Ordered delivery, gave them a second chance after bad food about a year ago. Fried wantons were hard and dry, couldn't eat them. Mushrooms in beef with fresh mushrooms were great, but what little meat in it was tough, dry , and tasteless. The ample rice noodles for the soup were stale. Terrible value for the money, as only half of the fifty plus dollar order was edible. So we got about $25 worth of food for $50+ dollars. There's nothing super bad about little Phoenix. We decided to try it again after about 5 years when our normal Chinese food restaurant (Hunan Joy) was closed for a week. Once again, we were very disappointed. The wontons in the wonton soup are VERY soggy and the broth had no flavor. The spare ribs were a good size and cooked well (juicy inside) but as you can see from the pictures, they had literally no sauce on them. The Chow Mein had a generous portion of chicken but way too little cabbage and the sauce is very bland. The Pork Fried rice was the best thing we had but warning, it's heavy on soy sauce so if you aren't a big fan of soy sauce, you won't be a fan of this. So this might sound crazy but my mom picked this restaurant for her birthday dinner. I was skeptical at first too but my mom is super picky so I knew if she picked it, it might be a hidden gem. We walked in and were greeted and seated immediately. The place was pretty empty so I was nervous lol. The server room our drink orders and came back to take food orders in like 5 minutes. I was happy because honestly, I was starving. My tea hit the table and I lie to you not, 10 minutes later they were bringing out piping hot entrees and appetizers. I was very happy because my mom loves hot food, but it's gets better. All of my food was delicious. Nobody's food was wrong and again it was all piping hot. Our server took pics for us, boxed food for us, lit candles for us and sang happy birthday. My family had an amazing time. I just wished they had cots in the back because we were all ready to hit the hay after all that good food. The portions were huge and we got exactly what we paid for. I think me and my mom juts found our new favorite lunch spot. They were really amazing and made sure my family had a great time. I strongly recommend this place. If you go right, you're in the dining room, and that's not the right place. If you go left, you can pick up your food. I ordered orange chicken and beef chou chou. I love that they actually call beef on a stick chou chou. When a place uses that or Cho Cho, I feel better. "Beef on a stick" on a menu makes me think of the Renaissance festival and their steak on a stake (and a deplorable person that used to work there). But chou chou? Sounds like a Chinese appetizer. The beef was tender and juicy. I loved it. The orange chicken had some onions or something in it, which added to the flavor. It was a little spicy, like I love. Good portion size. Been hearing good things about Little Phoenix and figured I'd try some takeout. Overall, it's standard American Chinese takeout. The orange chicken had a lot more breading than chicken in my opinion, though it still tasted good. Sesame noodles, Tso's tofu, tempura, veggies, all are decent, but nothing to write home about. The one major standout was the chicken skewers appetizers. They were well marinated, grilled well, and were plump and juicy. If I ever order here again, I'll be getting these for sure! The amount of food for the prices is considerable. Don't expect to be blown away though. read more

This is not your average diner Chinese carry out spot. This is an actual restaurant with a dining room and good service. The menu is pretty standard but the food here is always hot, fresh and flavorful. They bring out water, hot tea and crispy won tons as soon as you sit down. I ordered the king pao chicken combo plate. This comes with your choice of soup, an egg roll, and egg fried rice. The food comes out quick and was steaming hot. I could barely finish the meal because the portion size was so big but the flavor was so good I couldn't stop eating. The dining room is clean and quiet. We've been dining in and carrying out from Little Phoenix since it opened. Having tried nearly every other nearby Chinese restaurant, Little Phoenix is still our go-to local place for good Chinese food. Nearly everything is made fresh, and they don't skimp on the ingredients. The quality and portion sizes are generally very consistent, although they've also switched to the smaller entree take-out containers like every other restaurant did during the pandemic. We're greeted by name most of the time, and they're always very friendly. We've started doing more carry out due to time constraints, and they're still just as nice. read more

The owner who takes my order is so kind and the drivers always get the food there hot and great. The B.B.Q Spare Ribs (4) were hard like they had been sitting a long time, and the Fantail Shrimp (4) tasted strangely like chicken so I opened up the fried roll and it had a little shrimp surrounded by dough and some fishy meat (maybe chicken). The sushi: California Roll & Shrimp Tempura Roll didn't taste fresh so we didn't finish them. The Sesame Chicken Combo was okay but the egg roll tasted strange with additional flavors. The woman working there followed him to the bathroom which he thought was odd. She acted as though she was cleaning tables, however, there was no one in the restaurant (not a good sign). The steamed shrimp/veggies and steamed chicken/veggies are always fresh, done perfectly with sauce on the side. Triple Delight and beef and broccoli are other favorites. The food is great but the service really sucks. I spent close to $32 and asked for paper plate and forks and napkins and the attendant was very smug and gave me four flimsy napkins. About 2 or 3 years ago we used to get carryout from Little phoenix. We were in the area on6/11/23 and decided to eat there. The entire experience was horrible. I ordered egg rolls and my lady ordered hot and sour soup. So far so good. All downhill from there. My lady tried to ask a question about the Tuna options as they have a number of different tuna choices . The waitress ignored her. She ordered the SA 18 TUNA[maguro0. It did not taste fresh and she asked to return it. Again asked about TUNA. NO response. I asked waitress if she could get someone to explain about the TUNAS. She totally ignored me. She then orderedS25 tuna roll. Also not good. I ordered the SP 10 rainbow roll. It was God awful. I normally ask for a box if i have leftover food. I ate mostly the fish on top. Didn't finish. The fish was marginal. The roll was slimy like it had been prepared long ago and then they throw the whatever on top to complete an order. I had to use bathroom before we left. Had an oops i crapped my pants moment on the way home. Didn't make more than 4 miles and 10 minutes. to CVS on Wilkens Ave. WE had requested the Tuna maguro be taken off bill. It did not happen. I took it off NO TIP .I am a very generous tipper. WAs going to call and talk to manager next day. After reading Yelp reviews it was why waste the time. Apparently the owner/manager are nor receptive to customer complaints. For the record there is no ambiance in this establishment. I could continue but I will close with this. This restaurant was so good when it first opened. It has steadily gone down in quality of not quantity. We have ordered delivery for years, and was mostly satisfied until last year. I ordered cold noodles that were so thick with nut butter, I ended up throwing them out. The latest order was very disappointing. The "crispy" chicken wasn't and looked like worms coated with a sweet sauce. The beef and broccoli was so overcooked, it looked and tasted like leftovers. With the combo platters there was no choice of fried rice variety, just egg, which has no taste. I have to say, the hot and sour and won ton soups were delicious. The egg rolls were passable. Wow, I have NEVER had such a bad experience with any take out except for here. I put my order online and got a confirmation. An hour later I call over to the restaurant and they don't have my order. I replace the order to learn it would be an additional hour before they could get me my food. I asked to cancel the order since I would have had to wait two hours before my food came. I chose this restaurant at random the other day and had a fantastic experience. The restaurant is clean, pleasant, and inviting. My friends and I started with an order of steamed pork dumplings which were enormous and the filling was very good. We each ordered different "special combinations" which were toted to come with an eggroll, soup of our choosing, friend rice, and the main dish -- and the prices seemed too good to be true. We tried the wonton and hot and sour soups -- both were great. The egg rolls were huge, had shrimp you could see in them, and were crispy and perfect. The meal portions themselves were enormous and made for an entire second meal later that night. I don't live near Catonsville, but my friends and I all agreed that the next time we have a craving for Chinese we would come back to give it another go. We were all very impressed. read more

I ordered chicken dumplings 2 weeks ago and they were delicious so much so when I was in the area today I purchased them again. They were awful. I called to to let them know. The lady just argued with me about them. She said they are how they make them. I said no. I had them before and they weren't like that. She didn't acknowledge, didn't back down, stood her ground all over an order of dumplings.
