The food is above average and my best experience from this place is the take out. Yes. The take out. How many people rate take out? You will need to order and pick up to understand what I'm sharing. I don't want to spoil it for you but it's the most delightful take out food experience I've ever had. For lunch i usually order the meat Jun or bibimbap. Ready in 10 minutes. Theres parking in front. We decided to go to try the cold noodle lunch special for $5.99. We had to wait for parking, no big deal. We managed to get a table after waiting about 15 minutes. Most of us ordered the naengmyun combo either with chicken or bulgogi. I ordered the naengmyun alone. I also ordered a bunch of food to go for dinner along with our dine in order. Our food arrived. The naengmyun was the most basic I think I've ever had at a restaurant. Basically noodles, broth (not cold, more lukewarm) slices of cucumbers and apples, half an egg. No meat. There was no mustard or kochujang or vinegar. Broth was very watery and lacked flavor. But we chalked it up to it being only $5.99. When it came time to pay, she brought the handheld machine where you can use your card. The problem was the tip option. You only had a choice between 18, 20, 22%, there was no custom option. I wanted to tip on the food we ate in. I was not planning to tip on my takeout portion. It would've added another $20 to my bill. I told her one moment while I wanted to check my wallet to leave tip in cash. She left the handheld device with me at the table and walked away leaving me to figure out how to use it lol. Which I did. I left the device at the table and we got up to leave. I told her I left it on the table. She opened up another device she had to double check if I paid. But then she paused really checking the bill, I definitely got the feeling she was looking for the tip. I told her I left the tip in cash at the table. Then she said ok. Bottom line, the food was disappointing. It used to be so good. The service was lacking and I don't want to be forced to tip a certain amount. We went kinda late on a Friday night, around 8pm. The parking lot is small, but I think they have valet, so not to worry. We didn't have to wait for a table, even though the place was nearly packed. We found out we were just in time for their Happy Hour menu: daily 8-11pm. I really wanted Rice Cake & Mandu Soup (떡만두국), so I ordered that, & we also ordered the Kalbi Patties (딴날비?) from the Happy Hour menu. The side dishes/banchan (반찬) were pretty authentic-tasting, & the kimchi is some of the best on the island! My soup was good, & the Kalbi Patties were good (just a little sweet for my taste.) And the service was very good. This may be our new go-to for Korean food. read more

They closed for a bit and then reopened back up again in the same location. Same valet parking with attendant and I'm assuming the same staff, layout, setup as before. Though when we went (late night about 1.5 hours before closing) they were completely empty. The workers looked like they were ready to go home. Nevertheless, the food came to us hot and quickly, still the same taste as before. The banchan was just as good as I remember it. Though the tofu stew was pasty for me, like it needed to be strained, mixed well or boiled longer, something. This Korean restaurant has everything a true Korean and non-Koreans want. I did not know this, but it's two restaurants in one as they have two menus. One is a soondae restaurant. If you know you know. The other is a typical Korean restaurant. The best thing about this place is there are parking stalls right in front. It's also clean. The only drawback is it is pricey. We used to eat at this restaurant before they remodeled it (before the pandemic) and they used to be very good. In fact, the food is still good. BUT, the service is not what it used to be like and it is rundown and it lacks a good cleaning (just check out the food spots on the ordering machine in the corner). If you are not Korean or not a regular, itʻs best to find another Korean restaurant to eat at. They ignore you and the gruffness of the female gestapo at lunch riled my blood. No niceties, not water refills, nothing but plop, plop flat as a bulgogi pancake without a fizz! We wonʻt be going there again and I suspect Iʻm not alone in my feelings of neglect in my own land by a guest business. They need to learn good service etiquette rather than asking me if I saw the menu before shoving it down on the table when I has a question on a former item. They might do this in Korea where gruff behavior may be the norm but you canʻt act like that with local people. Bring back the old servers. Polite, friendly, attentive otherwise you may not be around for much longer. Like many of the better restaurants in the former Koreamoku area, you might just be replaced by a shiny new highrise. I've heard good things but was very disappointed. There was the standard Korean food. We ordered the stone pot rice which was good. We also had the tofu soup with seafood. This was ok. We also ordered meat jun and this was the worst meat jun that we ever had. The meat was so thin and tough. I make meat jun often and you couldn't quite tell that there was a batter. We normally say that you need to try a restaurant twice to be fair but how can a Korean restaurant not do a decent meat Jun. We will not be back. read more

Food was really good! I had the soft tofu stew, my friends got the pork combo, the hot stone bibimbap, and we shared a seafood pancake. They said everything was delicious, and on my end the stew was tasty, warm and filling. The service was nice, but they were a bit busy due to the dinner rush. I was sad when Choi's Garden closed in 2022 after they renovated. I always passed by on Rycroft Street when leaving Walmart or McDonald's but recently, I saw the open sign was on with one or two cars in the parking lot. I was surprised so, just the other day I decided to check it out. Choi's Garden opened about two months ago with new menu and new owner(s). They are opened 7 days a week from 11am-11pm. They have Soondae, soup, hot pot and barbecue. The menu mentioned Moobongri Soondae. The restaurant is in Google under Choi's Garden MBR bbq. There were some lunch specials and they let me have a 2-choice combo for an additional cost. They offer hot pot, soondae or and barbecue. I'm sure they are working on the menu. The restaurant was pretty empty except for one of the table occupied. I got the meat jun and bulgogi. The Meat jun meat was okay but needed sauce. The sauce had stronger shoyu taste. The bulgogi was good and tender but just a little too sweet for my liking. I ate a little and shared with mom at home. The lady was nice who took my order and I didn't have to wait long. I didn't have time but it would have been nice to dine inside their restaurant since the restaurant was clean with a beautiful modern ambiance. There was small parking lot in front which makes it convenient. Hope they do well. I'm glad another Korean restaurant opened up again. Took my nephew here for a late lunch early dinner . Picked him up from work @ 2:30pm and got to Choi's Garden about 3:00pm Fellow Yelper Donna O. Said they re-opened under new owners . Lots of parking in front of restaurant which is nice . Bathrooms are cleaned and service was ok . There was only 2 other tables of customers while we arrived. We ordered beef brisket thinly sliced and Pork belly. It comes with a bowl of rice also with a side of Bachan . The Bachan came with Shoyu potato, bean sprouts, cucumber Kim chee and regular Kim Chee. Prices are on the high side and I wish there was a different type of dipping sauce . We made a reservation ahead of time thinking it was going to be packed but to our surprise it wasn't. There were mixed reviews so I wasn't sure what to expect. We ordered a soondae soup, LA ribs and cold noodles. I actually had no idea what soondae soup was and it came to me a little surprised. It was a little gamey due to the soondae and pork intestine. It was good to try but not sure if I would get it again. The LA ribs were sooo delicious, juicy and tender. The cold noodles were a miss, it had a little more sour taste than we liked. The ban chan was ok, the bean sprouts, zucchini and fish cakes were good. Overall a good experience and I could see us coming back. Service was good, we didn't get asked if we wanted any banchan refills though. The inside was nice and spacious. I rarely give less than 4 stars because I like to support businesses by spending my time writing about places I like. However I also want to inform others (my fellow consumers and the businesses themselves about areas that need improvement. Such was the case with our recent visit to CG. It was almost 2 pm when we went looking for lunch on a Sunday. Lots of places apparently stop serving at 2:00 so we were glad we remembered CG was nearby and open. Because of the late hour they were not busy which is why it was even more off putting to get rude service. We were given one menu so asked for more since the other half of our party of 5 arrived in another car. We were given one more menu so still had to struggle to read fast and share. Given there was a language barrier, but civility to customers requires no linguistic skills. I had trouble understanding why I couldn't order the yellow corvina since it was listed under lunch specials. I wasn't sure if they weren't serving it, or ran out, or because it was communication problem. I tried to clarify again and discerned I could order it but it would take over 20 min so I decided to go with the soondubu (tofu stew) which would be quicker because I was hangry. Bro and cousin's wife ordered the bibimbap which I wish I had gotten tho mine was good. Mom and cuz got meat jun which came with a sauce that was too salty. I just had the worst, unpleasant experience ever. Service was non existent. Everytime food was ready from the kitchen, the angry looking ahjummas stared at the order sheet for a good 5-7 seconds, and still took it to the wrong tables SMH. This is why we prefer younger servers. She also took my kalbi to the wrong table. By the time she brought it to my table, the kalbi was not sizzling. When I questioned her about the kalbi not hot enough, she eyed me out and said "it's still hot" WTF. If I wasn't dining with my mom, I would've said something to her! How fkn rude. We ordered two cold noodle, kalbi, mandoo and seafood jun. The kalbi came out first, which was the first strike. Thr ahjumma forgot our rice, I had to ask for it. Then about 6 minutes later, one cold noodle. The second cold noodle took another 5-7 minutes, didn't come until I was done with mines. They also forgot our mandoo, I had to remind the ahjumma. Decent place to enjoy Korean dishes, although their meats were more on the tough-to-chew side, for me. In addition, the three unfamiliar dipping sauces were not of my liking. I preferred the traditional yakiniku style sauce. Their friendly and helpful staff deserved to be complimented. Overall, it was one enjoyable dining experience. First time back since they changed ownership and chef. We ordered 2 portions of the Marinated Kalbi with garlics, and it was delicious. The service was good too. They kept refilling the side dishes. The waitress cooked our beef Kalbi for us the entire time. We enjoyed the excellent service. The rice was glutinous and delicious. I know this place has been here for years, but I finally had dinner here. My girlfriend was feeling a little under the weather and wanted some seaweed soup. We were there on the early side. Around 5:30pm and parked in their lot (few stalls but a plus around this area. We walked in and were greeted and were seated. The place is nice and clean, and all the staff were very nice and friendly. We ordered kimchi jjigae and seaweed soup. Both came out pretty quick and piping hot. I made a quick visit to Choi's one afternoon and ordered some Naengmyeon to combat the sticky weather outside. It arrived quickly and after a short commute home was able to enjoy all the deliciousness Choi's provided. The noodles were tasty with the right amount of chew. The broth was excellent. My coworker suggested going to Choi's Garden for an early dinner. Other than KBBQ and local style, I haven't had much experience eating Korean food on the island, so I was excited to check it out! Back in California, my go-to for Korean food back is any type of soup or stew. So for dinner, I opted to try their Original Korean Miso Stew with Anchovy. This was the first time that I've tried Korean miso stew and I'm now a fan! I opted for the non-spicy version which was soothing and savory. It came loaded with fresh vegetables, soft tofu, and a few crispy anchovies. I found that eating the anchovies along with the miso made the stew even saltier. Paired with the side of rice it was a comforting and filling meal. My coworkers ordered their dishes but we all shared the complimentary banchan. The various banchan dishes that I tried were all fresh and tasty--they also didn't skimp out on the amount they gave us! Choi's Garden is easy to find as it's located in town. At 5:00 p.m. parking wasn't an issue for us since they have their lot in front. We were seated immediately as walk-ins but as the night progressed it got busier. When we left, the parking lot was backed up, so I recommend making reservations or coming earlier in the evening! Service wasn't anything special, our orders were taken quickly and our food came out fast. They have a convenient call button on the side of the table to get the attention of the workers. Based on my experience and the high reviews, I can see why Choi's Garden is a hit! They seem to be a popular place for their grilled meat as well. Why on Earth I haven't reviewed this business? Okay, time to tell my experience here. Dining in before Covid was a thing with dearest friends and that was one of the things I missed. Anyhow, came here for dinner and restaurant is packed. Lucky we got table for five. We were greeted the moment we came in. Our group was already settled in and yeap we are late. But late is better than never right? FOOD. Pan Fried Fish Jun - simple and delicious rendition. It's light and mild. Not fishy at all but the outside is a bit soggy. Still taste good. Kalbi Soup - definition of Ono! Comforting and flavorful. They seasoned it just right and the meat is so tender. I am still dreaming all the goodness from that soup. The rest of the food as far as I can remember are pretty good. The meat for the grill are perfectly cut and the ban chan do compliment and serve as the perfect appetizer. Can't beat Korean food when you're with good friends plus good chat. Customer service ain't the best but they are trying their best to accommodate you. They are pretty busy every night but as long as they were able to attend the needs of their customers that's pretty good enough. For sure I will be coming back here. Food is good anyways... This place was our second choice because people be blowing up new and upcoming places on social media, so now wait times are about 1to 2 hours and I ain't about that. But let me say I am happy that I went to chois garden because the food here made me felt like I was in korea. The staff were kind and accommodating and they came when we needed them. I will say the sides will get ya, so come on an empty stomach. We ordered the japchae, and the flavors were unreal that hit close to home, as it reminds me of "home grown" cooking if you know what I mean. We also ordered the garlic short ribs and the combo pork bbq selection and I will say for 4 people that was a lot of food. Pulling into the parking lot at Choi's Garden a man approached asking for my car keys. I've perhaps spent too much time in cities and city parking lots to trust that a person wandering a lot, even directly in front of the restaurant I intend to dine at, is legitimately functioning as a valet so a few back and forths were necessary before I skeptically handed over the keys. I did so, then crossed my fingers and hoped for the best. No need to hope. Choi's Garden is the best. Opting for the shared KBBQ experience proved to be a winning choice. Not inexpensive, by any means (and also not AYCE), but Choi's provided more food than two of us could consume and that's after I personally ate enough for two people. If you're opting for BBQ, you'll be seated at a table with a cooktop centerpiece but Choi's Garden staff conducts the cooking themselves. I admit to a bit of confusion in this process: I didn't quite understand that it was up to me to pull the cooked meats off the grill nor did I understand exactly how to consume the offerings. I am accustomed to wrapping the cooked meats and banchan in lettuce leaves, but here the lettuce was served in a shredded fashion, making this impossible. Worry not though; the server decided to take matters into his own hands regarding the cooked meat and I easily found a way to consume almost all that was placed in front of me. And a plus here: though a bit overbearing, the cooktop ventilation system is unequaled. You will not leave here smelling of BBQ nor does the restaurant itself. Choi's Garden offers an attractive dining environment and, combined with the food, I departed fully sated in every way.
