Great place to have a good cup of coffee. The setting is country kitch, but it works, and it felt very warm and inviting inside, including friendly service. The baked goods were excellent, and people seemed to be enjoying the cooked breakfasts. I didn't actually order any food or drink here but I did purchase some coffee and I was fairly intrigued by this place. From the outside it's pretty unassuming it says homestead on the front of the building and another sign says general store. When you walk in there's a cute little gift like shop to your right , to the left is some refrigerators with drinks and cold food/ etc. there's a large table and some shelving in front of the counter with more goodies. At the counter you can order food/coffee/ I believe they even had ice cream ; you can purchase lottery tickets and cigarettes. There's a little tiny seating area in the back that looks warm and cozy. The place is very inviting, such a small town establishment and I love it! I can't wait to try the coffee I bought and to try some food If I'm in the area again. Homestead to me is very much a special occasion kind of place. Why? The obvious is that it's a good 45-ish minute hike and also because there is really nothing here for me personally. My wife likes their coffee as do a few co-workers which is why I make the trip down here a few times a year. The store is basically set up in three parts. Part one is their small dining area which I've never seen used but then again I usually show up later in the day and in the more distant past they kept later hours which is also when I would show up. I assume that during breakfast time especially on the weekends this is busier? Part two is the main area where you can place food orders, get stuff from their grab and go coolers and order ice cream. Part three is the side area where they have seasonal items to purchase and their coffees. Prices for the bags of coffee are very expensive but considering both where you're at (Bucks County) and what you're buying it's to be expected. I hate coffee but the people I buy it for say that it's good which is why I keep coming back. If you decide to come, the store is located right off of the canal path and it's very close to River Road (hell of a scenic drive) and Ringing Rocks (www.yelp.com/biz/ringing-rocks-park-upper-black-eddy). Hours are currently daily 8-4, so get there early. (Not that I want to touch the 3rd rail here on what another Yelper mentioned, but during the height of the pandemic I was in here two or three times and it's true that PA's mask policy was completely disregarded. It offers an intimate setting on a slow weekday morning. Homestead Coffee Roasters has a gift shop offers handmade country cottage decor, candles, jewelry, candy, fresh pastries & muffins, and various types of jerky. The dining area offers a homey and cozy atmosphere with a coffee/tea bar and non-working but decorative fireplace. Some tables are re-purposed Singer sewing machines that add an eclectic and Victorian character to the seating areas. The staff is friendly and accommodating. The breakfast menu gives you all the comforts of home from classic pancakes, waffles, and french toast, to eggs and home fries (my fave!) and more. Quickly has become my favorite place! Everyone is SO friendly here! A local spot to bump into a neighbor, or meet a new friend. I love their country store, and always buy a new soap or something. My parents love their coffee. I'm partial to the egg salad sandwich which I enjoy eating outside with a nice view of the canal. Don't miss the little (big) library stand in the parking lot. Charming little place. Great vibe the minute you walk in. Worth stopping in bc it is not the kind of place you find in a metropolitan area. It kinda completes and adds a nice touch to your drive through the country roads. Place your food order at the counter, shop around the country style Knickknacks, coffees, jellies etc. and then pick a table in one of several rooms or outside as you wait for your made to order food. We arrived just as breakfast was ending and lunch was starting. This was my first time at this place, I wasn't sure the lay of the land...I didn't know where to place order, menu was confusing and the woman taking orders seemed overwhelmed. The second girl behind that same counter was eating a wrap or sandwich of some type while preparing food. I am certain this was a food violation. Even though I was quite surprised to see her eating her lunch while preparing food I chose to ignore it. It is a "country store" after all. We placed our order...Hubby ordered eggs, sausage, potatoes and toast. I ordered a build your own panini of tuna and cheese. We were given #2 to place on our table as food is brought out once they prepare it. After we placed our order we seemed to be ahead of a small lunch rush. Our food was brought to our table in a timely manner. We moved from the larger room to the porch area to get away from two very loud and winy children at the next table. My panini was delicious. Perfectly grilled and just the right crispy texture. As I was leaving I noticed another panini being served with pickles...hmm...no pickles on my plate...darn...I like pickles. Hubby enjoyed his breakfast but didn't care for the seasoned potatoes. Would have preferred no seasoning. I tasted and thought they were very good. I guess you can't please everyone. The pastries are delicious from their homemade cookies to their breakfast cake's. Their coffee is fantastic and always have a large selection. My parents first met on a hike along the Delaware Canal that stopped at Homestead for lunch so this adorable coffee shop/cafe has been an annual stop for our family for the past 30 years. We've loved every visit. Homestead is conveniently located for people hiking and biking along the canal. They have a gift shop section with coffee beans, apparel, and housewares for sale. There is indoor and outdoor patio seating, benches along the canal, and a friendly cat that can often be spotted outside. We usually get sandwiches but during our last visit I got a delicious breakfast special of quiche, potatoes, and toast (pictured). My whole family gets pumpkin ice cream every visit since it is the best pumpkin ice cream we've ever had! read more

Fantastic coffee. Roasted pretty much right before they set it out on the shelf for sale. I've purchased several pounds from them over the last year. No matter what else I drink, I keep coming back to them. What do I drink? The Dead Man's Brew. Dark, smoky, and definitely gives you a kick in the a$% in the morning to get going. I discovered this place back in February. I am always on the hunt for new and local roasters in the Bucks County area. When you first walk into the Homestead General Store you are greeted by a lot of action in a little space. Up to the left is the original coffee roaster and bagged coffee or coffee by weight. Straight ahead is the deli counter (past that is an outdoor deck "eating/sitting" area - and to the left is a "dining" area separated by a brick fireplace. Good sandwiches and decent prices. Anyway on the important part .... the coffee ..... The owners now roast in the barn behind the actual general store. I got to walk through the barn with the owner (very nice guy - was willing to answer questions about his coffee background, where they source their beans, etc.). Nice operation they have going (Topher roaster) ....... I have tried: River Valley blend - nice medium roast; Dead Man's Brew - decent dark roast that can double for both press-pot or espresso (note: this coffee opens up on the back end and gives it a "bite"); Breakfast Blend - good light-medium roast to start the day; Black Eddy's Darkness - dark roast good for espresso; and Homestead's Own - medium roast good for everyday drip coffee. Overall I like these guys and what they roast. They do sell in bulk and Similar to House of Coffee in Peddler's Village have a Buy 6 bags (12 oz) get one free card system going. They have decent pricing most of the different coffee varieties are coming in at about $10 for 12 oz. If you are in the area stop in a check them out ..... and then cross the bridge to Milford, NJ and have a pint at The Ship Inn. That's a good day right there ........ read more

This is a great little general store with a warm atmosphere... I've only been here for breakfast and that's all it took for me to give it a 5-star review. For starters, one of my favorites are the homemade waffles which are light and fluffy on the inside with that perfect golden outside... Some of the best I've ever had. The best thing they have (in my opinion) is the baked oatmeal with fresh blueberries... All you need to do is pour in some milk or half and half then mix it around and you have one of the best breakfasts around. It sticks to your ribs and leaves you feeling just full enough. The crown jewel of this place are their roasted coffees... Their 'homestead's own' is crisp, smooth, and a perfect morning blend. Came here twice while on a bike trip to Ringing Rocks Park and loved it more with each visit. With the coffee, you can taste the love for their beans in each roast. I met the Roaster, and he was a super chill dude. I also got to meet the manager and owner, who were chilling with the morning newspaper drinking their coffee in the morning. Man, they know how to live. And I'm going to sound a little corny, but I think their appreciation for every moment comes out in their coffee, in how they appreciate every bean. I tried their Arise and took a bag of their Guatemalan Bourbon home, despite the fact that carrying an extra 3/4 lbs. 50 miles home on a bike isn't nothing. I savored every drop. I was living in Philly at the time and now in NYC. They don't ship to NYC yet, but I'm planning another 40 mile bike trip to one of their distributors in Jersey. Yeah, it's that good. Homestead General Store was an awesome find on a recent mini-holiday. Aside from what the two previous reviewers have already said, I can offer this additional information: The patio at the back of the store offered a perfect spot for us to pull up our bikes (there is a lovely path along the canal that runs behind the store), grab a table, and cool off with some chilled beverages. I ordered an iced coffee and it came with ICE CUBES MADE OF COFFEE!!!!! Had I not loved the coffee so much that I slurped it down at light speed, I know I would have been pleased that the cubes didn't water down my brew. As such, I am deeming this THE MOST EXCITING ICED COFFEE I'VE EVER HAD!!!! (Hence all the caps and exclamation marks... obviously) I went back twice the following day, once get my morning jolt with another coffee, and again to pick up some sandwiches before our tubing excursion down the Delaware. Service was friendly each time, and the sandwiches were delicious. I'd be lying if I said Homestead General Store wasn't just one of the reasons I'm trying to convince my family to go back for a repeat 4-day-weekend. read more

I've had the pleasure to enjoy their coffee now for a few years at a local Bethlehem breakfast spot. My wife and I finally made a visit to their general store/restuarant and roastery. What a super lil place! It's like turning back the clock 50 years and eating at your grandma's farmhouse. They have eggs/omelettes, pancakes, breakfast sandwiches, and breakfast sides available. The food is delish and well priced. The general store is full of old timey candies and such, as well as bags of their ground or whole bean coffee. This is for just the Homestead Coffee Roasters, NOT the General Store. I'm a serious coffee person. Whole bean only. I'd have to try some other blends. I wanted to get a good deal, so I bought the 25lb bag of something that was dark and acidic. Yuck. I couldn't wait to get rid of it. I'd probably have better luck with a breakfast blend. It's worth it just for the convenience. Pricewise, they seem a little cheaper than Peddlers Village (but good lord, who isn't?), but a LOT more expensive than comparable blends from my favorite coffee store on Bleecker in NYC. I take my coffee kinda seriously, folks. I've bought every possible selection of coffee from every whole bean seller in the area. Now I'm drinking organic, fair trade and bird friendly only. And I think that for a small local roaster, the prices are a little high. But I'll probably buy their coffee to sample new blends, just because they are so close to me. read more

Great little gem at the bottom of the mountain hill! Best coffee ever. I bought a few bags of their own whole coffee beans and made a cup this morning at home! WOW! I found the staff to be friendly and felt like I was at my Grandma's house!! There is a friendly house dog and cat that roam around. I am not a dog lover but he seemed very nicely mannered, friendly and not aggressive at all!! They make their own ice cream and have sandwiches. Good food! Really cute place! Very cozy, community oriented.. they sell their own roasted coffee along with books from local authors and other local goods. Homemade baked goods, and a great chip selection. After reading reviews, I wanted to try the baked oatmeal with blueberries. I was disappointed when I ordered and I was told they ran out of berries. :( Quickly, I decided I didn't want to order anything and figured I just have my tea. But as I walked thru the store I noticed they had nuts. I went to the counter and asked if they could make the baked oatmeal with nuts and cinnamon. The girl behind the counter was very helpful and said she did have some nuts, showing me a container of walnuts and she said, yes. I have to say, it was the BEST OATMEL I have ever had, hands down. I still wish they had the berries, but the walnuts and cinnamon on top, YUM! I would go back just for their baked oatmeal. If your an oatmeal fan- or if your not- you've got to try the baked oatmeal at HCR. Can't wait to go back for some more. read more
