I wound up ordering yellow rice with black beans and a baked chicken leg. I also ordered a side of Maduros and a chicken empanada. Here's how I found everything (keeping in mind I took it home to reheat before I ate it): Chicken Empanada Unlike most empanadas I get nowadays, this one seemed to have been fried, with a crispy, yellow outer shell. The crunch was fantastic and I really liked the flavor. The chicken inside was super tasty and I immediately wished I had ordered another of these. Maduros I LOVE a good plantain but they are surprisingly hard to find. I would say if I go to five restaurants with them perhaps only two will have really good ones. Maduros should have a nice chewiness, maybe even a bit of caramelization on the outside with a wonderfully sweet flavor. I am happy to report that Mana has exactly this and it was great! Chicken & Rice with Beans The rice with beans were good and had some veggies mixed in. I've had better and I've had worse, so this falls straight in "B" territory. The chicken was the same - tasty, well cooked, moist but the flavor was average. Flavor-wise this is a good dish (not amazing). That said, the *serving size* was tremendous and there was enough rice for me to have over two meals and for that it deserves high marks! I really enjoyed the food from Mana.
