We first tried a Meat Jun Plate and it was Onolicious!!! The banchon were delicious and plentiful, however, the star was the Meat Jun!!! Tender, well seasoned and perfectly cooked. The two pieces of kalbi were ok. It had nice flavoring, but had excess cartilage making it hard to chew. The shoyu potatoes were missing that sweet shiny glaze that I'm used to. Some places shallow pan fry the potatoes first before putting it in the sauce. That's how I like mine. Some places just cook the potatoes in the sauce without frying it first. The mayo potatoes were good. It had a strong garlic powder taste, but I liked it. There was no one in line before me, so the food came out super fast. read more

The Meat Jun was our favorite and the beef in the Bi Bim Kook Soo was a close second. The beef was soft and delicious. The spicy chicken was a bit too marinated. The times I do end up going to Pearl's Korean BBQ, I only have positive things to say about this fast food Korean joint. My good friend Chi was flying back to da 808 from Germany, and since I was gonna head to the airport to pick him up, I figured I'd pick him up a plate of food as I know he was flying for over 26 hours, just to get back to da 808. Pearl's Korean BBQ is da place I ended up at, and I am most happy to say that the service here was pleasant, & efficient. Located by the entrance area (just next door) of Don Quijote on Kaheka, you can find this Korean eatery with a much spacious seating area, as well as the standard Korean fast food offerings. While I was there, I picked up a mini Meat Jun plate for my friend, and if you check out my pic, you will clearly see the shear volume of food that they offer for just a "mini". My friend was most gracious & appreciative of the food, and ended up gobbling up da entire plate at 3:00 AM (he texted me at that time - his time zone internal clock must be all screwed up! Lol!). The nice thing about going to Pearl's is not only can you get a hearty plate of food, but if you have some kinda party & wanna cater a tray of Korean grub, this location also does party platters (which I'm pretty sure you must order in advance). Although the food is very good, some of the staff need to be let go I have been going there for many years with my family and over the years. I've noticed this one female employee that is very rude today I've had enough. I just asked for a cup of water And she was very rude as she had been many times before I didn't even think she was working today, which was great whenever I get her she always seems to give me smaller portions then normal and as I go there often I do notice the difference I think I have mentioned that to her in the past and so she might have a grudge today I went with a friend and the food was delicious and the young man that was helping us was very kind and a great employee however, this woman called me a faggots in Filipino as I left she did not think I understood but I did see her her rude attitude and poor customer service needs to be looked at by managers. You should be welcoming and with a smile not just because you work there and you're getting an hourly wage that you can be rude to customers I find this completely unacceptable in the aloha state of which I am a native. This place always messes up their takeout orders. I should've known because it's not the first time. The worst part is 3 people after me got their orders first and considering it was meat jun it should've been first. However, the girl who gave out the food looked confused and maybe it's why both my wife and my food order was wrong. What a surprise I had when going home (Waimanalo), to open and see warm macaroni salad, slivers of potato with that mayo, corn and kim chee. My order consisted of all green vegetables. I came a little before 8 pm and dine-in was already closed. They were only doing takeout orders. I was very indecisive on what to get and ask the cashier what was popular here. She recommended the Pearl's Special ($19.49), which comes with three meats: kalbi, barbecue beef, and grilled chicken, as well as 4 veggies on the side. It was such a good value. For just over twenty bucks, we got a giant platter of food that both my friend and I could not finish in one meal. The kalbi was definitely my favorite meat, and the grilled chicken my second-favorite. My friend and I both thought that the barbecue beef was way too sweet and couldn't finish it. As for the veggie sides, I didn't like the japchae as it was again way too sweet. We both tried a bite, decided we didn't like it, and didn't eat any more of it. The other three veggies I got, the cabbage, the bean sprouts, and the sweet potato, were all delicious though. It's been almost a year and time to update. Their Kalbi is not robust in flavor, but have more selections on sides. I did love the chop chae which was bursting with flavor. I used the gravy on the rice and made up for Kalbi. You can check the photos. My mini plate is about $14.49 and friend's regular around $19.49. The women give more servings compared to the guys. They were helpful and accommodating. It was hot outside with limited seating. That helped us in terms of comfort which made our meal pleasant. Masks are required, social distancing, sanitizing tables, and other tables taped over to provide distancing with tables. Its somewhat awkward, but better than 90 something degrees outside.
