Stopping in here was one the high points of a weekend bike ride up the Canal towpath. They had me at "S'mores," but I also grabbed a Seven-Layer bar to go and enjoyed that one later in the ride. The S'mores Bar was just the right proportion of graham cracker pieces, milk chocolate chunks, and toasted marshmallow: Fresh, good texture, and great taste. The Seven-Layer bar had berries, white chocolate, and butterscotch, and tasted wonderful. For a bonus it held up well on the bike. At 10:00am on a Sunday, service was quick, friendly, and there was an excellent selection of baked goods and truffles in the cases. Whatever you're looking for will likely be here. Also. tip-of-the-hat for having a few outdoor tables and a bench to enjoy the fresh baked goods and people-watching for a few minutes. The bakery is only a half block from the bridge, and is absolutely worth a stop if you're hiking or riding up either side of the river and want a quick Sugar/Carbs fix. read more

Wow! This place is amazing. My friends have been bringing me their goodies for years. Today I ventured there to order my daughters Birthday Cake. The owner was lovely. Heaven. Smells literally like chocolate in the oven when you walk in. You won't know what to choose b/c everything looks fantastic. I noticed they had their Italian rainbow cookies for sale--but they also had home made Italian rainbow cookie *ICE CREAM*. They had fresh, amazing looking lemon bars--but they also had lemon bar ice cream! Needless to say, these 2 flavors in a cup for me were perfection! This place is amazing. I called about two weeks ago to request a cake for my sister in law's baby shower. The only problem was .... I needed to pick it up Christmas Eve. I spoke with Cathy (the owner) who assured me it was no problem. The other issue was I was from out of town and would need to drive it 2.5 hours from Milford. Cathy was great to communicate with, texting me pictures of what ideas she had based on the description I gave her (woodland themed). We ended up with a vanilla cake with chocolate ganache as one layer and the other layer was a chocolate cake with cookies and cream (a customer favorite). I picked up the cake without a problem - it was ready and waiting for me at 10 am Christmas Eve as promised and it made it to the shower in one piece. Cathy even gave me extra white chocolate in case pieces fell off in transport (which didn't happen). It was a HUGE hit at the shower!! Everyone raved about the design and the taste was awesome. The vanilla layer was delicious, but that chocolate layer was ommgggg and the cookies and cream filling - to die for. I would go back to Chocolate in the Oven in a heartbeat. So easy to deal with and phenomenal product. The store is adorable. Everything smells like heaven. I should have ordered cookies, too, because they looked awesome. Love this place! So far my favorite is the banana pudding - it's crack! So addictive! They made Irish soda bread for St. Pats. I walked into store and another customer turned to me and said taste the soda bread sample....it's the best soda bread I have ever had....I did and she was 100% correct....it was the best soda bread I have ever had too. St. Pats was a week later so I didn't buy it figuring I would get it the following week. I got to my car, the caraway hit and I immediately went back to purchase a loaf. I ate some, froze the rest and served it at St. Pats dinner and everyone raved about it. I also served, to more rave reviews, a chocolate pudding pie I ordered from Chocolate in the Oven (my Dad's favorite dessert). It was decadent. Absolutely delish with a graham cracker crust and dollops of whipped cream. Highly recommend Chocolate in the Oven!!!
