    Rib platter
    Kisha M.

Not the friendliest place. Matter of fact, the guy working the window looked at me like he hated me, but we had been driving for two hours and needed to eat and all the other BBQ joints seemed to be closed on Mondays. There are no bathrooms and no inside seating, so don't go here if you aren't taking it home or don't want to be sweaty and smokey when you leave. Now for the food... Rib platter was actually pretty good. Ribs were tender and the sauce was good. Beans tasted canned but weren't awful. Potato salad was good and you could tell they use sweet pickle. Sweat tea was really good and I would have loved more but I didn't feel like I could ask for more. Overall the food was decent but I don't like feeling like I am not welcome, so I can't recommend the place. Fortunately for me, I don't live in the area and will most definitely never be back. Prices were good.

This place is always good. Fast and a good price. Best BBQ in East Brainerd now that Bones has closed.

If you pull at the meat, there's a solid chance all of it will come right off the bone. I ordered spare ribs and corn, and both came out very quickly. The ribs were obviously the highlight, but the corn was really good too. Since you order at a counter near the entrance, it's a little hard to fully rate the service, but the process was simple and efficient. They also gave us cabbage to feed the goats outside, which was unique and fun. The seating area is near windows with a great view of the mountains, which makes the experience even better. I downloaded Yelp just to write this review, so that should say enough. Definitely recommend Sugar's Ribs, especially for the spare ribs.

Neither were sauced and while the sauces on the table were plentiful, they were watered down. Too liquid to really stick to the meat and provide any flavor. Sad because the options looked interesting yet fell flat on taste. I absolutely loved the location. Up on hill, overlooking the skyline of Chattanooga was a beautiful site. It offered a relaxing diner feel with a good amount of space to enjoy my meal without other patrons being on top of me.

We got several platters (chicken and pork) and various sides. Everything was so good and tasted like your family made it for you. Some standout items: the coleslaw is super finely chopped which gives it a really good texture, flavor is great. The potato salad was creamy and perfectly seasoned. The pork was so Smokey and tender. Their sauce is super great, would pour that on everything. The fried okra was so tasty, we ate every piece. They have so much cheese in the poppers, delicious. If you're passing through the East Ridge area of Chattanooga, I highly suggest checking out this awesome spot for great food at an even better price. Thanks for the great experience!

The food was good, but the major drawback is that a large plate only had four ribs, one of which you could barely call a rib. The second, drawback for me is that the ribs came with sauce already on them. That's like a major no-no in my book. I know, everybody has their preference, but I prefer to sauce my own food if I feel that it's necessary. To be honest, barbecue should stand on its own without sauce and sauce should only be there to enhance the flavor. The meat was tender, but I couldn't really get a feel for the flavor of the meat because the sauce interfered with that. The pulled pork plate was good. Also, my girlfriend said she enjoyed that. But again, sauce should come on the side in my opinion. I have no real complaint against this place, but I wish I had known ahead of time that the ribs came with sauce on them and I wish that I had known that there were only four ribs on the plate, I would've ordered a whole rack. Prices are good, the place is clean, and as I said, the owners are very welcoming and warm people. Give this place a go, it's worth a trip! But just ask questions before you order!

First time visiting, and not only was the food to the moon fantastic with portions big enough to feed the inhabitants of Jupiter! but the man serenaded me. Yes, I got dinner and a show. The brisket? The green beans came in seasoned like they had something to prove, and the banana puddin'... well, that was the kind of dessert that makes you rethink your life choices in the best way. Staff was friendly, helpful and accommodating. Loved the rustic eclectic decor! 10/10 would celebrate being fabulous here again.

We pulled up right at 5:00 when they opened and were surprised to see a line already waiting outside the door. That's usually a pretty good sign. We waited about 30 minutes before ordering, but nobody seemed too surprised -- clearly this place has a following. It had that small-town, no-frills BBQ-joint feel, and between the line out front, the smoking grill, and the first bite of ribs, it felt like we had found one of those places people know about for a reason. We had the three-meat sampler with ribs, brisket, and sausage. It was plenty of food and a great way to try the menu. The ribs and sausage had a nice kick to them and did not disappoint. The ribs were fall-off-the-bone tender, and the brisket was lean, cooked just right, and full of flavor. Robert runs a great operation. He took our order, served up the meats, and he and his crew kept everything moving in a friendly and welcoming way. There were Georgia, Texas, and Carolina sauces on the table, and honestly, all three were good. Nothing fancy or overdone here -- just solid barbecue that tastes like folks know what they're doing. It's not just good local BBQ. It's worth going out of your way for. Glad we made the drive. Wardlaw's is the real deal.

The fried chicken came out hot, crispy, juicy, and full of flavor. You could literally see the juices coming out of the chicken, and every bite was delicious. The customer service was excellent as well. Everyone was friendly, welcoming, and attentive throughout the meal. I also enjoyed the atmosphere. The walls were covered in dollar bills and license plates, which gave the restaurant a lot of character and made it feel like a place with stories to tell. We got to choose our table and had friendly service the whole time. Note that although the service is pretty good, the food coming out was a little slow. We got the 3 chicken tender basket, catfish basket, the smoked buffalo wings, and banana pudding. The buffalo wings were the highlight. Great smokiness coming through the wings. Just a little bit of heat from the buffalo sauce. Highly recommend. Everything else was pretty good. The chicken was tender, and good crisp to the outside, and good seasoning. The catfish was pretty good too although they were pretty thin so didn't get quite as much of the crunch to tenderness contrast that I like in a catfish. Also, their tartar sauce is too sweet. I prefer more tang on the sauce. I think the sauces run sweet as I thought the champy sauce was a little too sweet over mustard-y. Good fries with great texture and seasoning. I also got the green bean sides which were a little soft but great, depth of flavor as it was clearly cooked with pork. The potato salad was good if not memorable. The kids loved the banana pudding. A little too much of the cream and not enough pudding but otherwise worth getting. All in all a strong chicken spot to visit while in Chattanooga.

Walking in , you could see a long bar that you could sit at or just order food at in a designated area and seat yourself around the place. We chose to set up the bar, of course. So, as I was told by the staff, the restaurant portion has been spun off and sold from the brewery itself, so this is my first visit for food, since that has transpired. It is now known as "BUDS & BREWS CHATTANOOGA", part of a larger group out of Nashville, I was told. The bar/brewery looks the same, there is the same helpful staff, but in all honesty, the food just isn't as good. The pulled pork, was okay at best, the fried onion rings, just too greasy, and the chicken wings, just too dry. When first opened NR was the first microbrewery to prepare and offer their own food, and the bbq was stellar, but I cannot make that same statement today. Brews are still good, but if need a good microbrewery in Chattanooga that can offer you good food to go along with that cold one, my recommendation is either Oddstory or Five Wits. I'll continue to come to NR for a beer, as their Moonpie Stout is absolutely one of the best beers you can find in Chattanooga, but like I said if I am hungry too, this will no longer be one of my primary spots to consider.
