I wanted to deducted a star, however, I did not. OVERALL: I would definitely return to this location, especially if they jump on the discount train for Postmates! My husband and I drove 1.5 hrs just to come and check this gem out and it was totally worth it. The shrimp wrapped crispy potatoes were perfection! This is one of the better local sushi spots year after year. They staff treats you basically like family. Always smiling, patient and helpful. The selections are good. The prices are fair and moderate. A little packed at lunch, but outdoor seating helps. It's nice to have the current selections of other food establishments around if you want a coffee or dessert. But don't skip on the green tea ice cream here. I like the ambiance and pop music genre playing in the background. For those new to sushi who don't like seaweed, you can ask for soy paper and they will swap the seaweed for that. Over 2 years ago I visited this local establishment on New Year's Eve after unsuccessfully trying to order to go food online and on the phone. The experience left me with a lot of bad feelings. HOWEVER, I tried them again several months ago both online and dining in. Both have been very pleasant and delicious. The service fee is no longer in place and I have always been quickly greeted and the service is great. I've been going to this establishment for the past 15 years. I've absolutely loved their staff and food. They treat you like you're family.

This was hard to do, but I have to share my concern. We are a big sushi family; we travel to explore sushi places. I can't give this place more than 1 star. The atmosphere was cute so I had high hopes. There were many tables availble but we ended up waiting 20 min for a table due to no one checking anyone in and them prioritizing take out over in house guest. once we sat, they asked what we wanted right away but within 30 seconds I have zero clue what food we would want. There was no set waitress, everyone just walked around like they didn't know what was going on or who's table was what. I ordered green tea which came with a dollar store brand tea bag and hot water, strange for a Japanese place. In all my years I have never received store bought bags like that. After maybe 20 minutes I ordered 2 california rolls for my kids and a bento box. The waitress explained one of the rolls, which once it came out looked worse than gas station sushi and tasted funky. It was anything but what she explained. After another 15 minutes my bento box came but both rolls were hot, not warm, hot. The rolls were miniature, quality was 2/10. Another 10 minutes goes by and 1 CA roll comes out. Each time food came out it was a different person, no one asked if we needed anything or for refills of anything. I had to constantly flag people down but most went ignored because again they had 3 people running take out and 1-2 running the whole restaurant. Finally, 20 min after the first CA roll came out, a take out person pulled a waitress for me and said she had a question. So finally I asked where's the other roll? My kid was starving and I don't get why they weren't brought out together. The rolls were a mess by the way, pieces so big they just fell apart and were mostly rice. They never seemed that apologetic about anything. What upset me is that you saw tables who you could tell were regulars getting better attention and the table next to me ordered their food 10 min after me but got it way before me except they were visibly frustrated when they said they were missing stuff and the waitress didn't realize at all. They complained no one asked them if they wanted refills either. It just seemed a mess. It wasn't even a busy night, there were tables available. I even saw large tables getting food and drinks before we got our last roll, tables who got there 20 min after us. It was just me and my two little kids. It was just a mess and I will never pay to go here again. Not once did they offer to comp the CA roll, they acted like Oh well! There was one redeeming thing, there was a take out waitress who noticed my frustration and saw my kids, she offered mini ice cream cones on the house to ease my kids frustration as well. She seemed to be the only one organized and paying attention but she was only doing take outs it seemed. I have eaten at 100s of sushi places, and this was top 3 worst I have ever been to. read more

In a tucked away corner in a shopping center is an amazing sushi restaurant probably the best in moorpark. I had the pleasure of dining here with my friends on random Wednesday and we ordered pretty much everything, the first thing I have to say was the service was really quick, friendly, and had a lot of great recommendations. Their sushi was very fresh as well. I especially like the unagi and the salmon eggs. But what really took me away was the interior design. When you walk in you're greeted with a wall but when you walk around the corner it feels like you're transported to a small little fishing village. The owner, Yo Me, presented herself to us and even gave us a beer on the house. The only thing I didn't enjoy was the fact that it was very dark in there. A friend referred my wife & I to Sushi Planet in Moorpark saying this place had such amazing food. As we found out she was correct. We started with the Garlic Edamame appetizer and I could easily say this was the best Edamame I'd ever tasted by far due to the garlic seasoning. We also had the seasoned calamari rings and loved the sauce that it come with. From there we had the beautiful presented Fresh Oysters, Black Snapper Sushi, the Albacore Delight Roll and Sushi Combination Plate. We found that all the seafood was very fresh and some of the best in Southern CA. The atmosphere was nice and clean. The staff and owner were attentive and very pleasant. The rest of the menu looked delightful with so many choices so I'm sure we will return multiple times as this will be one of our favorite places to dine. read more
