I came here for a pedicure and they completely destroyed my foot. The man was not paying attention and rubbed it way too hard. Once he finally noticed that my foot was bleeding a lot, he accused me of coming into the shop with a wound already. They also threw the instruments that had my blood on it in with other clean tools without cleaning them. Usually they are nice here but I was very unhappy with my service. read more

Ok, after 3 failed attempts at this salon, I believe it's finally time to write a review so that Yelpers aren't misled by the high rating. I used to live up the hill and go to my favorite salon in Cameron Park. A year ago I moved into the Folsom area and have since been on a search for a place closer to my new home. I kept trying Choice because of the reviews, but each time I end up completely baffled. Before I get to my experiences, a note on the salon itself: some places make you feel like you've stepped into a renaissance ballroom or Tahitian paradise or a upscale lounge...this place has little to no décor, no theme or any distinguishing features that make you feel like you've "stepped away from reality" or something. Moving on... The first time was probably 6-8 months ago and I went in for a gel manicure. The selection of colors is limited and I tend to like nude/tan tones on my nails. I picked one and it ended up this god awful mustard-yellow gold (nothing like the example nail). Ew. The last thing I need on my nails is baby puke. Apparently I chose an LED polish and they only have UV top and base coats (or vice versa, I can't remember), so I had to keep switching lights every time she did a coat. How inconvenient! The massage wasn't thorough (and frankly if the massage isn't good, I'll just do my nails at home) and she didn't put enough lotion/oil on my skin so she was just rubbing my skin raw. At the end she charged my credit card and (since then they've changed this) there was no line to add a tip. I didn't have any cash on me so I had to ask her to run my card again for the tip, which was extremely awkward. The second time was about a month ago and I went in for a pedicure. They always have "$5 off any pedicure" so you think you're getting a deal if you upgrade. Of course I fell for it and got the pedicure that was one step up from the basic. It was weird because the one I got seemed pretty basic to me and I can't imagine what could possibly be taken away for the $20 pedicure. I spent $25 (originally $30! What a deal!). The chair was horrid. I don't know if it was old and the cushioning had gone down over the years or if they just suck. Either way, my bum was hurting almost immediately and it was like sitting on plywood. The pedicure itself was nothing fancy, I did not like how the color turned out yet again (and their selection of regular polishes is limited as well). Also the polish started chipping within a few days. Wtf? The third and final time I went was less than a week ago. I happened to have a weekday off work and went in just before 10 AM. I think it's great they open at 9:30 because I like to get my errands done early. Well, I walk in and see 3 people sitting in pedicure chairs and 2 employees. One girl was working on the first woman and the other girl was sort of directing traffic. She asked if I had an appointment and I said, "no"...I really didn't think I'd need an appointment at 10 on a Tuesday morning, ya know? Who goes that early? Retirees and stay-at-home moms? It didn't really strike me as prime pedi time. She told me she couldn't fit me in until 11:45 and asked IF THAT WAS OK. You're kidding right? An hour and 45 minutes? No, that's not ok. So I turned around and left. I guess I'll just have to buck up and pay the bit extra in gas money to go to the salon I like. This place is mediocre at best and only gets by from these reviews...which are seriously deluded. read more

Walked in on a Saturday afternoon and it looked busy, however, we only had to wait 5 minutes to be seated for our pedis. They were all very nice and accommodating. I treated my Mom to a Deluxe pedi for her birthday that included hot stone massage, scrub, mask, and paraffin wax for $40. I got the classic for $25 that had the regular massage and foot scrub, but still totally worth it. They didn't rush the service and we got to relax in the massage chairs and really enjoy the pampering. I will definitely be back! read more

I asked for acrylics with slight coffin shape and I got poorly done nails; they were both straight and round and uneven- all of which I absolutely did not want. And when I asked for a nail to be fixed because of the wonky shape, I was ignored and it was never fixed. Also I did not come in with the intent of getting gel acrylics, but I was forced into getting them. Just got a gel polish manicure, and I love it! I had two nails that had broken down super low, and Kylie used acrylic to add length and shape them so they would match my other nails. And she did a great job listening to what I wanted and hand painting on little hearts for Valentine's Day. The little gems on the alternating nails are super cute! Oh, and after she was done with my nails, she did a little arm and hand massage, what a nice treat! Not everyone does that. I highly recommend Kylie! read more

This shop has gone downhill. Tony has continuously overbooked/overlapped too many appointments at one time and does not dedicate his time toward the clients who took the time to make appointments. The very next day, after having Tony put a full-set of nails on. Two nails from my new acrylic set snapped and became unsightly. Tony is always defensive about his work and will not work with a client to repair newly broken nails. Too many walk-ins make this shop intolerable to visit. I will never patronize this shop again and certainly will never recommend Tony to any friends or relatives. My business, will go elsewhere from this point not forward. I gave this place four out of five stars because four out of five times I'm pleased with my pedicure job. There's been a few times the paint was a little sloppy but I think it was lack of experience, not laziness or hurriedness. That's actually pretty good considering I seem to have a different gal each time. If I would request someone I have had in the past and stick to her I would be golden but I'm usually in a hurry so I just go with whoever is available right away. All the ladies (and one gentleman) are supper nice, only one gal put on the pressure for extra services and made me feel bad for not going with the deluxe which usually most other places do. They do a thorough pedicure including massage and lotion and this very hot black rock/stone on your legs and callus work. I always bring my own polish so I can touch up at home if needed. Price was average but sometimes they run $5 off deals on pedicures. I'm sure there are other nice places but this ones close to home and 4 out 5 is pretty good for the price. read more

I really wanted to love them.. they were really nice and have great customer service. But the downside was that the acrylic didn't completely cover my whole nail and multiple of my nails, and the fingers were COVERED in superglue.... they didn't clean the glue and extra acrylic from under the nails either. So I gave them a 3 out of 5 because customer service was great and the price was reasonable! But I don't know if I'll be back. read more

This is my first time posting a review on anything but i think whatever I experienced yesterday should not happen again to anyone. I'm new in Folsom and I went to the place because of the great reviews on yelp. The girl who did my pedicure and manicure spoke good English and was nice; however, she did not know how to trim or cut or shape nails properly. She almost cut my skin under the nails several times. I told her I wanted square-shaped nails but she cut the edges of nails too sharp that it looked like I could make someone bleed if I really wanted to. I literally had to show (my previously cut nails from elsewhere) her how I wanted my nails to be shaped. It was a bit shocking because I had never experienced anything like that before. Anyways, I let go of it since the girl was nice. I asked for polka dots on one nail and wanted to put a ribbon design on one other nail (could not decide whether I wanted to put a 3D nail ribbon or a design). I really liked the polka dot design that the girl did for me so I asked for a ribbon design on the other nail. For some reason, she could not design it right or make the ribbon even for the longest time. Finally, other lady came (Kylie) and tried to fix it. And i thought she knew what kind of ribbon I wanted since they spoke Vietnamese before she sat down in front of me. The girl simply told me that now Kylie was going to help me with the ribbon and I understood. Apparently, Kylie had no idea what type of ribbon i wanted and she didn't even ask. She just started designing. It was still uneven and the edges were not smooth at all. I could tell that she was getting frustrated after messing up the design a couple of times as her face was getting red. She then asked me if I had a picture of what I liked. I showed her a picture of the 3D ribbon design I liked (and I had already shown the girl, who originally helped me, the type of ribbon I wanted). She said it cannot be done because it's 3D and designed one more ribbon and very annoyingly said "if this is not what you want, I don't know what to do." By then, I didn't care anymore. I was there for 3 hours and I did not want to stay there anymore. After Kylie put the top coat on my nails (she didn't even do a good job on it as some dust got stuck under the top coat that I can't even get rid of it now), she got up and left to the back room. The girl, who helped me from the beginning, sat in front of me again and gave me a hand massage. She kind of sensed that I was not happy and said politely, "Sorry, there was a misunderstanding". I felt bad for the girl because I know she was trying to be helpful. Nonetheless, I really did not like Kylie's attitude and how Kylie treated me. Seriously, how hard it is to design/draw one ribbon on one nail? It took them about an hour for one simple ribbon design. So yeah, I WILL NOT RETURN. read more

This place is truly great! I was in town from NY for a few days to visit family and to be a part of my friend's wedding and needed to get a mani/pedi. This placed had great reviews and happened to be close to where I was running errands so I decided to check them out. From the minute I walked in I noted how friendly all the employees were! Everyone says hello and asks how you are and strikes up a conversation in no time. I met Amber first and she started my pedicure and she took the time to introduce herself, ask me how I was, what my name was, etc. The pedicure was great- the classic pedicure was $20 and they take their time to massage your feet and legs, scrub your feet, use hot stones and warm washcloths- so nice! but because my ride was waiting for me outside I decided to return the following day for a gel manicure. When I came back the following day, Amber totally remembered me, thanked me for coming back, and asked me more about my friends wedding- so very personal. My gel manicure was performed by Lien and she did a fabulous job!! This was my first time getting a gel manicure and I was truly impressed. She took her time with each step and was very friendly and pleasant throughout the whole process. I also noticed that many of the customers there that day were regulars and seemed to know the different ladies that work here- a good sign of consistent high quality work! Another plus was the gel manicures here were $25! A deal coming from NY/NJ where many places charge ~ $40. Overall a great experience, I'm truly happy with my pedicure and gel manicure and am impressed with the friendly atmosphere at this place. My 2 daughters and myself went in on Sunday evening. The Salon was fairly busy but they sat us at the pedicure tubs right away. The water was cold! I asked one of the ladies to warm it up for me, which she did, rather rudely. The girl who did my pedicure raced through it and was done while my daughters were just midway into theirs even though we had all started at the same time. She then started on my manicure and appeared to be in such a hurry to get done, that she nicked my cuticle till it started bleeding. She said she was sorry and stuck some cotton soaked in something on it till it stopped bleeding. She then continued to race through the Classic Manicure and was done in 20 minutes. She then left me sitting without asking me to dry my toe nails under the drying table as I sat waiting for my girls to get done. My daughters also had similar experiences. The staff, except for one woman, appear to be lacking in training. We are not convinced that they all have the required certification to work in a nail salon. This is the worst salon that we have ever been to. The owner just kept taking everyone that walked in even though they didn't seem to have adequate staff and were doing a poor job of servicing the clients they already had there. By far the worse place I have ever gotten my nails done. 100% unprofessional! I would give zero stars if I could. I usually don't complain about my bad nail experiences but this one is ridiculous. I go into get a gel manicure and this older lady does my nails. She left cuts on my skin with the cuticle clippers. She didn't shape them even. She puts the gel polish on and puts it on really sloppy misses a lot of spots. After the second/ third coat its just sloppy and bumpy. Another lady noticed the look on my face came over and added another coat and said that looks better. At this point the polish is thick bumpy and just sloppy on my nails. I went to beauty school and have had my nails done with gel many times to know it wasn't done right. Another guy that worked there asked if I wanted it redone after he seen my nails and I said "yes" I usually just peel my gel polish off cause it easy but no the lady from the being who messed up my nails decide to soak them in acetone which I know is done but I had already been there an hour and a half. Then she starts scraping the polish off with a cuticle pusher and filing the polish off not to mention she was cutting my fingers. She didn't care when I said ouch. Then another lady came over and rushed through my nails while she kept looking at the clock cause they were about to close and she wanted to leave. So 2-1/2 hours later my nails are bumpy,filed uneven and not smooth. Looks like my nails are grown out cause the polish isn't applied right and a lot of spots are missing polish. Considering going in to get my money back. Worst place I have ever been to. Completely unprofessional. I wouldn't recommend anyone to go here. They need to take gel manicure classes or just shut down shop. read more

The last time I had a pedicure was 10 years ago, but I decided to treat myself because I am 9 months pregnant and haven't been able to reach my feet to beautify them myself for quite some time now! I was embarrassed to go in with swollen feet and dirty toes from a summer of cramming pregnant feet into pre-pregnancy sandals, but the staff were very sweet and professional and didn't make a single comment or raise an eyebrow at the condition of my feet. First I sat in a massage chair, so my back was taken care of, and soaked my feet in a warm bath of swirling water. Kaylie was very gentle on my swollen pregnant feet: she trimmed and filed the nails, pushed and trimmed the cuticles, exfoliated my feet with a scrubby sponge, exfoliated my feet and calves with sugar scrub, massaged my feet and calves with lotion, massaged my feet with hot stones, and of course painted my toes. She even gave me a gorgeous complimentary flower on my big toes--I don't know if this is their norm or if it was because she was being nice to the pregnant lady, but it was a nice touch. The shop was very clean, the atmosphere was calm and relaxed, and the employees were all very friendly and professional. I am not in the habit of getting pedicures, but if ever want again, I will be coming here! I would recommend them to anyone! read more

I finally got a pedicure here and I am sooo mad that I waited this long to get one. After Amber did my nails ( great again btw) she took her time and really focused in giving me an amazing pedicure. I got the Royal pedi and picked the orange scrub and that was probably the most amazing part. Her massaging skills were to die for. It really was much needed after wearing heels all week long. Meh.. Everything about this nail salon is mediocre. Don't get me wrong -- the $20 pedi price and location are ideal; AND the staff are nice enough. However, the nail polish selection and overall product leaves more to be desired. I've received a pedicure from three different women and have yet to leave the establishment super happy. The entire process takes unnecessarily long, the foot massage is underwhelming, and more often than not, my polish is lumpy and on the corners of my toes. Is this THE WORST nail salon I've been to? The ladies here are very nice and remember my name every time. They have lots of gel colors so I have plenty of options when I want to switch the color up. I do fiberglass nails with gel polish, and they always look great. They're really good at listening to what you want and making it happen. It's so hard to leave without getting a pedicure. The pedicure is the relaxing, pamper yourself part for sure. Just a tip, I usually call before I go to make sure they aren't too busy at the time. I've been to lots of local and out of town salons over the years; this one is great! The place is clean and there are oodles of nail designs on display from which to select the perfect design. I'm so glad my party of three arrived early because the artwork is so fun, it's tough to decide which to select! My daughter went with a black with silver glitter ombre and loves it....looks so great.....Thanks Kylie! My daughter in law went with a St. Patrick's Day design that's so fun.....again Kylie did a fabulous job. Amber did my pedi and mani and had good suggestions to make both look classy and fun! Not only our nails look great but the foot and leg massage was wonderful....I'd come back for that alone! We had the best "girls" day today and will definitely be back soon! My daughter and I went here for pedicures. A little mommy daughter time (she's 4). When we arrived we were welcomed with a warm welcoming!
