I drove over to Nichole's coffee stand/bakery about a week before my husband's birthday to order a little over a dozen cupcakes. She had so many flavors to pick from and I ended up going with German Chocolate Cake and Peanut Butter Cup. Our party was on Sunday and since Sweet Pearl Bakery is closed Sunday, Nichole said she would make the cupcakes fresh late on Saturday so they would still be fresh and delicious for the party. I arrived Saturday at 5pm and she gave me simple instructions to keep the cupcakes fresh overnight. She even threw in an extra cupcake for free! Everyone absolutely loved both flavors and my husband has now decided he would like the German Chocolate cupcakes or cake every year for his birthday! I luckily found this place right before they closed, and I am so glad I did find this place because it made my birthday dessert spectacular! At first, finding this place was a slight struggle, but once did find it, you probably wouldn't expect them to sell desserts because they look like a cute little coffee shop. Even though it was almost closing time, there were still a decent amount of desserts to choose from all the way from cookies, brownies, and their delicious cupcakes! The lady behind the counter was extremely sweet and nice, and seemed like she really appreciated us being there, even though they were about to close. Plus, it was pretty cool that our birthdays were within a week of each other's. She also gave me a little candle since it was my birthday! Now, the cupcakes really impressed me. They were above my initial expectations! One of the cupcakes was vanilla, with a vanilla buttercream, topped with festive and cute sprinkles. This cupcake was super airy and fluffy, but this was probably my least favorite because I am not a vanilla person, but the clams itself, not regarding the flavor was very good. Next, there was a chocolate cupcakes with vanilla and strawberry buttercream, topped with a cherry. This cupcake was probably my favorite, aesthetically speaking, because it was the most colorful, and reminded me of an ice cream sundae. I really wish there was more of that strawberry buttercream because it was just so delicious, and had such a vibrant strawberry flavoring. It tasted exactly like a strawberry pocky stick! Again, the vanilla buttercream on this cupcake was really good as well. I do have to add though, that on every cupcake, the frosting was very very dry, but the cake part on all of them were still fluffy and soft. I'm judging them all off of the flavor however. The last two cupcakes are a snickerdoodle cupcake with vanilla buttercream, topped with a small snickerdoodle cookie, and a dark chocolate cupcake with vanilla buttercream, topped with littke chocolate chips. These two were both my favorite ones of the night, but I can't decide which one is better. I also have to add that I'm not 100% sure if every cupcake had vanilla buttercream, but that is just what I think it is. Anyways, I love the snickerdoodle cupcake because, well... every single component tasted just like a snickerdoodle! The cake part tasted just like a snickerdoodle, and I was actually expecting it to be like a vanilla flavor, but it was a delicious snickerdoodle flavor which was very airy, soft, and fluffy. The buttercream was also creamy and slightly tasted like snickerdoodle. The cookie on top was a perfect addition, and added another element with the soft, chewy, and crunchy texture of the snickerdoodle cookie. Finally, the chocolate cupcake, probably my favorite one because I love chocolate! This one was definetly the most dense cupcake, but I was surprised by how rich the cupcake was! It was so delicious and tasty, and I would say it was luscious! Overall, every cupcake was very solid, and exceeded expectations. I am so glad I found this place, because I will definetly come back for more, and it is always nice to support a small local buisness! read more

I always drive bye sweet pearl bakery so I decided to drive up and inquire about a custom cake for my sons 6th birthday. I asked her if she could make a Lego cake and from the start she sounding confident in the design. After talking details she told me to message her the photo and details we talked about. The email she gave me didn't work so I messaged her through Facebook. Her response time was not great- that should have been the first red flag indicator. Finally was able to finalize all the details. She seemed confident in replicating it. I was excited, this being my first time ordering a fun design custom cake. Day of birthday - my husband goes to pick up the cake. It looks nothing like the photo I gave her. I don't think I would have minded it being a little different if I felt like she put more effort into it. Honestly I feel I could have decorated this cake better. I was hoping the taste of the cake would redeem it. But unfortunately it was dry and tasted like she baked it a couple days prior. Really disappointed. I don't usually like to spend $75 (plus tax) on cakes. This being the reason I'm not a happy customer. I don't recommend her for custom cakes. read more

Sweet Pearl Cinnamon Rolls are much better than the competition. I've tried in cinnamon rolls at several Edmonds stores, a popular LFP bakery, and two bakeries in north Seattle. I'm very unhappy with having to write this review. After waiting for this shop to open in our neighborhood we have stopped REPEATEDLY for cupcakes only to be told, sorry, "all I have is a cake slice" or "Sorry! I don't have ANY CUPCAKES". What? You're open for business, your lights are on, you're a CUPCAKE SHOP but you have ZERO cupcakes? Or merely one leftover from another order? We gave her a year to ramp up and figure things out. I've tried stopping by during the week, at noon on a Saturday, other weekend times thinking maybe she bakes in the morning so I'll try afternoon. Also we've tried after school, at least five times I brought my kids, walked to the window only to have to load up and get back in the car and go across the street to Starbucks. Evenings are a bust too. One time a stop resulted in cupcakes and that was in her first month of opening, since then, nope. I'm super bummed. I always want to support a new, local business but literally, there are rarely any cupcakes to purchase. If you can catch her on Facebook, you can place orders. There's no phone number so it's still hit or miss process as to if/when she'll get back to you. If you want a cake/cupcakes, build in ample time for a special order AND you'll have to do all the work chasing it down. She's really sweet. I feel for her. She needs a small business mentor. DESPERATELY. The cupcakes are very good but nothing over the top unique. I would be willing to message her via Facebook to check for inventory before heading over, IF she answered messages quickly (she doesn't). And customers can't call. So as of now, we don't go there and consider it a custom order Bakery, not a real cupcake shop. read more

At about 1:45 on Dec 1 I waited to place my order for a 16 oz mocha. When I got to the window I mentioned to the barista that while waiting I heard what sounded like an extended conversation between her and another customer and asked if she was waiting on that customer during their talking. She said she was, and I simply said I was sorry for asking and thanked her for clarifying this for me. I assumed that was the end of it. But for some reason (?) she just wouldn't drop it. She told me twice more that she had been waiting on the other customer. I assured her each time that "I understand" and "That's fine." It momentarily occurred to me that perhaps she just wanted to assure me 100% so that I wouldn't retain a negative feeling of the place or complain to someone. But she still persisted. From a spot on the other side of the stand, about 10 feet from me, she continued talking, though it was hard to make out what she was saying. It turned that it was a repeat of "Yes, I was waiting on the customer" and a statement that she actually hadn't finished waiting on him but that he had told her to go ahead and serve me and he would wait. She said that the other customer really should be thanked for letting me be served. When I didn't respond she asked me directly if I was going to thank him. I was bothered that she would pressure me like this when of course I should just be allowed to make up my own mind on how I cared to act, so I said "no". At that she rushed across the room and basically told me that I couldn't treat her like that and that she wasn't going to wait on people like me and she closed the window and walked away. The incident struck me as bizarre but was probably just an illustration of how the simplest interactions can escalate into something ugly. read more

It bothers me to leave a negative review during these hard times for small businesses, but I've had to chase this business down to try to give them business to no avail. It is my son's 2nd birthday and we wanted to place a cupcake order through a local baker instead of a chain establishment. I reached out by phone and email a week in advance of our family outdoor gathering. After a few days I received an email back with flavor options. I replied immediately with my choices and affirmation to proceed with order, only to have no reply back, at all. I told her when I needed them and she never mentioned it wouldn't be able to get done, just nothing. I waited, expecting to hear back from her, but then had to scramble to make other plans bc most places have an order deadline. This same exact scenario also happened to me last year with a small birthday cake and it had slipped my mind. I would say, don't waste your time trying to place an order and this place must just be an espresso stand? I'm pretty confused as I still haven't heard any follow up even knowing the event date has passed. Horrible way to run a business that neighbors try to support. read more

This was already one of my favorite bakeries because of the amazing cinnamon rolls and the baker (Nichole, I think) is so kind! I stopped by a couple weeks ago with my three-year-old to order a cake for her birthday. My daughter wanted a strawberry cake with strawberry filling and strawberry frosting, and Nichole helped us pick out the design. It was such a fun and special outing for my daughter. We picked up the cake this weekend, and not only was it beautiful, but it was SO incredibly delicious! My favorite part was the strawberry buttercream frosting -- I don't think it's easy to get buttercream to taste like fresh strawberries, but this really did! It was the most perfectly flavored and moist cake with a sinfully sugary cream cheese frosting. This local business was discussed a lot in many neighborhood facebook group I was in and I really really wanted to try their cake and work with them. A lot of people in my neighborhood sounds adoring them. And here i am today, It's heart breaking but i have to give them 1 star. I was planning a party for my friend and about a month ago I contacted them through facebook if they can make some custom cake for my event. I provided them well advance timeline. I contacted them 1 month before the event date. No response. I followed up again couple days later, no response. While they are shutting down my inquiry they have been uploaded few photos and posts on facebook so i assume it's not that they are not checking facebook massage or out of business. Weeks go by, I was still no cake for my party and I had to give another try so I emailed them. NO RESPONSE. What the heck?! At least tell me you are busy and you can't make custom cake. Don't shut down your customers inquiry like that. It's really disappointing and frustrating. read more

Love this bakery and coffee shop! My bf lives around the corner so I often find myself walking over for coffee and perhaps a sweet treat while working from home. The woman who staffs and I believe owns the stand is always super friendly. So far we've tried her brownies, carrot cake and cinnamon rolls which were all to die for! The cinnamon rolls however are probably my favorite if I had to pick just one. Prices are totally reasonable and when I need a quadruple shot mocha to power through a project, I'm not charged an exorbitant amount like other coffee shops. If you're in the area, swing by and support your local coffee shop/bakery. You won't regret it! read more

Ok i just happened on to this drive up bakery in search for esspresso thinking that it was just that the typical mediocre at best non bikini drive-thru coffee stand when I saw that it was being billed as a bakery,I wasn't sure what to think but I spied the espresso machine and decided to check it out. Not only was the espresso that I ordered delicious "perfectly pulled"also rare to find these days in Seattlet the cookies that I ordered we're phenomenal as well,and very reasonably priced I wanted to order one of the cupcakes but they were not ready yet. But the best part of the experience where's the service I received from the bakery owner I'm not sure if that was her real name or if she was just letting me believe it was after I asked her if she was Pearl. Regardless she was a true delight as sincere and genuine as ever can find even a rare thing to find in Seattle or anywhere for that matter. I was to be In was in the area for the day.. so before I left for home I stopped in again and got another wonderful espresso, double shot over ice splash of cream a little sugar, and cupcakes are ready and very reasonably price standing out in the land in the land of arm and leg cupcake stores and they were delicious I had the vanilla vanilla I bought a strawberry lemonade for a friend who loved it as well this place is a gem and so is the owner I would recommend it to anybody who appreciates proper espresso delicious baked goods and the unexpected Joy it is to encounter such a genuine person . This review is for the friendly service and the espresso. My wife and I prefer our coffee simple, and on a warm spring day like today we wanted espresso over ice, nothing more. We parked and walked up and talked to the barista (who I believe is the owner & baker) and she was incredibly friendly. She made our drinks and then asked us how they were, was it the right amount of ice, etc. Her espresso pulls were delicious! Quite simply, Sweet Pearl's cinnamon rolls may be the best you've ever tasted. They are never doughy, yet never dry. The frosting is perfect. The first time I bought two for my wife and me, I ate mine first then ate hers before she tried it because it was so dang good (which was a bad idea on a number of levels). My mother-in-law now buys them whenever she is in town. I took them to work to share with a professional events staff, and they were talking about them days later. While cinnamon rolls are almost always good, they're hard to get just right. Sweet Pearl gets them right, and really there should be a line out the door to pick them up. I almost hesitate to write this review...because inventory can run out really quickly, and when people start to catch on I might not be able to get my supply. read more

Sweet pearl finally showed up two hours after the event had started and our substitute cake had been consumed. They really had no explanation. We declined their cake and requested a refund.
