This little Peruvian gem located on Rahway is the perfect spot for enjoying authentic Peruvian dishes with family and friends. If you're a fan of Hugo's, you'll absolutely love Caído de el Cielo. The décor is Soo cute, creating a cozy atmosphere that makes you feel right at home. While the restaurant doesn't have a liquor license (though you can likely bring your own), they serve a delicious chicha morada, refreshing lemonade, a variety of Peruvian sodas, and your typical American soft drinks. From the moment you walk in, the welcoming staff and excellent service set the tone for a great dining experience. The portions are generous, too! We kicked off our meal with the "Trio Causa," a traditional layered potato dish seasoned with ají amarillo and lime, filled with chicken, tuna, and seafood, topped with pickled onions. It was super yummy! For the main course, we had the Arroz Chaufa, a seafood stir-fry rice dish that stole the show. This dish is loaded with seafood- crab, large shrimp, mussels, and calamari, enough to easily share among 2-3 people. We also tried the Lomo Saltado, and wow! The sauce was incredible, and the steak was perfectly cooked and incredibly tender. Parking can be a bit tricky since it's street parking, but don't let that deter you from experiencing this wonderful place. Absolutely loved their food, everything is fresh and extremely flavorful. The decoration inside is very in touch of Peruvian culture, and is a clean environment. Craving for Peruvian cuisine? Caido del Cielo in Rahway is one of the best in town. The food was good, the service was great and the ambiance was nice. Parking is a bit challenging though and their AC was not properly working at the time of my visit (a bit uncomfortable). Among the dishes we tried are as follows: Their Anticucho is phenomenal, it's a beef grilled heart served with fried-boiled potatoes and corn. Choritos a la Chalaca was good, its mussels marinade with lime, served with red onions, tomatoes and cilantro. Lastly, the Jalea was good as well, these are deep fried seafoods (fish, crabs, mussels, etc.) served with onion salads. It's become one of our favorite casual, local restaurants for dinner, and we often love bringing friends or getting takeout here for group gatherings. Our usual orders include: - Ceviche de pescado - imo, the best classic ceviche dish. Good appetizer to share with a group. - Tallarin verde con bistek/pollo - creamy pesto pasta with grilled steak or chicken. Both proteins are delicious. This was also surprisingly a winner for some picky kids too. - Pescado a lo macho - fried fish topped with a creamy, yellow seafood sauce. The sauce is so good with rice too! - Arroz con mariscos - large, flavorful Peruvian-style paella filled with seafood that also comes with a small ceviche. Great Peruvian find in downtown Rahway. Went to hear some live music and found this cute little restaurant. The mixto cerviche was yummy along with the guacamole with tostones. My family and I wandered into this restaurant while waiting for my daughter's theatre performance to start down the street. I had no idea what I was headed into, but it was amazing. My 12yo son tried a few new things there and absolutely loved them, and said the guac is the best he's ever had. I agree that the guac was terrific, and so was everything else I tried. This became my mom's favorite Peruvian spot! I very much enjoy it as well, but she asks to come here more often than not lol! Very delicious food and amazing service. The servers always try to be very much accommodating, despite the restaurant's small space, to ensure all parties are seated and receive great service. We don't really see this often in Peruvian restaurants, but this place serves Tallarín Saltado Chifa! You often see just regular tallarín saltado at Peruvian restaurants, which usually consists of thicker noodles and a slightly different seasoning than the chaufa, whereas the noodles here are thinner, crispier, and more authentic to the Chinese restaurants back in Peru! read more

We came here because we had theater tickets at the Hamiiton Stage, and this restaurant is within walking distance. The food is excellent and plentiful, the service friendly and swift, and the atmosphere cozy and cheerful. My husband had the arroz con mariscos with a small creviche, which was amazingly tasty. I had grilled fish, which was very tasty. I now know fried yucca tastes nearly like french fries, less interesting than I expected, but good. The dressing that came with the green salad was also very tasty. read more

Discovered this hidden gem just outside downtown Rahway. Great authentic Peruvian cuisine with generous portions and a no frills atmosphere. The restaurant gets pretty busy with dine in customers as well as to go orders so it's best to go early. Started off with the chicha morada, pleasantly spiced, not overly sweet and very refreshing. Next, was the anticuchos, or beef hearts. This was very tender and flavorful, served with fried potatoes and hominy corn (I recommend eating it with the aji verde sauce they give you on the table). For the entrees we had the tallarines verdes con bistec and Churrasco Argentino con arroz blanco y papás fritas. The pasta was surprisingly creamy with a mild pesto sauce and the meats were very tender and well seasoned. For dessert we had the combinación (arroz con leche y mazamorra). This was Peruvian style rice pudding served hot...VERY DELICIOUS!!! So good we ordered 2 more to go lol! The service here is a bit bare bones...could be the fact that they are a bit short staffed. However, this was my first time here and the servers were more than welcoming and helpful explaining the dishes. The overall environment here is a vibe...very lively and bustling as they proudly broadcast Spanish music over the airwaves. Will definitely be coming back to try the other dishes and for sure a 10/10 recommendation read more

Ordered some food for pickup. They told me 45 minutes so I got there in about 45 min. They then sais about 5 more minutes and I ended waiting a like 15 to 20 min more.. already I said to myself we're off on the wrong foot. Got the food home and it was a horror show.. ordered shrimp in garlic and the shrimp was chewy and undercooked. The shrimp came smothered in some type of tastless yellow sauce and there was no garlic in there at all. Ordered the arroz con marisco (seafood rice) and the rice had the texture and consistency of mashed potatoes all clumped together and mushy. The calamares were like chewing on rubber bands.. so gross. I spit everthing out and threw the food away in the trash.. never will return. Just go to Sabor Peruano or Hugo's both up the street if you want Peruvian.. much much better. Do yourselves a favor and skip this this place. read more

I went to this place for a special occasion. We entered and gave the young lady with long hair and glasses our name. She stated it would be 35-40 minutes. We asked for a menu to look at as we waited. We noticed a party of 3 walk in and speak to the same young lady we have our name to. She asked them to walk to the back. We continued to wait. We then noticed that they were being seated as they asked a table to get up and move to be able to accommodate a party of 3 that walked in after is as we already had waited 30 minutes. I then went up to the same young lady with long hair and glasses and asked her to by are they being seated as we were waiting for a table. And the response I got was " not to argue with you but we sit according to the tables not the people." And that how we find things here. I said thank you and left. I would never go back there because it didn't matter that 2 people who waited 30 minutes and they would sit any part that walked in after because of the size of the table. I thought that was rude and disgusting response. I wouldn't go back. I would give it zero stars but it won't allow me to post if I didn't at least give them a star.. Trash! read more
