This is the best dim sum restaurant I have ever been to. I am not usually a big fan of dim sum; when my friends invite me, I often wonder how good it can really be. However, when I went with friends to Dimsum Palace for lunch on a Saturday, the food was spectacular. You must try the calamari from their regular menu. It is lightly fried and served with a delicious sauce. I also enjoyed the snow pea tips in garlic sauce. From the dim sum menu, I ordered two servings of the crystal shrimp chive dumplings. I also tried the wonton soup, which was very good. Although Dimsum Palace is an hour and a half drive from me, I find it well worth the trip. read more

I like to have new experiences for my birthday. One year we went to blow glass. This year we had dimsum. It was hilarious because none of us knew what we were doing. There were about 8 of us, so we all ordered what appealed to us and shared via the big lazy susan in the middle of our table. And boy did we order... when the waitress started delivering our food to the table, I thought it would never end. Here's what I can remember: HONG KONG STICKY RICE (Comforting blend of glutinous rice, sausage, chicken, and mushrooms encased in lotus leaf): Our friend Aimee said that she had always wanted to try something wrapped in a leaf. She was delighted by this. DEEP FRIED SESAME BALL (Golden, crispy shell covered in sesame seeds encases a sweet, chewy filling of red bean paste) I was hoping that our 7-year-old friend would like these. He did not. He didn't like much, but truthfully, I've known that kid for over a year and I don't think I have ever seen him eat more than three bites of anything at a time. I quite liked these though. STUFFED EGGPLANT (Lightly fried tender eggplant stuffed with flavorful shrimp paste served with savory sauce) Apparently I'm the only person in our group who likes eggplant, so I got all three of these. And I LOVED them. The shrimp paste reminded me of shrimp toast. The eggplant was so tender it melted in my mouth. It was glorious. I would definitely order these again. BAKED BBQ PORK PUFF (Flaky pastry encases tender, flavorful BBQ pork) We ordered these when they ran out of the BBQ rolls, and they were equally delicious. That BBQ pork filling is sweet and moreish. BAKED EGG TART (Flaky, buttery crust filled with smooth, creamy egg custard) Now some of our group understands where egg custard snowballs come from... inspired by the creamy filling in these tarts. So great!! BAKED BBQ PORK BUNS (Soft and fluffy buns filled with a savory and slightly sweet BBQ pork mixture) The restaurant only had one serving of these (which are magnificent) so we ended up ordering three different barbecued pork dumplings including STEAMED PORK BUNS (Tender and fluffy buns filled with a flavorful and savory pork filling). ALL are worth ordering again CHARCOAL & EGG YOLK BUNS (Soft and fluffy bun filled with rich and creamy egg yolk custard) beautiful and amazing. The yolk burst out of the dumpling, like a good egg over easy. I'm the only one who ate these. I think their black color was a bit scary for the others. HONG KONG ROASTED DUCK (Succulent and flavorful Roasted Duck with crispy skin and tender meat). I have duck for my birthday every year. This year I only had a taste because I was so excited to taste the dumplings and such. The duck is lovely, of course. Great cook on the skin. HONEY GLAZED BBQ PORK (Tender slices of pork glazed with sweet and savory honey sauce). Oh yes. Glorious There was also some kind of beef with wide noodles that reminded me of drunken noodles. I wasn't a fan of that. Jeremy had three bowls of egg drop soup, but I found it bland. I've always been a hot and sour girl, myself. We took home so many leftovers. I'm still unpacking the bags and discovering items I hadn't previously tasted, such as walnut shrimp. I'm taking a star off because their soda machine was down, so I had water. The rest of the table had bubble teas or fruity tea. The restaurant was fairly empty at 7pm on a Friday night. The service was flawless. I had a great time. Came here for a banquet style dinner and the food was absolutely delicious. The traditional banquet courses were well seasoned, high quality, and very enjoyable. Service was great. The room we had was on the smaller side, about 3 large tables, but was private and served our purposes. The starter soup (I think tofu and jellyfish) and abalone entree was outstanding. We ordered takeout. We got the fried cruller, turnip cake, baked bbq pork buns, minced beef congee, sticky rice and bean curd rolls. The restaurant interior looked nice inside. The staff seemed generally nice. My wife ordered the wrong item for me. I wanted the steamed rice roll with twisted fried cruller, but she ordered just the fried cruller instead. I went back inside the restaurant to see if they could exchange it for the right item, but when I found out they were going to charge me for it, I just took back the fried cruller and asked her for a spoon for the congee. I understand why they couldn't exchange for the right item, since they wouldn't be able to sell the wrong item. Regardless, the food was all very tasty and delicious. Favorites were stuffed eggplant, black truffle shrimp, and pork ribs. I found the beef short ribs to be chewy and the beef meatballs to be bland with a gummy consistency. For dessert, you can't go wrong with the pineapple buns filled with creamy egg custard! We came on Wednesday for lunch, there was no wait and only 3 other tables were occupied. One of the better dim sum places in Maryland. This place was excellent. Very big menu. Came in during the week at lunch time to avoid the weekend rush. Plenty of parking and easy to find. Got sat at our table quickly and the dim sum carts started to come around. FYI there are some menu items not on the carts so you just have to let the staff know and they will bring it out to you. The service here was super fast and attentive, makes sense as they come around steadily with the dim sum carts. The food was authentic and fresh. Coming out hot and smelling delicious. My dim sum classic favorites hargow and shumai here were excellent. Super meaty with big shrimp and pork fillings. Their other items were all good. I really like the sesame balls, pineapple bun, and Portuguese tarts. Rice rolls were also good. Came here for some dim sum... This is a relatively new dim sum restaurant along Route 40 in Catonsville. We decided to stop by for a dim sum early dinner. We were greeted by a pleasant man and taken to our seat. The restaurant was an open concept and clean with pleasant staff ready to take our order. We got the crystal shrimp, seafood sui mai, and baked barbecue buns; the Hong Kong pan fried noodles and the steamed pork ribs. The crystal shrimp dumpling was fresh and tasty, covered with a clear dumpling wrapper. The seafood sui mai was loaded with shrimp, scallops, and crabmeat in a dumpling dough that was really good. The star of this party was the baked barbecue pork buns. Baked golden brown buns encased around a pulled pork barbecue filling with a hint of sweetness, (*chef's kiss). Now the items that were definitely a miss: the steam pork ribs were no more than a mound of riblet bones with a bunch of cartilage, little meat, and taro, which I wasn't prepared for as the stark contract in texture from the pork ribs to the mushy taro was not to our liking. The Hong Kong style pan noodles were the most expensive item we ordered ($11.99) and a HUGE disappointment. The noodles arrived with little veggies and no meat, I would advise to not order these two items and, if you just want dim sum, concentrate on those amazing menu items. All in all, with the exception of the noodles and pork ribs, we are going back to check out more of the extensive dim sum offerings! read more

We got seated for the first service, ate our fill, and were out the door in 45 minutes which was lovely when eating out with 2 kids 3 and under. The service was fast and almost everything was delicious. The stuffed eggplant was the highlight for me, but i also loved the pork buns and the egg tart. The only thing i wouldn't get again was the short rib, which was very tough and chewy. It gets packed pretty quickly, so I'd recommend getting their ahead of time if you're not trying to wait. The food is delicious and the dim sum experience is always a fun one if you've never tried before. Context: my family and I went on a Sunday morning at 10:50 and there was already a line coming out of the door (they open at 11). You should definitely get there ahead of time if you're trying to meet a party. I believe their restaurant policy is that they don't let you be seated unless at least half your party is present. The ambiance does get a little bit hectic because the restaurant is so busy so early, but that's also kind of part of the whole dim sum experience. Mostly everything was very delicious and fresh. The only thing I wasn't a big fan of was the black pepper short rib where the meat was a bit chewy. Otherwise, no complaints about the food. The service is a bit spotty mainly because there's so many people there and how busy it was, so I would try to ask for things in advance if possible. To clarify, it wasn't anything bad. Just ask for things like refills or napkins ahead of time. All in all, it was a delicious meal with a fun experience and we'll definitely be back again. read more

But I loved how clean they keep the place. They use disposable table cloths and change it every time a new group dines. Really appreciated that especially given we are more health- and germ- conscious post COVID. 2. Service: Outstanding, outstanding, outstanding. Everyone was so understanding and accommodating. They offered a booster seat before we asked for one (FYI - SUPER CLEAN. I've seen some nasty ones), got my kid a plastic plate and a spoon, even a separate to go water cup with a lid and a straw. It's not easy dining out with a little kid, especially when we feel unwelcome. But everyone at Dimsum palace were so nice and supportive.. it almost made me tear up a little. 3. Food!!! OMG. The BEST dimsum I've had in a WHILE. My go-to in the DMV area is China Garden Hangong, but Dimsum Palace offered HUGE dimsums (almost felt jumbo sized) with comparable / better taste. Dimsum Palace is where to go for delicious and well varied dimsum. I visited Dimsum Palace over a year ago. The food was fine, but the atmosphere felt dingy and cramped. Having returned, it has gotten a massive upgrade, with clean and open spaces, and a menu that brings both classic dimsum dishes as well as a few new innovations. It's hard to list everything I've had at Dimsum Palace, so here are my favorites: The truffle shrimp dumplings look imposing with their black exterior, but the bouncy, truffle infused dough is filled with juicy shrimp for an indulgent twist on shrimp dumplings. There is a brown tripe dish where the tripe is in huge chunks. For some this might be a tough chew, but for me, it's a textural marvel with each bite releasing a burst of meaty broth into my mouth. The chicken feet are so soft that you don't need to chew, just suck on a digit and spit out the knuckle bones. It looks intimidating, but once you've gotten the motion down, you'll be inhaling these succulent and tender morsels. Food comes out fast, and you'll always feel like you're missing out on a cart if you don't take it when it passes by. I suggest reading the menu at the table, which comes with helpful pictures. You can also order dimsum that's not on a nearby cart and a server will bring it to you quickly. Don't be afraid to experiment with something you've never tried, as even if you don't like it, each dish is small that it's worth the risk. If I had to nitpick, it would be that the price for some of the dimsum is very high. Check the menu for the expensive items before snagging three of them from a cart. We tried a good selection of dishes and everything was fresh and it was super hot ( temperature wise) which is what I like. The flavors reminded me of Dim Sum in New York's Chinatown. The shrimp dumplings were plump little shrimp clouds. The turnip cakes were great too. Now, fair warning: some carts seemed to be on a leisurely Sunday stroll because they took forever to make it to our table. I ended up flagging down a server and ordering a few favorites off the menu -- luckily, those came out faster. The staff were nice despite the hustle and bustle, and the chaotic atmosphere honestly felt like part of the experience. Just got home from my 20min drive to pick up my order. I ordered the homemade noodles w/XO sauce, the mushrooms w/Chinese greens, and 2 orders of the XL crystal pork & peanut dumplings, and 1 rice (since rice is a la carte). They called me back 5mins later to apologize and say they ran out of the XL dumplings, which is fine and understandable. They asked me if I wanted to add something else. I asked if they have chicken and black bean sauce, they said yes, so I ordered that. I also added a second rice to the order and he confirmed my order back to me. I picked up, paid my $50 and got home. The $17 black bean chicken is 75% button mushrooms that are barely cooked, seemingly the white parts of scallions, and not one black bean in sight. I checked the receipt--it says "chicken with black bean sauce." They always only gave me one rice but charged me for 2. So irritating. read more

A decent place to get dimsum. You can order by menu or cart. All the dishes were pretty good and satisfying. My favorite were the shrimp dumplings! Ordering off the menu instead of the cart WILL lead to you getting a larger portion (and charged for a larger portion as well), so keep that in mind. I didn't know and accidentally ordered 11 dollars of turnip cakes, which was way too much for two people. The interior is clean and the waiters are prompt as well. Pretty decent dimsum. It was busy on the weekend with cart service, but we were able to snag a table. They don't have a huge variety and only saw 2 carts (steamed & fried); char siu bao, shrimp sui mai, har gow, taro dumplings, egg tarts, and footballs were solid. Also ordered a few dishes off the menu: chicken eggplant salted fish casserole, snow pea leaves, and chicken bitter melon were very tasty. However the portion size should have been bigger, especially the casserole. My biggest gripe was that none of the dishes come with white rice. $1.50/bowl is ridiculous and for any Chinese restaurant to charge extra for rice is sacrilegious. Happy to find a Cantonese restaurant in our way back home from DC to Jersey! Arrived at the restaurant around 1pm on a Saturdays. There were 5 of us, the wait was only about 15 minutes. There is a lotte supermarket in the same plaza. So we did a little shopping before handing back home as well. The waitresses were really friendly at the restaurant. We ordered a few dim sum, fried rice and beef chow fun. Everything came tasty, hot and fresh! The restaurant is very roomy and comfortable. They sat us all the way in the back room, so we felt pretty private. I think you can book the room as a party room. read more

This spot is hopping and there's a line on Sundays out the door. The wait isn't too long since most of the dim sum is on pushcarts and they turn their tables fast. We were done within an hour even though we ordered beef chow fun and stir fried turnip cake with XO sauce from their kitchen. Everything tastes so fresh - you can tell from the dumpling wrappings if they are frozen or fresh - these shrimp dumplings and black truffle dumplings definitely are freshly prepared. I love the creativity to take turnip cakes and stir fry with XO suace - but this also means that they had to use less turnip/flour ratio to get a firmer consistency to prevent it from falling apart. Still delish. Ithe vibe is high energy. The servers are great at changing dirty plates, taking empty dim sum steamers/plates away, refilling on teas. This is a great place for dim sum. They have a nice selection, and everything is delicious and flavorful. We liked all the dim sum items: the har goas bean curd rolls, sui mai, Portuguese egg tarts, pork buns and pineapple buns. My suggestion is that I hope that more of the dim sum comes out hotter. Especially the stuffed egg plants that come in the cold cart. I really liked the pork and century egg congee soup. That one is very flavorful, and I'm really glad that they make it to order and put extra century eggs in it as I requested. We also have come to have dinner and had fish casserole, chow fun, and house pan fried noodles. The dishes were good, but they were on the small side compared to other Chinese restaurants in the area. Therefore, we will probably just stick to going there for dim sum. I always get the chrysanthemum tea and some of my favorite dishes are the stuffed eggplant, pineapple bun, and steamed ribs! The restaurant is brightly lit and the service is excellent. My dim sum standards are a little high given the fact that I grew up in Queens, NY and have tried dim sum in a few other cities across the U.S. So by comparison Dim Sum palace was very good. We loved the traditional dim sum carts! (Some places no longer due this after Covid) We tried the usual dim sum food such as shrimp dumplings, pork buns (flaky dough kind and a golden brown bun). Something new for us was the stuffed eggplant (I think). I think it was eggplant stuffed with shrimp toast, delicious. The duck was tender and delicious also. We enjoyed the mango dessert cups. Came here at 11:25am on a Saturday as a group of 4 and we got sat at the last open table without waiting. It gets pretty busy the second they open so come early if you do not want to wait. As soon as we sat down, a cart came by and we got to order immediately! The food was absolutely delicious. I was excited to try the egg tarts since they are my favorite breakfast/snack/dessert ever. I was absolutely shocked at how soft, silky, and tasty the egg tarts were! They were unforgettable and I will definitely be back for these egg tarts. The custard buns were black with a gold accent on the top and looked beautiful. They were so warm and fresh! The service was amazing as well. They refilled our teapot and water immediately after finishing it, any empty dish and used napkins were taken off immediately. The service was so swift and exceeded my expectations especially for a busy crowded dim sum restaurant. The table next to us left and within a minute, the table was cleared off and ready to go for the next customers. I was highly surprised at the service here. Unlike other Asian restaurants, or server Linda was extremely pleasant. She was very patient and attended to our every need with a smile so this was definitely 5 star service I'm not accustomed to. There were so many choices from hot, cold, sweet and savory for dim sum we, a group of 8 didn't get through half of them. Some of my favorites were the pineapple buns & shrimp and crab dim sum. A lot of our choices were on the cold / warm side and I wasn't happy about that. I will definitely come back a day is not so busy so that I can order them and they will come out hot each time. At least, that's my hope. The Chinese broccoli was good but there was barely any oyster sauce but are awesome server did bring us out some more. Before I forget to mention, the tea was good as well. It wasn't too strong and our awesome server Linda refilled it for as many times as we need it.
