Kamei's has been my go-to for a relaxing mini-vacation, even for just 3 hours. This place, and the owner, Thyla, has become my number 1 mani/pedi place since 2022. I was pregnant at the time, and they were so careful with me that they would've carried me all over if they could. It's the only nail place I've ever been too without the harsh fluorescent lighting, generic chair/foot tub combo, and the constant chatter among staff. If there was chatter, it's not distracting to those who are trying to relax. Their foot "tub" is specially prepared and brought out for each person. They also provide various beverages, depending on what you prefer. The service itself always felt thoughtful -- which was the number one determining factor for me. Follow-up to owner response: Hi Thyla, thank you for taking the time to respond, I do appreciate it, but I feel like my original review wasn't fully understood. To clarify, I wasn't questioning the price of the wax or massage. I've been coming here for quite some time, and those extras have always been part of the manicure experience I receive. My point was that during this last visit, those steps were skipped completely, and the service felt rushed -- which was disappointing since I had looked forward to the same level of care I usually receive. As for the chrome add-on, I was actually charged $10 for it not long ago, so calling it a "complimentary" $15 bonus feels a bit off, especially considering the condition it was applied in. The photos I shared show the messy clear coat and chrome bleeding onto my cuticles, which reinforces my concern that the quality was not up to the usual standard. It's frustrating that instead of acknowledging those concerns, the response felt more defensive than understanding. I wasn't trying to argue over pricing ... just giving honest feedback about how this experience differed from my many positive ones before. Sadly, I'll have to stop coming here, not just because of the rushed service but because my feedback wasn't truly heard or valued. Even though I live in Orange County now, I still love coming here for my nails when I visit family. Kameis Eco Nail Salon is the most relaxing nail experience I've had -- calm, clean, and welcoming. Thyla, the owner, is incredibly kind and friendly, and the staff is wonderful. I brought my mother and my three-year-old daughter for her first manicure, and they were so sweet to her, even bringing her a juice box and Oreos. I was very impressed at the quality of service! I was able to get a last minute pedicure and first, they are a clean establishment. It is so peaceful and zen in the room and you get your own bowl for your feet. It is not your standard pedicure. They take their time to ensure you truly get what you pay for. Kamei's always treats me wonderfully and they pay great attention to detail here. No other salon spends as much time as they do on my fingernails and toenails, exfoliating, trimming, shaping, and making sure everything is tidy. They don't seem to specialize in designs unless they are simple, so stick with basic designs or single color. I usually do regular polish for my pedicures, and gel polish for manicures. Even with swimming 4x/week my manicure lasted about 3 weeks before starting to chip or peel off. This review is long overdue! I have been coming here for years and so glad I found it after my move from the bay area. It is a true spa experience. The decor is rustic and farmhouse, think restoration hardware-esque. It's cute and more dim and quiet. They also have a HUGE selection of colors (high quality polish btw) from gel to dip to regular. I never run out of new things to try. Tips: Make a reservation online or by calling. They are pretty booked for the most part and walk-ins are not typically available. I usually park in the garage near Scott's as street parking can be hard to find and it's really hot during the summer. You are offered a beverage of your choice, water, tea, wine, and even sparkling wine, all included with your service. It is pricier than your usual walk-in place, and you get what you pay for. Mani's/pedis lasts around an hour each, they don't always have enough people to do both at the same time, and also depends on your preference. You get a nice hot stone massage, and for my gel mani it comes with paraffin wax as well. Don't shy away from the male technicians, they have strong hands for a deeper massage. They all pay close attention to detail, make sure you like the shape/length/color etc. I don't choose a person as they are all quite good. Can't wait to be back again! read more

Real bummer to update my annual review with a downgrade. I've been coming here for years. But I think with Thyla out for a while things just aren't up to par. Last few visits they weren't as careful, ripped off a toe nail, cut cuticles to point of bleeding, and overbooked. Today was the worst yet of the recent visits. Slow treatment. Overbooked. Wasn't offered a drink. I picked 6 colors, only to be told none of them were the right polish. Four of them were off racks staff gave to me saying they were. I gave up and didn't even get polish. Was still charged the same price for buffing. Is that a joke? And the red they put on two weeks is still there as a stain (didn't bother to get it fully off) so the result of the pedicure is just messy looking toes. I'll need to go somewhere else tomorrow to get it done right. After 6 years every few weeks, this was probably my last visit. I love the owner and what she's trying to do, but the staff seem not to care when she isn't around. Paying $110 (plus tip) for a mani-pedi with no polish in Folsom CA without the quality experience it used to be is just not something I can justify. I'll maybe give them some time and try to come back in a few months once Thyla is back to work and see if they've made some changes. read more

It was my first time visiting! We were in town to hang out with a friend who lives in Folsom for a girls weekend. I had Doanh as my manicurist and Yaya as my pedicures. I had the pamper me mani and pedi ($110) and it was delightful. First, the ambiance was so different than the ones in Vegas. It had wood paneled walls, soft lighting, and spa music. They used led lamps to see our feet and hands but it was such a difference but being bathed in fluorescent lights. The massage chairs were actually pretty strong so that was nice! Afterwards while we were waiting for our toes to dry, there was a section of the chair the came up and you could get a calf massage and relax. I really loved that they didn't try to rush our service either. The reasons why it isn't a 5 star review is that my pet peeve is when the nail polish is running low and they add extra clear fluid to extend the existing polish and the other is that there were three of us and it felt like our massage times were all different lengths of time. Anyway, I would still highly recommend going and asking for Doahn to do your mani. I received a compliment later on the shaping of my nails lol read more

I went to Kamei's Eco Nail Spa for the first time today. I booked an appointment for myself and my 7 year old daughter. I got a manicure and bright in a nail design photo for inspiration. My daughter got the kids mani and pedi. I will definitely be returning. All of the staff was amazing. My daughter had Kim and she did a great job with what my daughter asked to have. It turned out really cute. My daughter even fell asleep part way she was so relaxed. I had Tiana and she did such a fantastic job. The design she did looked even better than my inspiration photo. The service was amazing and it was extremely clean and gentle. I also loved that they didn't cut off cuticles and just cleaned them up. I've been to so many places that cut my cuticles and I end up bleeding. They brought out snacks and a kids drink for my daughter and asked me what I wanted to drink. I will never return here. I have come here quite a few times for gel x extensions. Thyla normally does my nails and they are fine. However, this last time I came in she wasn't there, a random tech did my fill. First of all, she gave me acrylics on the nails that I had pop off even though I repeatedly told her I have the gel extensions, so they looked weird. She also filled my lifted nails when she should have replaced them (I'm assuming because she isn't experienced in applying gel x) and it ended up creating fungus which I didn't even know until I went to a different nail place just because I was annoyed that the girl at this one wasn't listening to me. Super disappointed in a place I loved to go to relax. My nails were almost $100 just to be done poorly. read more

Two visits in a row and I was there for over 2 1/2 hours and 3 hours for a simple Mani/Pedi. The owner did not respect my time nor did she apply the Dazzle Dry technic required to let layers dry between applications to ensure up to 10 day a beautiful nails. Instead my nails were pealing within 3 hours. I had told the owner, who does my nails the last time I was here my husband sat in the car for 3 hours freezing for what should have taken not mor than 1 hour 15 minutes max. She apologized and told me that would not happen again. It did 2 1/2 hours LATER. I called her from my seat to say this is unacceptable, she said I will have him hurry to apply your nail polish. I told her I pay for a great service not a rush job because you left in the middle of my mani to do another customer for more money. Very sad for this bad business owner. I have reported her salon to Dazzle Dry for not following proper procedure to let the layers dry as this is in the instruction on how to use Dazzle Dry. I'm giving 1 star fully based on my experience and with the nail tech in house. My daughter and I had such a wonderful time getting our nails and toes done. My kid is 3 and they literally treated her like a princess, brought her tons of snacks, juice, and even found her a little phone stand and a phone charger so she could watch a show on my phone while they did my nails. I think we must have had a bad batch of nail polish because our polish chipped very bad (3 days before we were in a wedding) BUT they offered me a reimbursement and were very kind after I complained. The salon is incredibly clean, and has the most cozy vibe. Update: the nail salon went back and forth 4 times offering me a refund, and then denying me a refund. I got my nails done for a wedding and then had to quickly and inconveniently go to another salon to have them completely redone somewhere out of town. So, their offer to redo them wasn't an option. I had to pay another $100 to have our nails done again. And then on the day of the wedding half of the top coat on my nails chipped off and looked terrible. They asked me to send my Venmo for a refund, I did that. Then they asked for my card information to verify my original payment method for a refund, I did that Then they told me to call my bank and dispute the charges, so now I have to do that. I will say the workers during our appointment were incredibly sweet, and the salon was clean and beautiful, but I would still avoid this place like the plague. This was a nightmare. I got my manicure, pedicure and my daughters done for a very fancy and important wedding. And as silly as it may seem it literally ruined and put a damper on the entire event. Whoever communicated with me regarding my reimbursement was absolutely ridiculous and nonsensical. They should have happily reimbursed me seeing what our nails looked like only 1 day after getting them done but, apparently the bad review was worth $190. Ok I totally understand the hype about this place. I have looked for a place that is low lit and more of a vibe than just the typical millennial gray or furnished place with bright lights. I can't speak on behalf of manicures but the pedicure I received was heavenly. Lucy really took her time and was so kind. Maybe I've just been tired recently or it was *that* relaxing but I literally almost fell asleep. The leg and foot massage she gave was amazing as well. The customer service was also wonderful. The receptionist actually called me when they had a cancellation, remembering that I wanted an earlier appointment when booking, but they didn't have any at the time. I wasn't on a cancellation list. She literally just called me. Customer service like this is what I appreciate. AND you get a complimentary beverage?? I'm talking hot tea, water, red or white wine or a mimosa... what a luxury. I don't live in Folsom but I would gladly make the commute to come back here. If you want natural products, a relaxed atmosphere, and service that doesn't feel rushed, this is the spot. Just wow. If you want a place that has more natural products, takes their time, AND has a great vibe, look no further, honestly. Only thing I will say is they don't do acrylic. BUT they do a similar alternative that has less chemicals, as they put it. But if you need acrylic on a specific toenail or something like that, it can't be done here as acrylic is I guess suggested especially for a big toe nail (like what I needed-but I just called ahead and ended up getting that portion done somewhere else so I could still come here for a full service). Still 10/10 recommend. Seriously, come by yourself or bring your girlfriends and enjoy. This is the one place I can honestly say you get what you pay for. read more

If you get simple nails with just one color, this might be the place for you. However, it was not a satisfactory experience for me. The ambiance was really dark so it could be relaxing but I noticed up close that it didn't seem very clean. Everything about my nails ended up just a bit off. I got a builder gel fill & they were laid on way too thick. Each nail also had a different thickness so it wasn't even that they were all really thick but all differently thick. The technician seemed confident to do the french tips I showed him with a picture but it came out more "jersey shore" than "elegant" I think I would have rather someone be honest that they aren't confident doing a design so I know to stick with one color only. I usually would ask for something different in the chair once I notice the design going wrong but the first two fingers he showed me looked ok. That was my fault for not noticing it was not the vibe I wanted. The shape also wasn't really what i wanted in the end but I think that may be because they were so thick. I asked for SHARP square specifically. In conclusion, this place is just ok. Not worth $80 for my life. read more

OMG i was instantly relaxed walking into this place. the ambiance is incredible. the smell of lemongrass essential oil slaps you in the face. they play soothing music. it's dimly lit. i had the cheaper manicure and pedicure and still i had such an experience. they get the cuticles really well for a manicure. friendly staff. very clean and aesthetic place. even have a little phone stand for ur phone during manicure. so many incredible color options. it was little things too like chocolates at the entrance and when they massage your arms and legs they make a moisturizer in house with coconut oil so it looks like lotion but IT MELTS quickly. and they use salt rocks for the massage too. i'm actually blown away by this gem. they provide a drink and the wine was so delicious itself served in a nice heavy glass. read more

My friends talked about how great this nail salon was and I had high hopes. I loved the ambiance and the comforting vibes it gave, but my nails were just terrible. Both of my hands are completely different lengths and shape (asked for almond shape). My right hand nails are a lot shorter and round than my left hand. Not recommended for natural nails. The technician filed down my entire nail bed (all of my nails) so thin, my nails are wrecked and will take months to recover. I don't think my technician knew how to work with natural nails. I was there on Saturday, Jan 18, we had an appointment for manicures for two at 11:00. I didn't get my technician's name, but she must have had a recent eye procedure, she had pierce marks all around her eyes. I've included pictures of my nails before the manicure, and after.
