We stopped in for a late lunch after taking the Chattanooga trolley/train tour. Wanted to see a little more of the area and it was only about a half a mile from the station/public parking lot where the tours take off. If one can't walk that far there is parking around the warehouse that Tupelo Honey Southern Kitchen and other shops are located in. It was a quiet afternoon around 2 pm. Our waitress was prompt and answered our questions. I was happy to see they had gluten free bread/buns. I ordered the Whisky and onion smash burger on a gluten free bun and it was so good I tried to replicate the topping with what I had back at the Airbnb we were staying at. When I get home I'll check out the ingredients better and give it another try. I had a side of green beans nicely seasoned with bacon as my side. My husband, bless his heart, ordered the honey pecan chicken salad sandwich on gluten free bread so I could taste it. It was also delicious and he had a side of home fries to die for. We would definitely come back and try more of their menu if in the area again. read more

Haven't been to Tupelo Honey in years. I ordered the southern shashouska and coffee. The coffee wasn't the greatest and I noticed they didn't get it from a coffee pot but from a carafe. The southern shashouska was good and kept me full for several hours. I didn't order any biscuits since they are known for that. We sat at the bar since it was busy and didn't want to wait for a table. The service and food was okay, nothing special, probably won't go back to this location. Epic epic EPIC chicken!! Came here with my family for lunch and we were seated right away. Great service in the bar area which was nice and quiet so that we could enjoy our conversation. Tupelo Honey's menu is what I call good Southern comfort food. I wish there was one of these where I live in Atlanta. I would definitely be a regular. If you grew up in the South, the flavors will be familiar. This chicken is brined for 18 hours and is packed with flavor and the skin is so crispy!! And juicy is an understatement. Just perfect. The veggies were stunning as well. The green beans were well seasoned and loaded with smoky bacon flavor! The mashed potatoes paired well and were delicious. I have been to Savannah Georgia and had southern food from the motherland,,, and this place was very comparable. Our waiter was the best. He was very helpful with suggestions and was patient with some of the slow ordering people in my party. The food was amazing. The drinks were the best. I had the old fashioned flight and it was the first time I had a flight like that. The place was very open and not cluttered at all with tables. Very clean inside and out. 2nd time to Tupelo Honey. Last time was YEARS AGO.... more than 5 years ago... and I came for the promotional beer glass. Back then they were still troubleshooting their fusin food menu. It was good... but I'm foodie snob... they had room for improvement. That was the Chattanooga location back then. Today at the St Elmo location one... everything SLAPPED!! We were even bummed we couldn't do cat cafe... and the food hear filled the kitty void with delicious food. My kid got blackened Mahi mahi, mac and cheese and fries. All yum. I got the surf and turf served over creamed Spanish and fried potatoes. Aperol Sprize to drink... okay... but never seen this drink before so it was the obvious choice. Then finished with the banana pudding and Mississippi mud pie mini tasting dessert. Oh... and signed up for club and got to sample the biscuits for free. The blueberry sauce and butter on their biscuits is definitely worth your time. Tristan was our waiter and he was cool and super helpful. Kid wants to bring daddy back here ASAP. read more

The original location opened in 2000 in downtown Asheville, NC, and they now have restaurants across the country. This location in Chattanooga, Tennessee is my personal favorite, and I've taken detours on multiple roadtrips to bypass Nashville and eat here instead due to the great location, amazing customer service, and incredible food. My dad and I wanted to get dinner early. The restaurant we wanted to go to wasn't open, so we settled on Tupelo Honey. Glad I am that we did because it turned out to be the best meal we had on our trip to Chattanooga. We split the Fried Green Tomatoes as a starter, and they were delicious! The only thing I would have liked is a side of the sauce, but the flavor was there, and I really liked the accompanying grits. We split a half chicken order. I had the thigh and wing, which were so juicy and flavorful. It was a simple preparation that really let the flavor of the chicken shine through. I had Brussels sprouts as a side. They were good though a few were underdone. We had some of the pecan pie for dessert. It was good, but it had a strong alcohol aftertaste, which I could have done without. I wish I had gotten a pic of the chicken and waffles that have been living rent free in my head ever since we tried them. Great spot. Chicken is their Jam, but they have a limited but diverse menu with breakfast items served throughout the day. I had the grilled chicken sandwich with Green Beans and Goat Cheese Grits and my companion had the Chicken BLT. Both were very good. Calista was our server and did a fantastic job. Parking tip; if you can snag a parking spot in front of the restaurant parking is free for the first 2 hours. And the nerve, I had just recently recovered from them removing the "miss asheville veggie melt" which was the best sandwich I've ever had, and I'm not even a vegetarian. Truly enjoyed dinner tonight (see order below). We ordered dinner last night. Usually, it's a big mistake but decided to order from Tupelo Honey. Great decision. Everything was extraordinarily delicious except the mashed potatoes. The mash was a little thin for our taste. Flavor was ok. All the veggies were cooked to perfection with the best sauces. We couldn't get over the Brussels and highly impressed with whatever that sauce was. The green tomatoes weren't soggy like most restaurants. Now, my husband knows his fried chicken and he's not one that likes it covered with anything but loved this one lightly covered with the bonfire sauce. He kept talking about how good it was. I ordered the shrimp and grits and it was delicious. It all came hot which makes a huge difference especially in satisfaction. The last takeout TH's shrimp grits wasn't as good which wasn't hot but arriving hot made a big difference. Compliments to the chef and driver delivering timely. Great job, Tupelo Honey! PS, I do like to suggest to seal the bag to avoid the driver sampling the food. It has happened with Uber drivers only. Ordered from restaurants thruout Chattanooga. Not great. Fried chicken is their specialty, but it's very aggressively seasoned and was not very tender. My husband ordered the breakfast potatoes with his, and couldn't eat them, as they were so salty. I had the chicken breast with spinach and tomatoes, as it was the lowest calorie, least fatty and impactful thing on the menu, and it was fine, but I wouldn't return for it. We came here on a recommendation from a friend who used to live in Chattanooga! We were on a girls trips and visiting at Ruby Falls and wanted to go through Chattanooga and this was a great option! The place is super cute and very welcoming. When we arrived they wanted to seat us at a table that was next to the area where the servers are very active. We asked for a more private booth because there weren't many tables opened and we just wanted something more cozy and private. The host firmly and rudely told my friend no. It was an odd experience and after they exchanged some words, she agreed to place us in a booth, but it did take a good 10-15 min for someone to come get our drink order. Again, it was early and empty, so very strange! HOWEVER, when our waitress did come she was absolutely amazing, made the best suggestions and our food was exactly what we wanted! Definitely get the chicken!!! Everything we ate was amazing and we didn't dessert as well, which I highly recommend!! I've wanted to try this place for a while and just never had the occasion to be in the area with some free time and an appetite. So we finally tried it the day after Thanksgiving. All I can say is the food was on the low side of Denny's average. First of all the food was barely warm, always a sign of poor handling in the kitchen. I had the Farmers Omelet and the onions were under cooked and the goat cheese grits could have been good if they were even warm at all. My wife had the chicken and waffles, the waffles were good, although you only got a 1/2 waffle (2 pieces, not 4), and the chicken was way over cooked and so chewy. The service was good and so was the ambiance, thats why this isn't a one star review. Maybe this was an off day for them, but for over $50 w/tip for breakfast I expect the food to actually taste good. We won't be back. read more

We went here for an early dinner while in town from Cincinnati Ohio. The atmosphere was cook a little fancy meets eclectic. Emily our server took really good care of us. For food we started with the Fried Pickles, my wife and I split Ashville Hot Mac n Cheese Chicken n Waffles and the Fried Green Tomatoes. My daughter had the Classic Chicken n Waffles. I particularly liked the Fried Pickles, they were the size of small potatoe chips, really salty though. The Fried Green Tomatoes were good, very unique and tasty twist for old country classic. The Ashville Hot Mac n Cheese Chicken n Waffles were delicious. Its fried chicken on top of fried mac n cheese on top of a waffle. We actually ordered it with the sirracha honey on the side, which I'm glad we did becsuse it was pretty spicy. Definitely enjoyed the experience. Overall, we had a really good experience. The food had great flavor. I especially enjoyed the shrimp and grits. Even though I know this restaurant is known as a brunch place, I was a bit surprised with the few number of true dinner options on the menu since they're open for dinner hours. While our waiter was good, the hostess left much to be desired. She did not smile or greet us when we walked in And appeared less than thrilled that we were there that evening.
