Beautiful shop with the friendliest staff. They have chocolates, coffee, and gelato. I am not in the area very often, but whenever I am in the area, I always stop by. Their chocolates are outstanding, and their gelato is tasty. If I can't decide what to get or I don't really want anything, then I still buy a small package of chocolate peanut clusters. No regrets because I eventually find myself in the mood on another day. They even have huge chocolate sculptures. I can't imagine who buys them. But I've decided... this year I will buy an obnoxiously huge chocolate sculpture for my holiday party. And we will smash it and eat it at the end of the party. It will be glorious. read more

This chocolate is to die for! Get in there and experience it for yourself. They have a lovely point system to earn free chocolate. They also have ice cream/gelato (never tried it) and a coffee bar. The espresso drinks are yummy, especially if you sit and enjoy it with a pice of chocolate. Staff are very friendly and knowledgeable. They recently rearranged and there is more seating, which is excellent for taking in the tin ceiling from the early part of the last century. Highly recommend! read more

Good chocolate but bad coffee. Ive tried Stam a few times and the chocolates are wonderful but the coffee drinks (dirty chai, americano and even drip coffee) are always very watery. I would recommend a different stop for coffee. read more

The tiramisu latte doesn't taste like much, and the topping is just whipped cream when I was expecting a marscapone based topping. However, service was great as was their chocolates. I would just skip the coffee next time. read more

Such a cute little shop in the downtown Lafayette area. Plenty of parking. The gelato is amazing! We had mango, lemon, grapefruit, and cinnamon cookie butter. The cinnamon cookie butter had crazy cinnamon flavor but wasn't spicy. The grapefruit was my favorite it had such a strong grapefruit flavor but it wasn't too tart. The other flavors were also good. If you eat there you can eat the gelato in these cute dishes that was such a nice experience because usually if you get gelato you eat out of the plastic cup even if you eat there. They weigh their chocolates which I really like because it actually makes the chocolates really affordable for a chocolate shop like this. Would definitely come back. They didn't have many people working which made checking out and then getting chocolates and gelato kind of be a long process if there's a rush of people getting stuff. read more

All the chocolates are high quality and there's a great variety of flavors in both milk & dark varieties. The price is reasonable for the product. Everyone is friendly and helpful (and patient while you decide). The sign makes it sound like they have two locations, Amsterdam & Lafayette, which would be really weird and is not the case: it's a franchise model that started in Iowa descended from a family business that had roots in Amsterdam. read more

I loved that they not only offer prepackaged candies, but you can choose individual assortments of bonbons as well. Okay, Willy Wonka is definitely back there! I've been back a few times, now. I've had more chocolates, I've finally tried the gelato, and I've dreamed of trying their hot chocolate on a cold day. Everything is still very GOLDEN TICKET, worthy. So why update my review? Because I finally remembered to take a photo of the beautiful, creamy, sweet and gobble-able chocolate! My husband and I stopped in on Valentine's Day to pick up some special chocolate bites for dessert. We had an absolute blast exploring the old-fashioned store. It always feels like you are stepping back into time when you go, and I imagine would be a charming first date for anyone looking to do something unique. After promenading the shop, we decided to shoot our shot with an assortment of bon bons. Fun fact, bon bons mean a molded chocolate shell with creamy ganache center. Personally, this is my favorite way to do it because it's engaging and fun to choose the chocolate you want to try! We chose a Cream White Chocolate designed as a cute mouse, a Cream Dark Chocolate designed as an adorable hedgehog, a Hazelnut Cream Dark Chocolate designed as a windmill, a Mocha Cream Dark Chocolate designed as an elevated square and a mystery cream (because we forgot what we ordered lol) molded in a tasty tree. Shout out to the young woman helping us, she answered all our questions and was super kind. Truthfully, though. I've never had bad service here. Every chocolate tier has been very knowledgeable of Stam's products and good-natured to the customers. We'd rate every experience we've shared here a 10 for 10! A wonderful chocolaterie with great hours to satisfy an after dinner sweet tooth or meet up for coffee and chocolate with a friend. My visit was short but sweet , with just a handful of bon bons - coconut, crème brûlée, butterscotch, marzipan. All delightful. I appreciated that they had dark, milk and white chocolate options as I know some places really look down upon white chocolate. The ganache centers are unique to what I have had in my limited experience of other chocolateries they are more like a soft candy "dough" (for lack of a better word,) than a runny caramel. Which may be the distinction as a European/Dutch style chocolaterie. I look forward to returning to sample more chocolates, coffee and their gelato options. read more

After moving to Lafayette a year ago, we've probably been into Stam once a week ever since. They have so many delicious gelatos that are non dairy if you're vegan or have a dairy sensitivity. The line and grapefruit are our household faves. The ambience is like something out of Harry Potter- think creaky wooden floors, smells of chocolate wafting through the air, and sometimes they even have a pianist there (the way sound resonates through the establishment makes this even more wonderful) The gelato is frankly underpriced compared to other local "ice cream shops" but I hope they keep it that way because it's like a little piece of magic right in our neighborhood. We always get extraordinary service- the staff is friendly and efficient if a bit quiet (this isn't Trader Joe's- I don't need to tell them my entire life story after all) Definitely recommend you go in and buy some chocolates for later and gelato for now. Then take your gelato to slowly enjoy on a walk through town to enjoy the artwork and murals or sit and enjoy it on a bench outside in the sun- either way you'll be glad you did. read more

We were able to get a gelato cone, cappuccino and 5 chocolates for $15. My husband thought the pumpkin pie gelato was delicious and the chocolates were creamy and flavorful. And recently they started doing "gelato paninis" where they take a donut, fill it with gelato and press in on a panini press, it's sooo good. I hope they keep this going forward.
