Absolutely rude! The worst possible service you can imagine! Terrible coffee. They have 2-3 nice pastries and for the most part edible food. Super cute and cheap cafe in the Hollywood area. There are tons of bars and cafes all around and is usually packed. Their lunch menu is like $8.99 and they have really good desserts and bakery goods. I had the quesadilla with a house salad and a vanilla custard with fruits. Both were delicious and I would definitely recommend. We asked the waitress if we could sit at a table outside and she said yes. We're enjoying our coffee when a rude male waiter (possibly management) came to our table and told us, if you order something to go, you can't sit down, so next time if it's to go, you can't stay. Talk about awkward and rude! We didn't simply sit, we asked, and were given permission to stay. A note to management: the charm about a local business is the experience. Invited my friend for a Birthday dessert and coffee after dinner. We arrived shortly after the man playing the guitar was just finishing playing music. I ordered a Cortadito and my friend ordered an Espresso. All the deserts look so tempting. We ordered the Dulce de Leche vanilla layer peaches. I asked the owner if he did anything special for birthdays and he pulled out a fourth of July sparkler and sang happy birthday. I really was expecting something nicer than that, but only the best companies can offer that with prices that are worth paying. This is diabetic heaven! We arrived about 11pm and the cases were full of the most enticing treats. It was the toughest decision of the day! The cases drew me in like a moth to the flame. I really wanted a bite of everything but I had to make a choice. The waitress was so patient as I asked so many questions. It really was a difficult decision as the calories jumped through the glass to my backside. :-0 I finally decided on the opera cake and a decaf cappuccino with soy. Joe went with the chocolate mousse cake and a large capp. As we waited which was not too long we watched the steady stream of people enter the shop many selecting delicious treats. Chocolada I had eaten at before for lunch and now this time for breakfast. The great thing about Yelp is that once reading reviews you know the good the bad and the ugly. In this case the food is great but the service is lousy. Therefore when my son chose this restaurant I planned accordingly. Once we were able to order I than asked for our check when the food arrived. That way we had what we wanted and by the time we would see the waitress again we would be paid and ready to go. Not looking anxious as all the other customers were done wanting to leave but couldn't. I could feel their frustrations as the tables outside and under a cover are so tightly spaced, this is not where you want to be in flu season. As for the food it is very good and reasonably priced. It's just unfortunate that the seating and lack of service bring it down to a solid 3 star. I had two eggs sunny side up served with hash browns. For toast you are limited to white and wheat only. Usually I get rye toast or sourdough is also a great choice. I ordered ham and it did not come as expected but like a sliced ham found on sandwiches. Don't get me wrong it worked but usually you think a thicker cut for breakfast. Will I return probably if I have no other choices and you are with your son that picked. I felt like a kid in a candy store, with all the yummy looking desserts thru the display case. They had full size cakes to individualized cheesecakes, chocolate cakes, square custards to bite size cookies. I ordered the Tiramisu. They had the regular one and the sugar-free kind. The regular tiramisu was super fluffy that had layers of cream and cake. The cake part tasted like it has a lot of coffee and the cream was waaay too creamy & fluffy, i wish they had put more base to it. Disappointed on the price and the serving size. The eggplant parmesan seemed to be from a box of pre-made, identical circles of coated eggplant--fine but clearly not made in house, though I'm not sure why I thought it would be. There was no marinara on the eggplant as the counter person did not understand that I didn't want marinara on the pasta. Just the pasta. There were a few language issues (her English was pretty good, but not on finer details). I also got the chocolate mousse cake which was chocolatey but definitely not "mousse" as the filling. Again, likely not made in house, or maybe it was a few days old. Overall, it was okay, maybe a little better than that and while I probably wouldn't return on my own, if friends wanted to go there I would join them. We have been here several times for breakast because we love the outdoor seating on a gorgeous sunny day. Plus of course the breakfast food is delicious. (We cannot wait to come back for dinner) For less than $5 I had a bacon omelet (no cheese). A good omelet for me is one packed with protein, cooked to perfection and comes out hot. Today was the first time we had fresh carrot juice blended with fresh squeezed orange juice. We decided to order it when we noticed a lady carrying two out them in to go containers. Wow! I looked at the menu and ordered a coffee since I saw it was $2, i asked her to double check with her if that price was accurate, she said "i don't know" and walked away. We then waited 15 minutes for our order to arrive. I know that doesn't sound like a long time, but when all she had to do was take 2 pastries out of the cooler and put in in a plate it is a little bit too much.By the time she brought the dessert, my husband was really upset and ready to walk out. Anyhow, we finished and she brought us the check and when I looked at it, we clearly did not have to order that coffee because the pastries alone were $10! I understand the more money you spend the bigger the tip, but when you are shady and make me spend more money on something I do not need to, you as a waitress will not get anything from me. I got the Chocolada which is definitely a chocoholic's dream. It's layers of chocolate mousse, hazelnut mousse, and brownie encompassed in dark chocolate. Yum! So rich and decadent. My friend got the saravina, a typical Romanian dessert. Also similar to the french pastry Baba Au Rhum. This brought back her childhood memories when she would eat it with her dad at the bakeries back in Romanian. She said it was as good as she remembered it. I, on the other hand, am not a huge fan. What a gem! Came here for breakfast with my mom and sat on the patio. It's nice and shady and not too hot. We started with coffee- I had the cafe mocha and she ordered the Carmel frappucino. Both were delicious but the frappucino was the standout. Served in a huge glass with caramel drizzle down the sides, it was drinking desert! Next time we will split one, as that's a lot of caffeine and sugar for one person to ingest! We both had the florentine omelet- fluffy eggs with chicken breast, onion, tomato, fresh spinach and cheese. Amazing! Chocolada was really close to my sister's apartment, and so my friend and I stopped here for breakfast when we wanted to go out to eat. The poached eggs were fantastic, and they were able to handle my annoying substitutions without batting a lash. I had poached eggs over spinach and tomatoes with a small side of feta. On our last trip, we each had a dessert. I had the sugar-free tiramisu, and my friend had some sort of mousse cake. Both were really good, my only complaint being that you could totally taste the splenda with the sugar-free dessert. It's one of those unique places that you can just sit and hang around and experience a lot in a short amount of time. The waitress took 58 minutes to bring our food to the table. Two coffees with milk, one orange juice, three glasses of water, two omelets, and one salmon egg benedict were ordered. My eggs benedict were cold and overcooked, with no runny eggs as they should have been. The omelets were both overcooked. Furthermore, the food contained an excessive amount of salt. The waitress later charged us for three coffees and added an 18% tip to the bill. After being charged, I complained about why they would be unable to refund the credit card charge, so I requested cash, including $1 less from their tip, because they added an extra coffee without informing us. I did get my cash, at least, but I believe Chocolada Bakery & Cafe establishment should be avoided due to poor food quality, service, and a lack of attention to detail. First I had one of the waitress lady asking " Do you want to sit outside and I replied saying no, is too hot to be outside and I said I would like to sit indoors. We wanted a quick bite to eat during our vacation in Florida. Nothing too heavy or fancy, but a step above fast food. We decided to stop at Chocolada Cafe due to it's inviting outdoor section. I ordered the strawberry and spinach salad which was just that. Strawberry and spinach. I added chicken for an extra $2. It was good, but sort of empty. For almost $10, I thought it was overpriced. Had the salad been more dressed up, I wouldn't be complaining. My boyfriend ordered the steak hoagie and kept raving about it. We also ordered a bottle of wine (we were on vacation-- we're allowed) and a chocolate dessert to go that was incredible! Bill was about $50. I have given this place 5 stars for being the only Romanian cofetarie - cafe/cake place - in translation - in Miami and one of the few Romanian cofetarii in the US. They play an important role in the community and make some really authentic cakes and torts. For a taste of authenticity try the Dobos cake or Amandina. It is also the place for us to rush to when we have a special occasion going on, birthday party, Easter to pick up a tort. I also love eating there because of the atmosphere, perfectly Romanian, reminds me of back home at a terasa, the breeze, the music, the fact that it's always packed, all of the chairs and tables with the Romanian flag. And not knowing much around Miami yet I was happy to be able to buy a cozonac for Easter (traditional Ro Easter and Christmas cake like Panetone in Italy) without any trouble from them.
