It is still a bit far (35min), but doable. I also wasnt sure if i would be able to eat something because wheat noodles, but the staff were awesome enough to allow my substitution of wheat noodles for glass noodles in the dish i had chosen. I had originally made the nice lady very nervous with my request and she tried to convince me to try the dish that was advertised with the glass noodles, but i assured her that it would be fine as i normally eat noodles without soup. They taste great, don't get me wrong, I'm just comparing them to my favourite noodle spot in a different state. What we got: Oil Spill Noodles - 4* once again their chili sauce is *chef's kiss* incredible. We recommend giving them a good stir to get the oil well spread. We felt there could've been more beef added, a decent amount was gristle or fat which we did not enjoy. I think the noodles could've been cooked just a little more as well. Lanzhou Stir Fry Handpull Noodles - 4* great flavour. It was a large portion of noodles, more than the oil spill. The vegetables were cooked to perfection with the right amount of crunch. Chopin serves incredibly flavorful noodle soups with hearty and savory broths, perfectly chewy hand-pulled noodles, and the right amount of toppings! One of the employees helped us decide which noodles would pair well and I was so grateful for her help. She recommended thinner cut noodles for broth soups and thicker/wider cut for stir fry. We decided to choose thin and flat for our soups. Both types were very easy to mix into the soups and the broth coated them well. Absolutely spectacular. This is a gem of a find with the best homemade noodles in the city. The soups are flavorful, the service is very quick and friendly, and you'll slurp up your bowl faster than you thought was possible! I've consistently gotten the Lanzhou Beef Noodle Soup (A1) with thick noodles (if I remember correctly)! But the Traditional Beef Noodle Soup (A2) is not actually that spicy, just really flavorful--so I think I might even start ordering that soon. Tried Chopin Noodle House for the first time while my parents were in town--we were looking for a new spot with Asian food and decided on their beef noodle soups. My parents thought the broth was a bit too oily, and my sesame noodles leaned on the salty side for my taste. Not a fan of the fish soup. And i wish that the other beef soup had more components. Hard to not compare the beef soup I had to pho but I'll say id rather have pho for the veggies and broth. This location in Catonsville seems to be the third addition to an already existing line of Chopin Noodle Houses and I'm glad they expanded their business to be closer to my neighborhood. Located inside a smallish venue (there's seating for roughly 10 parties of ~4 people), it's a simple shop that knows what they excel at. You order either at a big screen kiosk or there's usually somebody at the front register that can take your order. At that point, they bus your order to your table, but that's pretty much the service interaction you will have. They have one restroom on the premise. There's a selection of noodle dishes with soup or no soup and then "appetizers," which are basically side dishes. You can then specify what kind of noodles you want with your dish (from ramen-style noodles to extra thick). Overall, everything was delicious. I'm a bit biased because I love hand-pulled noodles and you can definitely tell the difference here. That said, the sauce and broth that the dishes came with were all delicious and had great flavor. I imagine that this might be a popular spot to order carry-out or doordash, but I would recommend dining in to eat everything fresh. I don't know that the quality of the noodles will travel very well. All things considered, I'm very happy that they opened this shop here and will be back again! read more

Found Chopin Noodle House on GrubHub after a search for soup. I wanted something that was similar to pho in a smaller quantity. After searching on Yelp, this restaurant was highly suggested, so I gave them a try. I ordered the traditional beef noodle soup. It came with chili sauce and zero utensils. The soup reminded me of ramen with less ingredients. The flavor was rather flat but hearty as a soup should be. I ended up adding hoisin sauce to give it a bit more flavor. All and all, not a bad dish, just not my cup of tea. Would love to give other menu items a try. Maybe eating at the actual restaurant will provide a better experience. read more

4.5 Stars. I've been wanting to try this place for a while now. Thanks to the many Yelp reviews and a day off, my wife and I came in for a lunch date to check them out. Lots of folks inside were enjoying their noodles. Staffers called out order numbers in English and Mandarin. True to the Chopin vibe, there is a piano available for anyone to play (quietly, they request). A water cooler is available for any guest to help themselves to water. The same two or three instrumental songs are playing on a loop. You can order one of two ways: kiosk or at the counter with a person. Feeling overwhelmed, my wife and I spoke with the woman behind the counter about what we were considering. I liked that we mentioned being intrigued by the cucumber salad appetizer and the lady said "well, it's a little different than American-style cucumber salad; try a sample and decide if that's what you want." It ended up being what I expected - crunchy with a nice dressing - so we got it. Everyone on Yelp seemed to recommend the traditional beef noodle soup, so we got that and an order of cold noodle Lanzhou Liangpi. First, the soup. I came in with various expectations of other Asian soups - pho, tom yom, sambar - all with their own intensely aromatic flavor profiles, but this is not that. It's not a big punch in the face, but even though the flavor is more subtle, I would not dare call it bland or lacking flavor. It is beefy with a nice bit of chili oil and the noodles are pleasant. A little radish as well for some contrast. My favorite was the cold Lanzhou Liangpi. The extra thick noodles are nice and chewy. The sauce is a lovely blend of sesame noodles and chili oil, so it's savory, spicy, and creamy. Some thinly-chopped cucumber makes it a pleasant crunchy fresh contrast. Would definitely get these again. I was pleasantly surprised to see that they had a bunch of drinks available and have juices, fruit teas, and milk teas. I got a mango milk tea which was delightful and my wife got a passionfruit green tea. Only two complaints: 1. They need more vegetarian or even pescatarian options. Aside from an appetizer or two, everything else has meat. If I brought vegetarian Child #1, there would be little for him. 2. I wish they included a bit more protein. The beef in the soup was nice, but another couple slices could go a long way. Similarly, the gluten protein (think a cross between seitan and tofu) in the Lanzhou Liangpi was also kind of sparing. I've been wanting to try this place for a while and of course the perfect time to do it was on one of the days I came down with the common cold . I craved a soothing beef soup and opted for Chopin Noodle House! The inside smelled great and they seemed to have plenty of seating ( This review is about takeout ). I had ordered ahead of time so when I got there they just asked for my order number. The service was nice and I loved the way the restaurant looked. Once I got home, I started assembling the soup. The broth had to be reheated as it was lukewarm but oh well. After reading a few of the reviews beforehand I realized it was a good idea to order extra beef and I was glad I did! It tasted tender for the soup and I ate it all. I added some veggies and sriracha of my own because I felt it was lacking some of that. The tea egg was DELICIOUS!! I loved the flavor of this savory egg and it paired well with the soup. The thick noodles were long and slurpable in every bite and had the perfect ratio of chewy and tenderness. The broth was a bit salty for my liking but I just added a little water to compensate it. The packaging of it all was neatly assembled but they didn't provide any napkins or utensils so I just used what I had at home. *PRO TIP (I learned the hard way but just fyi if you're ordering ahead, make sure to call them or just opt to order takeout in person as it might end up being more expensive ordering through 3rd party apps, which is what I did. Rarely do I use the words "hidden gem", and this place is absolutely deserving of that. Tucked away in the Great Wall super market plaza is this hidden gem of a noodle house. Tried the Mo with lamb soup and chicken noodles, both were excellent and absolutely worth the visit. The lamb and chicken were awesome, with the chicken almost melt in your mouth soft and the lamb cooked to perfection with just the right amount of chewiness. Noodles felt like they're hand made and cooked just right. If there was one complaint, I would say the soup is on the salty side, but that's how traditional Lanzhou lamen is. I would add some hot water to tone down the soup but otherwise it was a delicious meal. Will come back. read more

Chopin Noodle House's Lanzhou hand-pulled noodles are a great way to do Noodles & Company (Chinese style). You get different noodle sizes--from extra thin to extra wide and flat noodles. You can also choose how you want this served (either hot or cold) and either with soup or no soup, spicy or non-spicy. It is not a mix and match sort of menu. The menu is set; you just have to read through the choices for what you want. For this visit, we picked the Lanzhou beef noodle soup and the chilcken with belt noodles. The meats were all very tender (not chewy). The noodles were quite long and it may be a bit of a struggle piling them into the soup spoon with a bit of everything before entering your mouth. Nevertheless, that's the beauty of it not being machine-cut, I suppose. The belt noodles in the chicken order we got were no joke. Wide and long, again, diffilcut to maneuver, but still very tasty without being all doughy. For the appetizer, we got the mutton chops, which were more expensive than the soups, but worth the price. The muttons were very, very, very tender. Not chewy, nor gamey and the spice and sauce it came with gave it a bit of a kick. Portion was generous and with a side of rice, it could have been a meal in itself. It is fast casual where you walk up the cashier to place your order and someone brings you your food to the table. They have a little water dispenser for you to get your own cup of water. Their popcorn chicken is good too. Their taro milk tea is also really good, but ask for extra ice because the amount that they give is not enough to make the drink cold. Glad I finally got to try this place. I am personally a big of thin noodles so I didn't end up trying their thick noodles. My friend does love them so she really loved the chewy texture. The beef in the soup was super tender and the broth had great umami. My jajang noodles were pretty good. They had a decent balance of salt, sweet, and tang. It was on the salty side for me personally, but I think if you got extra noodles it would be perfect. I forgot to take a picture, but the tea egg was SO good. An excellent choice for delicious (and spicy) Chinese noodle dishes. We happened upon this place when traveling through the area and craving noodles. We mistook it for a traditional Taiwanese restaurant, but were very happy with our "mistake". We were welcomed with a friendly "hello" by owner which is a nice touch you often missing these days. Speaking of the owner, she patiently listened to and carefully noted my wife's gluten allergy when placing our orders at the counter. Our order came out quickly (under 10 mins!) and complete. The classical music gently playing the background is a unique departure from your typical Chinese restaurant. And later on the kind woman visited our table to inquire of my wife's background (Taiwanese) and the challenges she faces with a serious wheat allergy. I enjoyed the fried dumplings (baked to a perfect crisp) and beef noodle soup. You get to choose the level of noodle thickness - and they don't skimp on the amount of noodles either! While not normally a soup person, I'd get this dish again and again. My wife had spicy chicken with a side of cucumbers and seaweed. Everything was outstanding.
